Okay so she's finally announced the title of her new album and she's also announced a few dates in july!
"It's been a while since we've heard new music from Björk, but come this summer, that's set to change. She has announced a series of UK shows planned as part of this year's Manchester International Festival, during which she will preview material from her forthcoming album, Biophilia. A press release describes Biophilia as not only an album but also "A multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows". Her six-show, three-week residency at Manchester's Campfield Market Hall will feature her performing with collaborators as well; the festival will also assist Björk in bringing the Biophilia performances to other cities after the Manchester residency. Also, the press release outlines an intriguingly strange assortment of instruments that will be used for the show: "a bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ; a 30 foot pendulum that harnesses the earth's gravitational pull to create musical patterns-- creating a unique bridge between the ancient and the modern; a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid; and a one-off extraordinary pin barrel harp." Cool. You might remember hearing about Biophilia in the beginning of the year, when a new iPad app titled Solar System, featuring a three-minute instrumental taken from the project, was unveiled. Well, NME reports that Björk has pulled a Gorillaz and partly recorded the new record on an iPad, and plans to release the record as a series of apps for the electronic device. Interesting. Most looking forward to it. I would be surprised if I liked the new album as much as Vespertine, which is a stunning experience, but still can't wait to hear it!

Obviously a new Björk album is always welcome news, hopefully this one will be better than Volta though as that was her first poor album to date (exlcuding Drawing Restraint 9 which I refuse to acknowledge).

I remember when I first heard Volta, I loved it. I listened to it constantly and I was so excited, but I've since cooled down about it. Now, almost 4 years later, it's really not as satisfying a listen as Debut, Post, Homogenic or Vespertine. Possibly Medulla too. As for Drawing Restraint 9, I have it in a computer which is being repaired and I haven't really familiarized myself with it well, but from what I remember, it wasn't great. I'll listen to it when I get that computer back, if the music is still in it. But a new Björk album really is exciting. I just can't wait to hear what she has come up with. |

I like Earth Intruders, Wanderlust and The Dull Flame Of Desire but most of the rest leaves me completely cold now.
I was a bit like Mattias, I looned over it when it was released but I really do find it to be her worst work now. Medulla (being most people's choice for worst) is one of my favourites though, so inventive and unusual. |

Earth Intruders and The Dull Flame of Desire are definitely my favourite songs on Volta, but for some reason I'm not a fan of Wanderlust, which Björk has called "the heart of Volta". It's been like that since I first heard the album. It seems to be a lot of peoples' favourite on the album, but not mine. I do really enjoy some parts of the song, but there are parts that I don't quite enjoy much. Dare I call it my least favourite on the album? Maybe. |

I love Bjork...but... for too long she's taken her foot off the quality control pedal - most of her last 4 albums have been meandering, self-indulgent, song-free affairs, which is a damn shame. I went to a party of hers once, for the Post album, thrown by One Little Indian..... she was writhing about on the dancefloor acting very strangely. To her own music. Apparently she pissed on the floor later in the evening in full view of everyone - I didn't see that, though

Because not only is that one of her best releases but it's also one of the best releases of the past decade. Stunning and full of pathos. Medulla was also incredible. I would hardly call them meandering or self-indulgent by any means, very on point, consistent, and beautiful. Volta, I would agree with. I am slightly nervous for this, but even at her worst Bjork is more interesting than 90% of artists out there. Wonderful. |

I'm so excited for thissss. I hope she does the shows in other places, can't really get up to Manchester.
Bjork is amazing, and is definitely one of my favourite artists ever. |

I still can't get Verpertine. I do admire it and think that Pagan Poetry is her best song but I'd like some melody in my Bjork songs than much of the rest of the album provides. Homogenic is my fave.

For me, Vespertine is a wonderful experience and my favourite of hers. It's not really instant or terribly catchy, but it still works really well. I guess you might just need to let it sink in. It may take a while but it can be very satisfying once it does. I've been thinking about it and I came to the conclusion that maybe Wanderlust is NOT my least favourite off Volta. I think it might be I See Who You Are. The instrumental part in Wanderlust near the end is quite Wanderful. So I think that might save it from being my least favourite, although I'm not a fan of the verses and to a lesser extent, the chorus. I See Who You Are has its moments too though. |

Yes, I definitely include Vespertine and especially Medulla in the list of self indulgent, song-less, tune-less and meandering Bjork releases. Top of the pile. An interesting concept that she simply doesn't pull off at any level, to my ears. The only thing I credit to either album is fabulous artwork.
The less said about the awful Volta, the better, I think. She didn't even et the artwork right with this one. But it's all down to personal taste, really. |

It seems everyone is in agreement that Volta was rather awful. I did love the artwork though, the digipak was especially adorable.

 I just had a quick look on Google at some of the promotional pictures from that era, this would have been rather brilliant artwork. She always has the best shoots/videos. |

yeh i really liked the artwork for the last era especially this photoshoot..
 which is the image i used for my final piece in foundation i absolutely love it i just wish the wanderlust video was for a different song because it's so visually stunning but the song to me is one of the worst on the album

Vespertine reminds me a lot of Kid A - lots of sound manipulation with a singer who doesn't showcase their considerably great voice enough on mostly impenetrable songs.
