 As always, the unofficial counterpart to the Mercury Prize has been announced with the following 12 songs all in competition for £20: ‘BLACK MAGIC’ by Little Mix ‘BODY TALK’ by Foxes ‘DON’T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF’ by Jess Glynne ‘I LOVED YOU’ by Blonde and Melissa Steel ‘I’M A RUIN’ by Marina & The Diamonds ‘KING’ by Years & Years ‘LOSING’ by Becky Hill ‘LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO’ by Ellie Goulding ‘SEASONS’ by Olly Murs ‘THE THRILL’ by Nero ‘TURN THE MUSIC LOUDER (RUMBLE)’ by KDA, Tinie Tempah and Katy B ‘UPTOWN FUNK’ by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars EXCELLENT choices for the most part and possibly one of my favourite lists that I've seen them do. Not heard 'Seasons' and 'The Thrill' though but I LOVE the other 10 songs. |

Knowing Popjustice's taste, I'd probably say 'I'm a Ruin' will win. Peter loves the song a huge amount and the song won the Marina full discography rate on there earlier this year.
I just listened to 'Seasons' and it seems like an odd choice. I really hope 'Losing' can do well. |
