To be fair 'Blinding Lights' wasn't initially being pushed as a single (the focus was initially on 'Heartless' but then to be even fairer it still took a long time for it to climb to #1 after it did get more of a push.

Also 'Blinding Lights' is technically a 2010s release so Ed still has a clear run at having the biggest seller that was first released within the decade laugh.gif

Lover’s been doing really well on Apple Music since Christmas and alright on Spotify so not too surprising. Can’t explain why though apart from the obvious Taylor phenomenon atm

I always thought Lover could really be a smash because it reminded me a lot of Perfect by Ed Sheeran (in terms of the instrumental and the overall feel of the song at least). Maybe the general public are switching from one to the other now. laugh.gif

And btw I am so happy to be getting these weekly again! I always loved checking every week when vidcapper used to post them here.

I agree it's not a flop (we've seen true flops like Lil Nas X's latest single or Ed Sheeran's lead single from his most recent album which I can't even remember the name of), but it is January, so it's "easy" to debut at #8 YTD lol.

Yes I love it! I wanted to post last week but I didn't have anything sensible to say. You don't have to say to if you don't want to/can't, but are you estimating or have you got official figures?

Figures are all estimates but positions official from ChartsPlus. At this stage of the year the sales should be very close to the truth.

Ah OK that's great. (I was just asking because people got into trouble for posting things like this before, I really want this all year!).

Thought it might have held on a bit longer myself tbh, obviously Spotify’s not everything but it’s doing a lot better than stuff like Take on Me and Shivers there which are still in

Entries to the Top 100 this week:
Nothing matters
Pink + white

Exits:
FTCU
Kill bill

Pre 1/1/23 releases in the YTD 41-100 excluding anything that’s been an SCR “hit” in 2024 (even with that extra caveat it’s most of the list wacko.gif ):

Calm down
Everywhere
Escapism
The night we met
Take me to church
As it was
Another love
Dog days are over
Ain’t no mountain high enough
Iris
Save your tears
Dreams
Something in the orange
Seventeen going under
Viva la vida
Blinding lights
Naïve
Die for you
Bad habits
I ain’t worried
I’m good
Everybody wants to rule the world
One dance
Summer of ‘69
I wanna be yours
Snooze
Someone like you
Shivers
Wonderwall
Do I wanna know?
We found love
Yellow
Take on me
Don’t stop me now
Party in the USA
I’m still standing
The real Slim Shady
