Dexton's Top 40 (28/08/2018) (Week 68)



- Marshmello and Bastille spend a second week at the top, the first time this has happened for either artist despite having two other #1s each
- Calvin Harris earns his third Top 5 hit, Sam Smith and Jessie Reyez their first
- Logic and Ryan Tedder each get a third Top 10 hit with One Day (including two with OneRepublic, one of which, Rich Love, spent two weeks at #1)
- Lucid Dreams has spent 11 weeks between #10-#23
- Camila Cabello re-enters the chart with Real Friends after 30 weeks away, beating the record for longest time between chart runs which was previously held by Imagine Dragons' Whatever It Takes (29 weeks).
- Jess Glynne's first solo single to enter my chart does so at #35, All I Am
- 35 weeks after first enterng Paramore's After Laughter reaches a new peak
- George Ezra's Staying At Tamara's spends it's first week below #7 at 23 weeks since entering the chart, at #8

I'm still not entirely convinced by that Marshtille song but I haven't given up on it yet so we'll see.

Plenty of decent new entries this week though!

I only heard 'In My Mind' for the first time this week and it definitely sounds like a future Top 10 to me. I've got a feeling R1 will playlist it this week too which will help its cause.

The new Jess Glynne song is better than I'll Be There (even if it is very much Hold My Hand pt 2) so I'm hoping it can worm its way to No. 1 in the next few weeks. Top 10 is pretty much guaranteed!

I wonder how Bazzi managed to get Camila Cabello to feature on his track but it's a pretty decent song, I can see it being a slow burning hit if it continues to get radio support.

The Fall Out Boy song didn't hit me on first listen but I'll have to hear it again.

Living for the fact that BROCKHAMPTON have spent three weeks in your top 5 *.* great choice as it's definitely my favourite song they've released this year so excited for the new album supposedly coming next month! Elsewhere, my favourite new entry here is definitely 'In My Mind' - such an infectious dark loopy dance song, kinda floored that it actually made the top 40 as it stands out for miles in the current commercial dance scene!
