Soo looks like he might be gettin charged with sedition after all? 👀👀 Bur the Uas's justixe system is so politicised, that I doubt it matters. He will get off scott free.

But I'm taking it that whatever happens, even if jailed, then he can run for President in 2024? That's majorly wrong on all levels.

Yeah, this is the big one - we've got the tape recording of him threatening Georgia's Secretary of State.
QUOTE Those prior efforts included a phone call on January 2, 2021, during which President Trump urged the secretary of state of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, to "find" enough votes to overturn the Georgia Presidential election results and threatened Secretary Raffensperger if he failed to do so. *.* I've got a present for Chris... |

True but if he sees serious consequences before the primaries even start, as it looks like this latest indictment is actually angling to do, then I would be hugely sceptical of him clearing each hurdle. The RNC, as much as they’re in thrall to Trump’s cult would probably balk at their candidate running from a jail cell, including going all in on another, weaker candidate, and even if they don’t it would put his chances of winning from unlikely as they are now to vanishingly small. 62% of Americans right now think he shouldn’t be allowed to serve if convicted of something like this. This is very good news. |

The country is now so partisan that I don't know... He'll runa nd be the candidate even if he's in jail, and he will have a good chance of winning. These neolib centre right wingers change NOTHING and people then have to look elsewhere for change, and then you end up with Trump (again, as the Dems didn't learn their lesson last time).

I guess it’ll come down to if any of the charges result in a ban from office upon conviction. If it’s just jail time and he wins he’ll just pardon himself - regardless of the legality of that

I can't see any way on God's earth that Trump can win in 2024. He lost comprehensively before 1/6 and all the other crazy shit had come out and his closely aligned candidates flopped at the mid terms last year. He could inspire more violence although he tried raising the alarm last year and, in the real world not online, his followers weren't seen for dust.
I think De Santis would be more dangerous, but luckily he has no charisma whatsoever. That said think all the other lead candidates are gun worshipping ultra homophobes too. |

If it’s just jail time and he wins he’ll just pardon himself - regardless of the legality of that He won't be barred from office. That's true - and it will give him evrn more of a reason to try and win: pardon himself, sismiss any cases going through thr Justice Department, and get out of jail. |

Back in court in DC 4pm local time, 9pm UK time. Coverage now on Sky News.
This is the most serious of the charges. Still think he'll beat De Santis to the nomination but sleepy Joe will beat him next November. This post has been edited by crazy chris: 4th August 2023, 08:02 AM |

Serial Liar Pleads Not Guilty To Crimes Against Democracy would be a suitable headline.

Trump is also facing further arrest in the next few weeks in relation to another case being brought against him for putting pressure on election officials. That will be his 4th arrest. I think the election could go either way. It depends on timeframes in terms of how quick the cases get through court and whether he is found guilty. Trump will try and use his legal perils to his advantage by saying the state is corrupt and spreading more lies about election fraud. He is a dangerous man who should never have been president in the first place and should never be allowed to run again.

Because the Georgia charges are at state level, Trump couldn't pardon himself even if he was convicted and then became president again. Georgia Republicans tried to change the state constitution to allow the governor to grant pardons but, because it required a two-thirds vote of the legislature (and a confirmatory referendum), it failed.

If he pleads not guilty to his current indictment, the court case will be screened live on TV. Will be interesting to see what bullshit he comes out with to try and worm his way out of it.
