Good afternoon everyone, it's the weekend and thus time for me to bring you my personal top 20 for this week. Jonas Brothers have seen off all comers in the last few weeks but are they about to turn three weeks into four or have new entries from Molly Hocking and Jess Glynne given them a run for their money? Here's your answer...

CHART COMMENTARY



The number one single on my personal chart is once again 'Sucker' by Jonas Brothers, holding there for a fourth week for the familial trio and thus becoming the first record this year to last a whole lunar cycle at the summit. It's also now overtaken P!nk's 'Walk Me Home' to be the biggest single on my chart so far this year. Quite what it will take to depose it is up for debate, as no singles in the next few weeks seem to be immediately poised to do so.

Westlife remain at the #2 entry point they debuted at last week with 'Better Man', meaning the week's biggest new hit has to settle for bronze honours. Still, that is not a shabby achievement at all for 18 year old Molly Hocking, the Cornish teen vocalist who became the newly crowned champion of last weekend's final of The Voice UK.



Her reward is a top 3 debut for her version of 'I'll Never Love Again' off the soundtrack to one of the cinematic behemoths of the last year, A Star Is Born starring Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper (their original version only got as high as #23 on my chart last October). This #3 entry for Molly makes it by far and away the second biggest single from a former alumni of The Voice UK, the biggest as we mentioned last week still being that from 2013 finalist Becky Hill who hit the top as guest artist on Oliver Heldens' 'Gecko (Overdrive)' in 2014. By a twist of fate, Molly also charts ahead of her mentor on the show Olly Murs, who dips one place to #4 this week with 'Feel The Same'.

After spinning off three number ones and a number two hit, it was probably a bit much to ask for the same of Jess Glynne's fifth single from her current album 'Always In Between', particularly when 'Thursday', the single before it you will remember, was top of my chart for three weeks at Christmas. Still, she makes a thoroughly respectable #6 debut this week with 'No One' - enough to make it her twelfth top 10 hit on my chart.



Izzy Bizu has had two streams of success to her name on my chart. The first was with the short lived SoundGirl when she was barely out her early teens, and with whom she became part of the youngest girl group to score two number one hits in 2011 ('I'm The Fool' and 'Don't Know Why') before swiftly disappearing. Then came her much critically praised solo debut with her self penned and funded 'Moment of Madness' album which produced a top 20 hit with 'White Tiger' hitting #15 exactly three years ago this week in 2016. A new EP, 'Glita' hits the shelves today and 'Lights On' is rewarded with a respectable #13 debut. By another twist of fate, her former SoundGirl bandmate Nicole Shortland - better known as Little Nikki, who had a handful of top 40 hits on my chart under her own steam in 2013 - was a contestant in Olly Murs' team on this year's series of The Voice UK but was eliminated in the Battle Rounds, so must be kicking herself a little at this turn of events.



Finally this week, your sympathies to two acts who are languishing somewhat with new releases. Firstly Dido, who after two consecutive top 10 hits from her current hit album 'Still On My Mind' has to make do with a lesser #18 placing for its third single, 'Take You Home'. Still, she's having it better than Jennifer Lopez. She followed up 'Limitless', her surprise number one from January this week. Alas even with a guest turn from French Montana, 'Medicine' can do little more than limp in at #20. The cliche of only being as good as your last single is there for a reason sometimes.
