You’ll See deserves to make this album.
I would argue Jump and Get Together too Maybe even rain lol Love the artwork !!! A massive shame that the IC continues to usually sell more than this. |

It is my go to greatest hits collection because it spans more decades but there are some GLARING omissions for sure, such as Get Together! Criminal.

Also the artwork for this album is INCREDIBLE and one of her best ever. It is instantly iconic.

Should Have Been Bigger: Madonna’s “Revolver” QUOTE In this franchise, we look back on songs that deserved a little more love and attention. I have a lot of issues with Celebration, Madonna’s 2009 greatest hits compilation (not using single edits, for starters), but “Revolver” isn’t one of them. A gritty banger with the kind of chorus that lodges permanently in your brain, the Lil Wayne-assisted anthem ranks as one of the Queen of Pop’s better singles from the late ’00s. “I’m a sex pistol, my love should be illegal,” Madonna declares in the first verse. “Real deal, baby, I’m no counterfeit.” The bad/iconic metaphors continue until we reach the knock-out chorus: “My love’s a revolver, my sex is a killer — do you wanna die happy?” In a perfect world, the reverse-aging 62-year-old would have released “Revolver” as the project’s lead single instead of the tepid title track. But “Revolver” had the misfortune of leaking months in advance and, by the time it did get rolled out, momentum was non-existent. And then Warner’s decision not to film a video was the final nail in its coffin. As a result, “Revolver” failed to crack the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at a frankly unacceptable number 130 in the UK. The song did have considerably more success, however, in the clubs. Madonna handpicked a group of A-List producers to remix “Revolver” including David Guetta, Paul Van Dyk and Tracy Young. They did such a good job that “Revolver” won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. Interestingly, “Revolver” gained notoriety again in 2012 when Madonna performed it on her MDNA World Tour holding a a variety of weapons. It sparked a backlash and superstar quickly issued an apology. “I do not condone violence or the use of guns,” she said in an open letter and then explained that she was taking aim (no pun intended) at the church. - What are your thoughts on 'Revolver'? Top gun or misfire? |

Revolver is about as much of a bop as Shoo-be-doo

It's a nice Madonna track, when her autotuning was something she was still only doing randomly (I found it a bit grating in some songs of Madame X), great performance on tour, but pretty happy this wasn't a defining hit.

The track listing order is not my fav.
I prob would have preferred chronological listing. Starting cd2 with a cut into of dress you up bugs me . |

This was a better greatest hits set than GHV2. However, revolver wasn’t a very good track!

For an album that has some of the best pop songs ever on it, I absolutely never listen to it as the track listing on the 2CD is pretty awful. The single disc version is much better although I don't think that Lucky Star or Dress You Up particularly belong on it.

The tracklisting for this is awful tbh, it doesn't flow and it's weird. Starting CD2 with Dress you up wtf? I think chronological order ala The Immaculate Collection would have worked better, perhaps with each of the new songs at the end of each CD.
Tbh a few of the songs sound out of place on the album full stop like Dress you up, Everybody and Burning up shouldn't have made the tracklist at all, not when she has so many iconic songs. This is how I would probably have tracklisted it CD1 1. Holiday 2. Lucky star 3. Borderline 4. Like a virgin 5. Material girl 5. Crazy for you 6. Into the groove 7. Who's that girl (not it's biggest fan but a #1 that deserves a place on a GH I guess) 8. Live to tell 9. Papa don't preach 10. Open your heart 11. True blue 12. La Isla Bonita 13. Like a prayer 14. Express yourself 15. Cherish 16. Oh father 17. Vogue 18. Justify my love 19. Celebration [New track] 20. Everybody (if she really wanted it on there, it's not iconic enough to start the album with) CD2 1. Erotica 2. Deeper and deeper 3. I'll remember 4. Secret 5. Bedtime story 6. You'll see 7. Frozen 8. Ray of light 9. The power of goodbye 10. Beautiful stranger 11. Music 12. Don't tell me 13. Die another day 14. American life 15. Hollywood 16. Hung up 17. Sorry 18. 4 minutes 19. Give it 2 me 20. Revolver I have gone with tracks I think are more iconic not my personal favourites (I can't abide Lucky Star or 4 minutes and I adore Nothing really matters and American pie for example). the album cover is SENSATIONAL though! Who’s that Girl was released after the true blue album. An switch it then 😂 it doesn’t sound good enough to have come after the masterpiece that is True Blur and just before the other masterpiece that is Like a prayer I feel that with chronological order it takes you on a journey while the way it is, Madonna has so many different styles it’s kind of disjointed. I forgot Dont cry for me Argentina that could make an appearance too. This post has been edited by spiceboy: 7th November 2020, 12:00 AM |

This collection was my first introduction to a lot of Madonna's back catalogue so I have a lot of fond memories of it and I'm so used to the flow of the tracking list, even though I can see why others would take issue with it. I actually love 'Dress You Up' starting CD 2 - that intro really struck a cord with me on first listen!
Some bizarre omissions on here though. I always found it particularly strange that 'Miles Away' was here in place of 'Give It 2 Me'. The artwork is fantastic, one of my favourites. |

Revolver is about as much of a bop as Shoo-be-doo Can't say I agree with that article at all. Calling the song 'Celebration' tepid?! I think I sort of liked the song when I was 12 but it just gets worse as time goes on. The chorus is pretty diabolical and the whole thing is just so beneath Madonna. |
