Pidgeot has a great design, but it's absolutely garbage in-game. Paltry Attack and literally 0 Physical coverage options beyond its STABs. At least it was gifted an iconic Mega Evo (which is completely neutered by loss of abilities in LGPE )
I've always unashamedly loved Goldeen and still have no idea why 20 years on. Queen. Abra and Mr Mime are way too low as well. |

121 Dugtrio 5.750
122 Geodude 5.750 123 Farfetch'd 5.708 124 Mankey 5.667 125 Tangela 5.583 126 Parasect 5.500 127 Graveler 5.500 128 Doduo 5.458 129 Magikarp 5.458 130 Kabuto 5.458 Finishing at 130 is the rock/water pokemon Kabuto which's design is based around a shellfish and can be evolved into Kabutops but where will that fair??. I am not surprised to see Kabuto crash out already the design is pretty basic and the evolved version is a lot more useful I feel like. After that is Magikarp but let's be real did we expect this to go far? Battling a Magikarp is a usually an easy fight because iirc they just use a pointless move over and over means you can get them and knock them out. Pretty pointless of a pokemon when you think about it. The next is the Geodude evolution further showing that a pair of evolution is in a section (well kind of Golem isn't in this section). As well as Duduo and Parasect (the latter I thought would be higher not going to lie). One of the most cute looking design's is next as Tangela finishes at 125 but I'd be lieing if I use them a lot in battles or my parties etc. Just nice design for me anyway. Finsihing off this section is Mankey, Far'fetch'd, Geodude (mentioned about their evolution also in this section) and Dugtrio. The latter I can safely say I am not surprised to see this low because much like the OG form Diglett, the Dugtrio evolution isn't that interesting its like two Digletts added on when you think about it |

Magikarp has done remarkably well, especially doing comparatively well to Geodude and Graveler, who are both pretty awesome rock Pokemon, Mt. Moon is so easy with a good Geodude on side. The rest of that section is pretty mediocre however. Preparing the next one now.

At least Magikarp is open in its uselessness, that’s what makes it iconic *.*

PREPARE FOR TROUBLE!
111 Primeape 6.000 112 Machop 6.000 113 Weezing 6.000 114 Shellder 5.958 115 Ekans 5.917 116 Wigglytuff 5.917 117 Venonat 5.917 118 Exeggcute 5.833 119 Seaking 5.833 120 Caterpie 5.792 And 120th goes to a Pokémon I talked about a lot in the last section, Caterpie, the little caterpillar who represents the first Pokémon ever caught in the anime, and probably one of the first you'll catch in the games, as the game starts you out with weaker and less impressive Pokémon before building up to the greater ones. Caterpie shouldn't have been expected to do that well but it's well outperformed Metapod. Well done. Seaking, Goldeen's evolution, notable because it makes the female-sounding Goldeen turn into a fish with a male suffix. And yes, they can be both genders, but tell me you don't instinctively assign one gender or the other to a large number of Pokémon. A number of eggs is just above that, followed by Venonat, the first evolution form of a later-game bug Pokémon. And then Wigglytuff and this section has 10 different Pokémon all from different evolution lines and I'm struggling to find connections between the two. Wigglytuff looks like a rabbit and is very rarely seen in the games as who goes out of their way to evolve Jigglypuff? Meanwhile Ekans is a common early-game sight and most people's first poison Pokémon, as long as you have the Red/FireRed versions, but it's not that strong and well, Team Rocket's Pokémon are/were all pretty useless from a gaming standpoint. Shellder and Machop, filler water and fighting Pokémon both, though the latter is probably the best Fighting line to train, are up ahead, sandwiching another Team Rocket and Poison Pokémon, Weezing. While Ekans ends up looking cool evolving, which is probably why Arbok's still to come, Weezing just makes the eternally, stupidly, happy-looking Koffing look downfallen and depressing, so I can be on board with it ending up that way around. Finally, your reward for putting up with Mankey, Primeape, finishes off the section with the same score as Weezing and Machop. |

Aww I love Dugtrio. Always really liked the design and combat-wise it's quite a good glass cannon because it's surprisingly one of the fastest in Gen I (possibly the fastest that can learn Earthquake) to make up for garbage defence.
Also honestly thought Magikarp could do better because it's so iconic for being garbage, but I suppose that's countered by any amount of time spent leveling one up |

101 | Pidgeotto | 6.375
102 | Golduck | 6.375 103 | Lickitung | 6.375 104 | Clefable | 6.292 105 | Rhyhorn | 6.250 106 | Tentacruel | 6.167 107 | Magneton | 6.167 108 | Hypno | 6.125 109 | Koffing | 6.125 110 | Pinsir | 6.083 Starting us off in the last batch before the top 100 is Pinsir. A relatively average Pokemon and the "other half" of Scyther, I've never really seen it as overly popular, hence it's low placing. Probably because there isn't really anyone of note that actually uses it in battle. Not far ahead of its evolution, at #109 is Team Rocket bad boy Koffing. The eternally joyful of the two floating poison mines, Koffing made 29 appearances in the anime as James' go to weapon of choice before evolving in "Dig Those Diglett!". At #108 is Hypno. No. Just no. Moving on, at a relatively low #107 is electric Pokemon Magneton. I'm not actually sure why this is so low, it's a fairly solid electric type which gained the steel typing from generation 2 onwards (and, along with Magnemite, was the only Pokemon to change typing up until generation 5)! I actually like using Tentacruel in my team if I don't start Squirtle, it's a very solid water-type Pokemon that can be caught as soon as you gain access to Surf. Rhyhorn is up next at #105. Not being able to be caught until the Safari Zone might put some people off including it in their teams, but the powerhouse that is Rhydon (who is still to come) quells that somewhat. Maybe that's why the evolution is higher? In a swap around, the evolution this time is lower down our list; Clefable tumbles into the chart at #104. Possibly due to needing a Moon stone to evolve Clefairy, its yet another Pokemon I'm surprised to see this low down (especially not making the top 100 at least). What can we say about Lickitung? Another Pokemon who, like Diglett, is probably more known for the memes than any form of actual use in the game, it was another of Team Rocket's go to Pokemon (making 17 appearances). Jessie accidentally traded it for a Wobbuffet at a swap meet, paving the way for an even more useless Pokemon to emerge. At #102 is Golduck, the evolution of Psyduck and a fairly unremarkable Pokemon in general. Finally in this section we have Pidgey's first evolution Pidgeotto. One of Ash's main companions for the early part of the anime, it continues the arc of solid if basic flying-type before evolving into the magestic Pidgeot. Also, it's generation 1 sprite is GOD AWFUL! |

ARENA TRAP CAN GO DIE IN A HOLE
Weezing is a Pokemon that seems cool but it's a pain to try and evolve Koffing with those dismal stats Pokemon changed typing in Gen 5? I thought those didn't happen until Fairy types! (unless I'm forgetting something obvious - don't say Arceus with type plates) Poor Pidgeotto being the worst out of the OG 6 of Ash's Pokemon. I always count the OG 6 starting from that episode where he caught Krabby. |

Lickitung's design is ridiculous in the best sense. I actually used one on my in-game team in LGE. Shame that Lickilicky is an absolute abomination.
No other huge losses in this batch for me bar Golduck. It's really crying out for a mega with a Psychic typing. Shocked Clefable is so low, but I do find its design a bit shit and it's an complete nightmare to battle against. Edit: Turns out I rated it a 2. Clefable is way too low!
Lickitung is trash but Lickilicky was a beast in gen 4 for me, even if it's such a stupid looking Pokemon |

91 Sandshrew 6.583
92 Mewtwo 6.583 93 Sandslash 6.542 94 Kangaskhan 6.542 95 Magmar 6.542 96 Nidoran (f) 6.500 97 Magnemite 6.500 98 Nidorina 6.458 99 Oddish 6.417 100 Dodrio 6.417 Crashing out at 100 we have the evolved version of Doduo, Dodrio, a normal/flying type pokemon that has three heads and a bird-shaped body. Personally simular to how I felt with Dugtrio their evolution is basic in terms of both name and design like just add another head. I guess this has more props for having a bit of a different design beyond the three heads. The cute little Grass/poison type pokemon oddish goes out next. Their evolution is a bit better so I am not surprised to see it this low, no matter how cute they are. In this section, we lose both Nidorina and Nidoran. I thought they would both be higher up but I don't think they are proper losses I suppose . Magnemite, Magmar and Kangaskhan re all out too. No proper losses here. We do, however, lose one legendary pokemon already as poor brave Mewtwo. Personally, I think Mewtwo is good but could be better. I do love him in the pokemon movie though Lastly, we do lose an evolved pair in the form of Sandshrew and Sandslash both crash out. In terms of design, both are good designs I just forget about them sometimes so they are not the most memorable unfortunately. |

Sandshrew > Sandslash is my favourite gen 1 evo line, so I'm sad to see them both crashing out in the 90s. Sandslash is adorable for a fully-evolved mon.
Dewgong (lol) or Scyther to win. |

I mean Mewtwo isn't the best looking one granted, but I thought we would be kinder to the most powerful pokemon in the game and star of the first movie Maybe he'd be higher if the game wasn't literally finished when you caught him (or for the frustration of trying to catch it without a Master Ball).
