Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 24/05 to 30/05 chart
Taylor's star-studded video to have the desired effect?
Despite being 13k behind on sales, OMI's 'Cheerleader' managed to remain at #1 for a third week thanks to a bonus 31k worth of streams, meaning LunchMoney Lewis had to debut at #2 with 'Bills'. Ella Eyre should manage to take advantage of a quite release schedule and earn her first solo Top 10 with 'Together', whilst other new entries to the Top 40 should include Sheppard's 'Geronimo', Ne-Yo's 'She Knows' and Wilkinson's 'Hopelessly Coping'. Also, following the release of its star-studded video, Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' should end up with a high debut this week. Other new entries may include soundtrack songs from Sia and Jessie J, plus YouTuber Andie Case with her mashup cover of 'Want To Want Me/I Want You To Want Me'.
Aiming to hit the #1 spot are both Brandon Flowers (lead of The Killers) and Paul Weller (former lead of The Jam) with their new albums The Desired Effect and Saturns Pattern. Entering the Top 20 may be Faith No More's Sol Invictus, Hot Chip's Why Make Sense?, Mariah Carey's #1 to Infinity and twenty one pilots' Blurryface, whilst other new entries should come from last year's Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst, Shamir and Whitesnake. Radio 1's Big Weekend should give some acts a last minute boost so expect big changes from the Friday mids.

Brandon should easily take the albums but you can't underestimate aul Weller usually sells a lot of CDs! What did his last album start with?

Weller managed 14,953 on the Tuesday mids and finished with 30,269. I can't see his album quite managing that again but I'd say 20k+ was at least for sure.
Posted by: mrbrightside 18th May 2015, 11:38 PM
Weller's last album got to number one on sales of 30k in 2012
Brandon managed 65k first week sales in 2010
So fingers crossed for Brandon

OMI will be top of the chart for the final time (ever possibly? #onehitwonder) this week.

Taylor Swift to be a suprise #1 this week please - Slaying all the competition and snatching weave from Jessie J, Ella Eyre, Carley Rae and Iggy on her way to the top

Could be close enough - 20k for Weller isnt at all bad and Brandon should do 30k!

I think Brandon will do more than 30k. I've read nothing but positives about this album, a huge improvement on his last album.
Posted by: Eric_Blob 19th May 2015, 08:54 AM
Taylor Swift doesn't stand a chance at #1. I think she'll be top 20 (but maybe #1 in the US in the next couple of weeks but they include Youtube streaming there). Omi will be #1. It's a great song but I'm surprised it's so successful in the charts.
Posted by: Mart!n 19th May 2015, 09:20 AM
I was really expecting LunchMoney Lewis to grab a week but I can't see that happening now, looks like Omi will take it. Taylor is probably looking like top 15 by the end of the week, once all the sales are in at the end of the week. Hoping Ella gets a top 10 hit, just got that niggling feeling she might end up at #11. Hopefully she be at least top 4 in the mids today, fingers cross, that should keep her in the top 10.
And don't forget Mint Royale (Twitter) is your best friend after 11am, as I have errands to do this morning.

Adding to the fact that it was only a hit because of Felix Jahn
much like MK's remix of Look Right Through by Storm Queen. Then again he could be another Mr Probz, but saying that his follow ups haven't done a great too well

I think come the end of the week Taylor will be comfortably in the top 10, which could be bad news for Ella Eyre.
It's such a shame Taylor can't make up with Spotify though, I'm convinced Bad Blood could easily have involved itself in the fight for number one this week if Taylor had the benefit of steaming sales

As much as I like Taylor and would want her to return to the top 10 i really hope it's not at the expense of Ella who badly needs a top 10 hit on her own. she's been unlucky twice already and it would be frustrating on a dead week and a fresh Taylor track racing up for her to suddenly miss out once again

We most likely won't get a chart show from Radio 1 on Sunday this weekend, its not even on their schedule due to the Big Weekend concert at Norwich.
With the chart move to Fridays from July, its a blessing in disguise as the big weekend or teen awards won't interrupt it!

I don't get why people are expecting Taylor to be THAT low when she's comfortably #1 (combined) on iTunes. The songs that have been top 5 on sales but not top 10 overall weren't particularly comfortably top 5 on sales to begin with. Taylor will be.

They play the Andie Case song - which is not really a fake version, but more of a cover of "WTWM" because it is higher in the charts then the songs they did not play. And I really hope that the radio play gives her an extra boost - wish the same for Sheppard, still Top 20, should now easily make the Top 40 on Sunday.

Omi's sales are really falling now, if he carries on selling 10k per day, most likely 75k for the week.
As for the albums its going to be a close one I think, it could sway towards Paul, as both artists are selling as much as each other practically.

Sheppard could have been higher if the label didn't keep messing about with the release date

I don't think it's a case of "refusing" as they playlisted Ne-Yo's 'Coming With You' and Wilkinson's song is on the current playlist.

Taylor is looking at going in with roughly 40 - 60k sales, depending on how much she increases or decreases at the end of the week.

Usually on the update, they only have time to play 6 songs. As for Wilkinson, if his song was played earlier on that show, then it's understandable why it never got played on the update. As for Ne-Yo, I expected him to get played as they and sister station 1xtra strongly support the song

True, when was the original scheduled release for the UK?
If it had been released at the same time here, as in main Europe, I reckon it might have gone Top 5, so hoping for Top 40 now seems relly a bit strange

Yeah but they had good reason to as it wasn't doing anything much on pre orders or getting any support from radio but it should be a top 10 at least. Glad it's 18 today. Looks likely that it should make top 40 on Sunday.

I doubt Geronimo would've been much bigger if it were released earlier, Radio 1 would never playlist it, it's firmly Radio 2 material I think, and that doesn't tend to lend itself to single sales. I'm impressed it's doing so well tbh.

I am pleased for S Club 7 climbing, the tour is showing benefit. I am extremely pleased that Brandon Flowers has slightly increased his lead to hold the number 1 position and his new single I Can Change is showing in at number 56.
Take That remain top 30 at this stage of the week which i am happy with.

As for the albums its going to be a close one I think, it could sway towards Paul, as both artists are selling as much as each other practically.
Brandon was 1.4k ahead of Paul yesterday and he's since extended his lead to 2.7k so I would think it's looking pretty likely he'll take the #1.
Really delighted with how well 'The Desired Effect' is selling. Should do about 35k which is very impressive given the five year gap between this and his last record (which debuted with 65k) and the lack of a hit single this time around.

I knew it would, the way it fell from #8 to #17 in the end over the course of the week.
I think she stands a better chance of rescuing more sales in the future than Sucker and FROOT do though, but I guess it remains to be seen.

Not necessarily, weekend sales decisively favoured Paul Simon last month when the mids were suggesting a likely return to the top for James Bay~

That's true and I wouldn't rule it out. My point was more that as of right now, there's not a lot to suggest it'll be very close with Brandon quite comfortably outselling Paul rather than them 'selling as much as each other practically'.

Tove Lo's drops were kind of expected, the album and 'Talking Body' have been out since September last year and 'Habits' was a hit more than a year ago in the UK. Holding back a campaign so long was always going to make it front-loaded
It should also be noted that Queen of the Clouds dropped 14-52 in the US in its second week and now after 27 weeks it's sitting at #29

If I was as hyped a pop star as Charli XCX and my album getting to 99 was considered impressive, I think I'd have a "massive pride reduction".

1 OMI 66.7k
2 Wiz 50.5k
3 Taylor 50.4k
4 Lunch 50.3k

So Taylor is pretty much guaranteed #4 at least. She sold 9.7k yesterday whilst OMI sold 9.3k.

The OCC actually ARE crediting Kendrick on 'Bad Blood' - hooray for inconsistency once again!
I've noticed they now specifically list 'Cheerleader' as 'Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)' as well - this wouldn't be bothersome if it weren't for the fact they literally never do this with remixes, 'Waves' being the biggest recent example of course (or 'Can't Stop Playing (Makes Me High)' for an even more recent though less massive example).

Decent sales for the top 2 albums - Brandon should break 30k and Weller near 30k too. As for the singles I think Omi should break 70k with the top up weekend streams.

Yep, I'd agree with that. I'm impressed that Weller should end up close to 30k as his last studio album in 2012 achieved just over 30k - very consistent despite the drop in the market.

She Knows is dreadful from the clips I've heard on YouTube. would prefer that didn't make the top 40. It's been ages since he's released anything properly decent. For me anyway.

She will be #1 on sales, easily. You only really need to be selling 45-50K to be number 1 on the sales chart these days. I think that'll be enough for 2 on the combined chart with Wiz Khalifa at 3 (streaming advantage over the weekend) and LunchMoney Lewis down to 4.

I'm foreseeing a #11, bless her. I thought this sounded like the one that would do it for her but it's just too identikit of the sound Sigma and DJ Fresh have been peddling out for a long time, and it's fairly average really.
'Comeback' was her brilliant single for me. I wish that had gone top 10.

Yes to Ne-Yo gaining a place since yesterday. Let's hope he can finally settle for a top 40 placing

She'd comfortably get top 10 if it was overplayed by Capital

Yes, Comeback was her standout moment for me, too. I feel it will remain her highest peaking solo single.

Hopefully Hot Chip stay in the top 10!

I fully expected Mariah to be dropping not climbing. Brandon Flowers must be safe for the number 1 album now PIt would be wonderful if Hozier can keeping increasing in the singles and safely stay in the top 20 region.

His streams were increasing earlier this week so he must be breaking through on that format too which is a good sign of longevity!

Noel is still #23 but Blur is #21.

Not Top 40, if we get extra information later, I'll let you know what position.

I expect #26 on Friday for 'Geronimo' means it should be safely top 40.
I'm gonna say #34 at the lowest.

Looks pretty unlikely for Taylor getting #1 this week.

Amazed at how well Mariah Carey is doing! She's had two of the new entries drop behind her but she's not dipped under selling 1k at all. She'll have beaten the 6,547 that her last studio album entered with despite that having the help of '#Beautiful'.

Yeah, no way she's going to get any higher than #4 this week. Top 5 should be Omi, Wiz Khalifa, LunchMoney Lewis, Taylor Swift, Galantis.

Talking Body is unchanged from yesterday, and Queen of the Clouds is now down to 45 and very likely to fall further by the weekend.

Everyone go and stream Ella Eyre a few dozen times, it'll be devastating to see her miss out on another T10! Agree with previous comments though that "Comeback" remains her best solo single, not sure why she's not a bigger chart success - the tracks are all solid pop efforts.

I'm surprised T-Wayne is still not in the top 40 it looked an almost certainty given it just missed out last week. Perhaps yet another #41 peaker?
Posted by: SITCHUAISHAAAN 22nd May 2015, 08:32 PM
Taylor Swift is settling with #4 I guess for this week. If she's stable next week she could get a #3 spot with Omi and Jason Derulo above her!
