St Mirren have been granted permission by Alloa Athletic to speak to Jim Goodwin about their managerial vacancy.

The Paisley club moved for their former club captain after Oran Kearney left following 10 months in charge.

Paul Heckingbottom has been sacked as Hibernian head coach with the Leith club languishing 10th in the Scottish Premiership.

His exit, along with assistant Robbie Stockdale, comes after Hibs shipped five goals to Celtic in Saturday's League Cup semi-final defeat.

Ryan Christie was deemed to have committed a deliberate act of "brutality" against Alfredo Morelos in the incident that led to a red card, the Scottish FA has confirmed.

It has published written reasons for Christie being found guilty of violent conduct against the Rangers striker.

Catching Morelos in the groin area resulted in a two-match ban for the Celtic midfielder.

Winger Jamie Walker believes "everything" has gone wrong for Hearts this season and warned that the next two games could decide their fate.

Hearts, bottom of the Scottish Premiership, face Hamilton Academical on Saturday and then another relegation rival, St Mirren, on Friday.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has been acquitted of assaulting his partner in Edinburgh last year.

Mr Robinson, 45, was on trial at at Edinburgh Sheriff Court accused of assaulting Robyn Lauchlan on Waverley Bridge on 13 December.

The football manager had denied the charges against him.

Hearts have asked players and staff to take a wage cut of 50% because of the financial impact of the coronavirus.

Owner Ann Budge said previously that the club would lose £1m in revenue from the indefinite suspension of football.

The club says the move is to protect "as many jobs as possible" and avoid redundancies, adding the current situation is unsustainable.
