Decided to make the last entry of the year a double, partly because I've had (again) no time to get these out on a week-by-week basis, and partly because despite counting each one of these as I go along, I've somehow ended up with 53 weekly charts for the year...I'm thinking I must've switched day at some point without planning how that would affect the internal logic

Now that the year's over and I have the figures, I will be starting my 2017 songs countdown over in the Countdowns and EOYs subforum soon, so watch out for that if you've been following these charts :3

As it's a double there's a whole bunch of new entries so I won't be listing them in full this week. The top spots go respectively to Martin Garrix and a late surge from the Preatures, so a pretty good microcosm of my taste, something fairly pop and something completely left-field. Garrix closes the year on a very successful note, notching up three chart toppers for a total of 5 weeks of 52 (53?) at the top of the tree. He's however pipped to the post of longest leader by Jhene Aiko who managed six weeks ruling from two leaders. Dua Lipa also managed six weeks, but from three leaders, so I'm bumping her down one. Rita Ora takes the crown for overall longest leader; second comeback single this year Anywhere ruled the roost for a month over November-December. All but seven of this year's leaders will be appearing in my top 100 of 2017 countdown, most of the recent #1s haven't had the time to build up enough plays to compete, while certain other tunes throughout the year also fell away.
