One of her producers accidentally posted the tracklisting for Avril's upcoming album earlier laugh.gif

Will copy all of them in a bit, but there are features from Machine Gun Kelly, Marshmello and Mod Sun!

Ooooh, 'Head Above Water' off of the last one was incredible. Something as good as that pls!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 26th January 2021, 10:46 PM

Good to see this confirmed, it will be a pop-punk album!

Excited! I really enjoyed her last few albums so I hope this one is no different!

Anyone think she could even make a mini-comeback with this album? Perhaps playing off of nostalgia.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th February 2021, 04:24 PM

It's completed! Hopefully the lead single is out soon

Posted by: dannjohn 10th February 2021, 09:58 AM

i kindah hope she keeps her christian pop vibe but moves over to a much more rounded AC kinda vibe... though if those song titles are true... it feels like a BDT part 2 'Love Sux'.

It's been confirmed as a pop-punk album - I imagine it will sound like her recent collab with Mod Sun, Flames (they're apparently dating now)

Posted by: dannjohn 10th February 2021, 12:03 PM

i kinda like 'flame' but i really love the idea of her doing a record in the vein of 'goodbye'. What let HAW down was its lack of hooks in a lot of areas but all in all a good album. Her self-titled remains my fave.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 16th February 2021, 12:00 PM

No ballads! cheeseblock.png

QUOTE
On whether the new album includes any ballads, she replied: "not really lol", ladter adding: "the production is rock and roll baby with tons of electric guitars and live drums. Feldman is an Insane producer. I wish I met him a long time ago."

Posted by: Prettylittlebry 16th February 2021, 01:18 PM

Damn. Love a good avril ballad. especially the ones in here pop punk era.

Posted by: Bjork 16th February 2021, 01:47 PM

me too, think all my fav songs of hers are ballads

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th February 2021, 01:56 PM

Her ballads are fantastic, shame there's not even one on here.

Posted by: Prettylittlebry 16th February 2021, 03:35 PM

Really is a shame because songs like My Happy Ending and Nobody’s Home are her best work. Thought she’d take some inspiration and do something along those lines.

Oh I love this! A classic Avril sound, this would fit in nicely on The Best Damn Thing (throwback to 2007!) but it also has a fresh vibe somehow. I'm eagerly anticipating more.

Posted by: Billy. 10th November 2021, 05:22 PM

Her best for me since Under My Skin, I can’t even lie.

Posted by: TR252 10th November 2021, 05:28 PM

Her best lead single since Girlfriend. What a tune! I think her vocals are perhaps a little too auto tuned but I can get past that, this is a banger. It reminds me a little of a b-side from The Best Damn Thing called Alone.

Posted by: John-James 10th November 2021, 05:30 PM

Obsessed!

Posted by: dannjohn 10th November 2021, 05:35 PM

Her best lead single since 'Girlfriend'???? What rubbish... did you not hear 'What The Hell' and 'Here's To Never Growing Up'. Both better than 'Girlfriend'.

This song is fab though.

I find the latter quite difficult to listen to actually, her voice on it is just not great to these ears whilst Bite Me is fab.

Co-written with MOD SUN, John Feldmann (of Goldfinger/seems to write with every pop-punk revival artist), Omer Fedi (also writing with every pop-punk revival artist) and Marshmello. Produced by Travis Barker and MOD SUN.

Looking forward to checking it out!

Hardly rubbish. WTH and HTNGU are fine songs but they’re nowhere near the best of her output over the years.
HAW is great but Bite Me has the punch I love from an Avril lead single.

Live performance w/ Travis Barker:

Posted by: RobBot 12th November 2021, 01:27 AM

She's one artist I'm happy to never have any artist progression, there's something weirdly comforting about having her still around doing bratty pop-punk songs and Bite Me is fantastic!

Posted by: Last Dreamer 13th November 2021, 08:31 AM

Avril found the fountain of youth. It's her best song since "Hot".

Posted by: Juranamo 13th November 2021, 10:02 AM

Sounds like the recent WILLOW singles (not surprising, given this is also a Travis Barker production...)

If WILLOW and Olivia can get hits with this sort of stuff... Please say Avril can FINALLY get another?

Posted by: Billy. 13th November 2021, 12:53 PM

Do we know how it’s doing on streaming yet?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 13th November 2021, 12:57 PM

Debuted at #73 on Spotify for Thursday, and down to #105 for yesterday (which is actually pretty phenomenal considering the onslaught of Taylor Swift ahead of it)

Thank you! I’m really hoping she can get a bit with this one.

Posted by: Envoirment 13th November 2021, 02:49 PM

#105 is really impressive consdering the Taylor/Silk Sonic debuts (39 tracks ahead of her). If it wasn't for new releases, she would've climbed ohmy.gif I assume a lot of Taylor's tracks will collapse tomorrow, so hopefully it rises a decent amount!

Posted by: Marty 13th November 2021, 03:09 PM

Like this track. Hard to believe she’s 37 now!
Is this in ‘pop’ because it’s pop-punk? Would I find new Blink182, NFG etc singles here as well?
Surely it’s rock, as is most guitar based music.

Rock. lol

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 13th November 2021, 03:40 PM

Posted by: No Sleeep 13th November 2021, 05:35 PM

Loving this! Feels like the most inspired I’ve heard her in a long time, Head Above Water was a decent album but a bit dull overall. I wish she released this in a less competitive month. What are the chances Radio 1 give this a spot? Highly doubt it but I don’t see why they shouldn’t

Posted by: ___∆___ 13th November 2021, 06:29 PM

Releasing mid week was never going to help. But also, the best it can do is set up some good attention for the album to give her another top 10 album hopefully.

It is enjoyable and much more early Avril which seems to be well received.

Posted by: dannjohn 23rd November 2021, 12:35 PM

yeah i don't think this is meant to even be a proper single? mid week release, out of the blue... a buzz single for sure.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 23rd November 2021, 01:11 PM

Hmmm, I'm not sure about classifying it a buzz single. It's not like she can get hits anymore, so I'd say this has done pretty well for her considering?

Posted by: JosephBoone 23rd November 2021, 01:16 PM

It obviously isn't a buzz single - Head Above Water was a midweek release too and this managed to chart higher. Her hit-making days are, generally speaking, in the past, so this did perfectly fine in getting a higher peak.

Posted by: Bré 23rd November 2021, 01:34 PM

Was anyone really seriously expecting an Avril Lavigne single in 2021 to debut higher than #61…?

I think she has a shot at getting another decent sized hit given the current popularity of pop punk but it wouldn't come from 'omg a brand new Avril song, got to stream that right away', it'd come from her getting lucky with something getting big on TikTok which doesn't usually happen immediately.

Posted by: dannjohn 24th November 2021, 09:26 AM

i only call it a buzz single because it was released kinda out of nowhere and we have no idea when the albums coming.

She's said the album is pretty much done, out early next year and most of the song titles have been revealed.

Buzz singles aren't a thing anymore. Avril was just unlikely to get a hit in the streaming era and that's exactly what happened. It's still her highest charting single in the UK in 8 years. That's not saying much but still better than nothing when most of her fanbase has moved on.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th December 2021, 02:28 PM

ATRL is saying that the album will also be titled 'Bite Me', and will be released in February! The second single is expected next month, and this will be the tracklisting: (but not necessarily in this order)

1. Bite Me
2. Bois Lie (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)
3. Cannonball
4. F.U.
5. Love Sux
6. Dare You to Love Me
7. Kiss Me Like the World is Ending
8. Avalanche
9. Break of a Heart
10. Love it When you Hate Me (feat. blackbear)
11. Deja Vu
12. Mark’s Song (feat. Mark Hoppus)

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 12th December 2021, 06:08 PM

Why blackbear tho confused.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th December 2021, 06:24 PM

He's done quite a few pop-punk features (including probably the biggest pop-punk song in years, "my ex's best friend") - and has his own album with Travis Barker out next year!

Posted by: JosephCarey 12th December 2021, 06:25 PM

That's a very predictable and uninspiring selection of features laugh.gif but Bite Me the song is great so I have high hopes for the album.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 9th January 2022, 01:48 AM

The album is actually called Love Sux and it's slated to be released on February 25. The tracklist is written below.

1. Cannonball
2. Bois Lie (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)
3. Bite Me
4. Love It When You Hate Me (feat. blackbear)
5. Love Sux
6. Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending
7. Avalanche
8. Déjà vu
9. F.U.
10. All I Wanted (feat. Mark Hoppus)
11. Dare To Love Me
12. Break Of A Heartache

"Modern dubstep" for a very brief trend that died out a decade ago. Good one

Everybody knows 'Hello Kitty' was a complete embarrassment.

The genre had died by that point, at least in the mainstream. You had the big Tumblr bands like Neck Deep, The Story So Far sprouting around that time though, but they have quite a different crowd.

It’s only come back in such a big way since Machine Gun Kelly/Olivia Rodrigo’s big releases in the last couple of years.

Not sure the genre died that much in 2009/2010, around that time yoy still had the likes of My Chemical Romance, Panic!, You Me At Six, Paramore doing well albeit maybe not having a massive chart hit. Think the problem with Avril is The Best Damn Thing was so heavily manufactured pop influence (at its very best). Still think she could have come back with something similar to this though.

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 16th January 2022, 12:21 AM

In my opinion both songs are really dated and not that great, not in a way that Olivia....or even GAYLE has elevated to a new audience. Not sure if I get the hype!

Nostalgia for the sound now that there wasn't so much of in 2013! Her new stuff's more pop-punk compared to the lighter pop-rock of her self-titled album too.

The new song "love it when you hate me" is so catchy, so early 00's female pop rock it's delightful.

Although, I am not going to lie, until this duet I had never heard of Blackbear... do I want to hear more?

He started out as a fairly mediocre rapper/R&B singer, but has transitioned to more pop/pop-punk sounds over the last year or so. He has an album with Travis Barker out this year, and has this collab on his EP last year that’s worth checking out!

hes on ellie goulding's criminally underrated 'worry about me'

This album is such a rush. Literally everything I want from Avril in 2022.

Really enjoying this, some killer tunes in here! Loving the Sum 41/Blink vibes.
Avalanche is a highlight.

This album is bringing me a source of joy this morning. She is 37 going on 16 and I sincerely hope that never changes. 🤩

Posted by: TR252 25th February 2022, 11:24 AM

I’m not sure about anybody else but I wasn’t expecting the opening line/scream at 6:30am this morning but on my listen. 😂

Posted by: AdamG 25th February 2022, 12:13 PM

Really impressed with this.

FU and Bois Lie are great

Love the album!

Posted by: Envoirment 27th February 2022, 04:37 PM

The album is great. I hope it will do well and that one of the songs becomes a hit/goes viral on Tiktok.

It's her most criticallly acclaimed album so far as well! cheer.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th February 2022, 12:00 AM

She will easily go top 10 I think and possibly top 5.

Posted by: dannjohn 28th February 2022, 04:26 PM

its weird i'm seeing people complain there's not enough ballads on the album and then saying her last album was boring (as it had too many ballads on it???)

Posted by: Viper* 28th February 2022, 05:07 PM

Seeing mostly positives for this album, which is nice.

Am I being too optimistic hoping for it to be top 5? wub.gif

Posted by: Viper* 28th February 2022, 05:17 PM

As I posted that, midweeks have it at #3 with 8/10 of the top 10 being new entries so it could definitely hold up for a top 5.

Yay cheer.gif

I haven’t stopped playing this album since it was released, really strong effort, I’m so happy!

Massive return to form for her! I love it wub.gif

I'm so happy it looks like her collab with WILLOW persuaded her to come back with this sound. Welcome back Ms. Lavigne. Her best album since 'The Best Damn Thing', for sure!

Based on the first post in this thread, it looks like it was planned wayyyy before that collab came out!

Shame it doesn't have a Hello, Kitty!!, but this sound is what she should have stuck with all along, just like Lily Allen has always stook with left field Britpop.

Posted by: Bustin Jieber 1st March 2022, 03:22 PM

I really love 'Avalanche'. It's a bit more "depressive" in tone than everything up to that point on the album, but it makes a welcome change of pace just as everything starts to get a little samey.

Posted by: Rob 2nd March 2022, 03:41 PM

The album is good but a bit too samey. I don't need a ballad but one or two mid-tempos would really have helped the overall pacing.

Posted by: Mangø 3rd March 2022, 10:24 PM

Having now given the album a couple of spins, I agree with the comments that it all sounds a bit samey. 'Dare To Love Me' is the closest thing to a ballad, she definitely should have included a couple more slowies. I quite like about half the songs on it (including the two singles which are great) but the other half are pretty forgettable and seemed to blend into one another. Overall I preferred her previous album which at least showed progression.

Me too! Shocked at how much I love it!

Bois Lie is my favourite song on the album!

Posted by: Jade 4th March 2022, 02:58 PM

Just gave the album a spin and one thing I couldn't shake was how much the instrumental of 'F.U.' was reminding me of Paramore's 'Misery Business'! Watch out Avril laugh.gif

I think my favourite album tracks on first listen are 'Cannonball' (what a rush of an opener *.*) and 'Dare To Love Me'.

Posted by: Slayer 5th March 2022, 12:57 PM

Charted at 3 this week, which is great!

Her highest charting album since 2007!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 23rd August 2022, 04:22 PM

A ‘Bois Lie’ video is coming next week!

Posted by: dannjohn 4th November 2022, 08:40 AM

Deluxe out 25th Nov with I’m a Mess, Mercury in Retrograde & acoustic versions of singles. I’m a Mess is also out now.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 20th January 2023, 12:14 AM

It looks like there’s more pop-punk Avril on the way as she features on her boyfriend MOD SUN’s new album ‘God Save the Teen’, out on Feb 3rd. They previously collaborated on ‘Flames’.

Avril was on great form last night at Alexandra Palace. Setlist could be a bit longer but it didn't really matter once I was there, full of hits, great atmosphere, loads of energy and her voice was in great form. I'm going again tonight for the last night of the tour!

Posted by: ___∆___ 10th May 2023, 09:00 AM

Can’t make it tonight and Avril’s team have blocked ticket transfers when selling them at face value via Twickets or Ticketmaster resale - really helpful, it’s like they want fans to pay over the odds!

OMG the concert entry was a shambles last night! A total embarrassment for all partys involved!!

I did have a good time once the show started!!

They must of come up with a better system tonight!!

Posted by: TR252 10th May 2023, 04:42 PM

I'm going again tonight too and I did hear the paper tickets was a bit of a shambles even though Ticketmaster said they are fine and I'm a bit worried about it too... oh well, lets see what happens.
