Literally anything could happen as we have already seen in the knockouts so far

Japan looking for the upset and will be encouraged with Russia going through against Spain. Although that looks very unlikely.

The game is live on BBC. Please use this thread for speculation, pre and post match chat on the Belgium v Japan game.

Hoping for upsets in both games today but I'm not expecting it with either. Japan have played with spirit when it's mattered in this tournament at times (against Senegal and at times against Colombia), and at other times haven't played well at all and have admittedly fluked a bit.

Belgium will probably make short work of them. A well-timed Honda sub may spice it up a bit though.

Japan have actually had a few good chances this half, I feel like they will end up letting one in though sad.gif

Belgium are looking surprisingly poor, I wouldn't be surprised if this went to Japan.

This is easily becoming one of the most interesting and surprising World Cups of this century.

What was that about how England should have made the effort to get a game against Japan?

Belgium are so much like England in 2006 it is unreal. Great team, but piss poor manager. Japan are technically fantastic, very impressive.

I’m so sad I’m not watching this. I will watch it on catchup when I’m home. Never expected to see this. HOLD IT GLORIOUS NIPPON and let us be grateful we avoided them.

Lukaku with an absolute sitter.

England geniuses by ensuring they avoided Japan! Martinez will no doubt be sacked tomorrow morning!

Belgium are winning this, hopefully Japan go for a third instead of siting deep!
