Don’t know if this is true or just a joke but apparently Kylie is appearing on Ed Sheeran’s new album? Not really something I’m particularly excited for but wow yet another big name Kylie has managed to collab with!

I think she's just doing backing vocals on one song, from what I've seen.

From the Mirror:

QUOTE
Ed Sheeran teams up with Kylie Minogue to record tune for his new album
Ed Sheeran and Kylie Minogue linked up in March at the memorial of music mogul Michael Gudinski and the Brit asked the Aussie to be on his song called Visiting Hours

It's a combination that will have Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran fans in dreamland.

The Queen of Pop is set to appear on the flame-haired singer's newest album.

It follows the pair's link up in March when Ed made a tearful appearance in Australia at the memorial for his friend Michael Gudinski.

The Shape of You singer, 30, performed a short set before joining the Aussie icon on stage to sing some of her biggest hits, including The Locomotion.

And now the duo are reuniting once more to create a tune that is no doubt destined to be a hit.

Kylie's vocals are set to feature on Ed's song Visiting Hours on his upcoming record, which is expected to be named Subtract.

A source told The Sun : "He wrote Visiting Hours in quarantine in Australia, performed it at the gig and asked Kylie to feature on it as she was there too, with the pair having hit it off.

"The song was a dedication to Michael and Kylie felt it right to put her vocals on the track. It was a fitting tribute to the music legend and she was flattered to be asked by Ed."

It depends on it having the momentum to end up within Ed's top 3 tracks of the week (if it's just an album track, rather than a single). That'll be determined by its position on the track list and prominence in playlists. Fingers crossed though!

If it makes the selection for a single it could return Kylie to the upper reaches of the chart if she is credited.

I'll be incredibly surprised if she's a feature/credited feature, but like one of our residents would say - let's see biggrin.gif

The track is already out there to hear as Ed performed it at Michael Gudinski‘s memorial earlier this year:

This could open Kylie to a new audience. When I was growing up there were artists I knew by name but I didn't know their songs because their biggest hits were before my time. I think there are many younger Ed fans who never really listened to Kylie songs, maybe they are going to get curious about her because of the duet.

I'd love that to happen and sometimes it does work, where the wild roses grow did it really well.

I would welcome it to be the follow up to his current chart topper Bad Habits.

Manifesting the idea of Kylie getting her 8th #1 18 years after the last.

Imagine if that happened, it would be something else, i think a Top 10 though would also be amazing but she may not even get credited sad.gif or it may never be a single. If it is a single and she does get a credit i will be greedy and say please do a cd single.
