The TBC's are usually placed in alphabetical order and the TBC is after Stormzy + no ME! on the playlist, I'd honestly be shocked if it wasn't Taylor!

was asking on another thread, is the new Taylor the proper 2nd single from the album then?
it's weird it's only track #4 on NMF and no HH

Posted by: M4NG0 14th June 2019, 09:01 AM

Just heard new Little Mix, colour me disappointed. New Taylor is better but still not amazing. Pretty quiet week for new releases otherwise, compared to the busy schedules of the last few weeks.

Posted by: Bjork 14th June 2019, 09:12 AM

Little Mix reminds me of when Sugababes returned with Get Sexy based on the Right Said Fred track
kinda in the same point other careers too
surprised their label cannot shop for better original songs

Posted by: M4NG0 14th June 2019, 09:14 AM

At this point Little Mix really needed to come with a Max Martin banger

Posted by: Lomadz 14th June 2019, 09:19 AM

Not keen on the Little Mix song but think it will be a hit. The Sugababes comparison seems odd, they were done for at that stage where as Little Mix made millions from touring over the last year.

I want to like the new Taylor as I'm a fan of hers but it's not doing enough for me....especially for a second single.

Will be interesting to see if Drake can get a massive hit with one of these.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th June 2019, 09:21 AM

It's not little mix best song but it's off to a strong enough start.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 14th June 2019, 09:21 AM

I feel like there are parallels between Little Mix's LM5 era and Sugababes Catfights, so I don't think it's the most outlandish comparison. It also feels like a crucial single for them if they're to continue future success, as 'Get Sexy' was for them.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 14th June 2019, 10:15 AM

Drake releasing at least means Ed / Justin and Lil Nas X won’t be fighting for number one yet again this week.

Saw Little Mix perform their new single on The One Show, a little underwhelming in my opinion.
After the previous era it was entirely predictable they would come back with a well known sample, love a bit of Soul II Soul and 'Back to Life' was a class apart.

Posted by: Ianmusic31 14th June 2019, 08:14 PM

They had a dark green update immediately after and pushed Taylor down from 0.83 to 0.8. That's about all that can be expected from a One Show performance I'd say!

Really never notice this before, and tbf LM were on their first day of release so the fan base would have been downloading earlier in the day so its kept it stabile and number 2 is a Taylor swift first day track which usually does well (on itunes at least)

Anyway none of the songs aren't in any playlist even in the US and they don't sound like huge smashes anyway, so it's just a nice gift for the NBA win I guess.

LM have been on a pretty downward spiral with recent singles but this really does take the mustard - terrible use of sample contributing to an all-round very shoddy record.

The difference being that Little Mix were already selling loads. Usually the "biggest boosts" come from acts who are either mid-low top 100 or something so their boosts are noticeable.

I think Omertà is only doing much better than MITG at the moment because people are downloading the EP, which will count towards the sales of Omertà (being track one).

In agreement with all of this... the Little Mix song, while I didn't hate it, just sounded like one of those tacky X-Factor mashups and given I'm not aware of what their plans are at the moment, I'd say it sounds like something to lead a Greatest Hits or something.

Posted by: sammy01 15th June 2019, 12:43 PM

Little Mix just have no idea what lane they are in and it it absolutely reflecting in their music output. Their more younger fan friendly music has gotten them more success but it started to clash with them dressing and acting more grown up/sexily. So then they tried more grown up last era and it didn't sell as well, so now you have a bit of a dire mix of the 2. A cool 90s sample with childish hooks and horns, it is a shame as they are talented and move was an absolute triumph but right now they deserve to flop for selling out any modicum of artistry and growth to sell and please record company bosses.

Posted by: Ianmusic31 15th June 2019, 01:11 PM

Think you may be speaking a little too early, its just climbed 10 spots on Spotify today.

I think flopping is a bit harsh until we see where it charts as it seems to be doing ok.

Girl, please! It is floping

Posted by: danG 17th June 2019, 03:41 PM

Let's at least wait a few weeks before we decide if the song has flopped. It's off to a decent start considering the underperformance of 'Think About Us' and 'LM5'.

Posted by: Bré 17th June 2019, 03:43 PM

Please. It FLOPPED. How you can even begin to argue different is hilarious. She didn't give 1M copies away just in the UK, she gave 1M free copies WW. BIG difference. She should be doing better, especially with Spotify at her disposal.

It's a flop. You can try to twist it all you want, but the fact remains, it flopped. FloppedT.

well she used all the guns in the video aka the reunion with Katy Perry

Posted by: Bré 18th June 2019, 01:06 PM

'Castles' seems to be doing much better on sales than Freya's previous single (or at least showing more legs, looking back at the sales chart I see 'You Mean The World To Me' debuted quite a bit higher but then dropped off quickly whereas this one is doing the opposite) yet still hasn't made the top 100 overall while YMTWTM had a pretty decent run in there. I hope she can get some traction on streaming with this soon as I think it does deserve to be a bigger hit for her.

Posted by: pippa 18th June 2019, 03:37 PM

Castles should eventually grace the Top 100 to provide her with a 3rd Top 100 entry.

Completely agree, initially thought that delaying the album was a bad move, but if 'Mad Love' continues to gain traction it could really work in her favour.
