Okay noticed a big jump for Britney Spears could she enter the official charts this season?

Potentially but unlikely I'd say. She'll be on ACR and she's very much reliant on Spotify, she's absolutely nowhere on Apple Music's chart.

Wham are up quite a bit on last year whilst Mariah's numbers fall, might be closer between them and Mariah for post Xmas #1 (if either of them get it) than we thought

So how much does she sell on ACR, is it 1:300 rule? So 300 streams is 1 sale?

Sorry just trying to understand, cos she got 129,500 streams yesterday on Spotify that’s 460 sales if it’s on ACR?

It's 1:200 from paid users and 1:1200 from free users. The pinned FAQ thread explains it.

It's not that simple - it's 1:200 for premium (paid-for) streams, and 1:1200 for ad-funded (free) streams - impossible to know the split!

(oops Dan beat me!)

The power of playlist inclusion and ordering becomes so hugely evident at Xmas, Brenda Lee the third most popular Xmas song!?!

Are Wizzard even on the main playlists, seems criminally low for them. And no Little Mix/Mabel at all!!

Yeah I mentioned that in the previous thread - the likes of Wizard and Slade are missing from many Spotify playlists so are much lower down that you expect. They do better on Apple Music tho.

I always think of those two in the top classics tier with like Mariah, Wham, Shakin Stevens, Pouges & Band Aid

No, sadly the top two main playlists Spotify are pushing are US-centric so either don't feature the big British hits or put them way down the list ('Fairytale of New York' is literally the LAST song on their main playlist). The third one (Christmas Crackers) is more UK-centric and even that only has Wizzard as song #17.

Whereas Apple Music are clearly pushing them well because they're #22 there.

OTOH Brenda Lee is surprisingly as low as #38 on AM so it goes the other way too.

So a whole generation of British Spotify users will grow up to US Xmas classics then 😂. Apple represents a lot more of a % than people think because the British Xmas classics like Wizzard always ends up charting.

Surely the LM label know how to promote a song though, seems Liam would be looking for more WW success.

well, the chart is flooded Xmas songs but where is the L Mix song, last time I checked it was below 500 on Apple and it's not top 200 on Spotify
so their label is sure not doing a good job so far

The Little Mix song is beyond average and their label spent a lot of money on getting Bounce Back playlisted twice.

I'm guessing Little Mix xmas song was done on the cheap in the hope it would naturally catch on rather than the label pay for its success.

Ooh, TikTok is developing some taste, I already know and love that Don Toliver song as well (was a #2 hit on my personal chart earlier this year, he's a Travis Scott protégé, sounds a bit like Akon lol).

Looking forward to Spotify being difficult to follow for the next 3 and a half weeks though xx (but yay The Pogues in the top 10 x)

#6 is a new peak for 'Santa Tell Me' according to Kworb btw! (It says Chris Rea is at a new peak as well but it's also showing only 12 days in the top 200 so it must have been split off from a previous entry of the song for some reason, it's definitely been top 10 in the past).

Why did Britney Spears never really do anything with My Only Wish This Year when it was released 19 years ago? For such a big name at that time it passed under the radar everywhere. Its a nice little jolly song

Yeah it was never a single, it’s never appeared on her albums and she didn’t even make a video for it. It’s only ever been featured on compilation albums.
