you'd think they'd be able to just get anyone they wanted without having to put out a casting call and letting the info leak
regardless if true, YESSS
IT'S ABOUT TIME
Please be true.
Please be a Whats My Name and not a Take Care
What's My name is my favourite Rihanna and Take Care is one of the best Drakes so I am excited for this!
Take Care
WMN is one of the two most ridiculously overrated songs she's done along with We Found Love but I think that style again is one that might actually get her a hit so it might be best
Hopefully this will kickstart the album campaign finally. What I need from Rihanna is one mediocre album every year and a string of hits to go on each.
I'm not holding out much hope, but the two previous Drake involvements were both amazing.
I really WANT to like her again.
Huh there were THREE singles??
Sounds rnb and why are there a million songs calles Work?
Snippeeeets!
https://twitter.com/R2O_ELIAS/status/686185971663171586?lang=en-gb
https://twitter.com/R2O_ELIAS/status/686201654597685248
I think she's truly trying to ditch her pop girl image and be an urban girl which works for me but I do still wanna see her deliver a WFL type smash again. The snippets sound okay, not amazing, but their not very clear so i'll hold out. Come on Rih pull through, I didn't buy Golden Circle at Wembley for nothing
Well that sounded pretty bad as well
Sounds another mess
This is beyond Attpop now tbh.
OH MY GOD
What's My Name is an 11/10 moment so this should be great!!
The clips eere messy tbh :/ No 11/10 moment
'Take Care' is way more interesting than 'What's My Name'.
Not on Rihanna's part really considering it was a sample/cover.
I think Rihanna delivered one of her most emotive moments ever on her part in that song though, she sounded so warm in her delivery like she properly connected with the lyric and its meaning. I hold both songs in very high regard for her though!
I can't hear the clips as the Twitter account that was linked on the previous page no longer exists.
Scott Mills is playing a new Rihanna single from 1pm!
OMG GORLWHAT
Just as I am heading out of town as well ffs
Is there any way I can listen to that radio station as a Dutchie?
Yes, it's getting a premier worldwide so I'm assuming it is out tomorrow, possibly along with Anti?
IT CAN'T BE!
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
According to ATRL that is indeed the cover
Looks great and if it's anything like the song, this should be a fun banger
Kinda sad how the braille is gone tho
I don't mind the artwork, but that font is awful.
So is the song and album dropping on iTunes immediately after the premier?
omfg that artwork is terrible (it also serves as my reaction to it lol)
I believe a demon has possessed her in the last 2 years or so.
Playing on Capital next is this real life?
Only caught the last minute on Z100.
what is that mumbling? Nah.
It's on TIDAL already: http://tidal.com/track/56638583
I'm assuming this is Australia only available so far?
BBC RADIO JUST SAID IT"S THE LEAD FROM ANTI AND ANTI WILL BE OUT IN A FEW DAYS!
IT'S ON
What is that thing she keeps doing with her voice lately? I HATE it.
The beat is good though, shame she ruins it with her recent tone deaf musical ability
C.R.A.P.
I'm enjoying it but LEAD single and a massive hit?
After all this time she could have come up with something a little less monotonous.
NOT what I imagined but FFS grew on me. I can see this being a bop
It's just a bit there. I like the tropical vibe but that's the kind of song noone would bother listening twice if it weren't Rihanna.
It should be a grower once the chorus is added
Drake is great though
The WORST she has put out in a looooong time.
Honey, I know American Oxygen was a flop, but it's not nice to just abandon it like that
American Oxygen >>>>>>
Let's just hope there is a hell of a lot better on the album dropping Friday.
Maybe people will cherry-pick other songs over this when it drops and they will cancel this as lead? It just isn't up to it.
She sounds like she's gargling on it.
She legit sounds wasted on it. Drake part was good, at least.
Can we give it 10 minutes before we start calling for it to be cancelled!
Honestly, were people expecting Only Girl pt.2? It's clear that's not what this album is about.
The reaction on Twitter is brutal
I listened to it three times now and.. not a big fan. I'm sure it will grow but I can't see this be a hit, especially not in The Netherlands as we always snub her more urban tunes.
If this is the best they could pick for the Lead single, She best get back to Work!
yall seriously telling me this won't set you on fire when u hear it in tha club??
Listen again: http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/rihanna-work/
It's on iTunes
Still confused why she wouldn't wait till friday, but hey ho
Stupid decision to release today. It doesn't scream hit as it is without releasing with two days of the week left.
Rihanna doesn't care for the irrelevant UK charts
It'll probably be falling by Friday, let's face it. I can't see it doing better than BBHMM which was and still is an instant straight up jam.
This makes me feel like a speak English as a second language
It isn't just UK charts though, worldwide release date is a Friday so really she is disregarding the charts in every country.
Not really a game she should be playing right now with the performance of the previous singles and everyone getting fed up of waiting quite this long.
Can we just wait and seehow it does before y'all start calling it a flop tho? My timeline is going crazy over this song
People were bashing WMN as well
Mercifully, it's not terrible but the half-hearted approach she appears intent on taking really is dismal, and she knows that people will lap it up because of who she is. She's not been a great popstar since she went back to Chris Brown.
💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿
This is f***ing terrible. I've completely given up on her at this point.
Agreed with those saying Drake has the best part. Where is the chorus or the hooks?
It's cool. Love her accent, that has always been why I put her on a level above other popstars. Chilled but mildly clubby vibes are clearly in, so it doesn't seem all that terrible a decision either.
i actually really love this i'm not disappointed with this at all
*cue eight-track album including all four singles and an american oxygen club mix
It sounds like a freestyle.
Just purchased it and it's on repeat, it is heavenly on iTunes quality
My signature is more apt than before.
It's ok, I like the bassline a lot.
She sounds a bit odd on it vocally but it's an earworm due to its repetitive nature.
Obviously not one of her best though.
I don't know how I feel.
I feel like a grower.
really liking this though it does remind me of something kelly rowland would release off one of her flop records crossed with 'take care' in parts....
Take Care with the inflections turned up was pretty much all I could think of but I didn't want to say it in case that seemed too obvious just because it's another Ri/Drake collab.
for some reason it reminds me of you da one? which is a good thing by my standards, but hardly by chart-success standards.
Nothing like Take Care. It's pretty awful.
It's decent but doesn't sound like a lead single or chart hit. Drake's part is really good though and I really like the chorus even if it's a bit monotonous and she sounds high with all the vocal slurring.
Drake's bit is as shit as the rest of it.
Absolutely horrific on first listen, this better be a grower or I think i've lost all my Anticipation for this era
You tell em, Sam!!
Nope Drake's part isn't better. Nope it's not like Take Care.
Well this is far from her best for me but then I've loved very little Rihanna post-Disturbia. It's much better than FourFiveSeconds, BBHMM and American Oxygen for me, which doesn't say much but I don't think it deserves all the hate it's getting! Fairly decent song.
Could do without Drake though.
This is terrible! What is wrong with her?
I've completely lost hope in Rihanna now. ANTI is an album I'd rather never have to hear.
Still, at least Russian Roulette, Disturbia, Only Girl (In The World), Diamonds, We Found Love and the like exist.
Oh my goodness at these piss poor vocals.
This is really shit, sorry. She sounds like she has given up singing in the chorus
Seriously can't get enough of this.
Been on repeat all afternoon #banger
Actually love this, about time she released another good song!
Dreadful. RIP Rihanna 2005-2011.
i don't get this
This is good but nothing amazing. Kelly Rowland is quite a good comparison, it's like an album track from her. It might grow but it's MILES better than American oxygen and I probably prefer it to BBHMM too. FFS is the best from this era so far though.
This had 8 co-writers.
Let that sink in.
I LOBE IT
I feel like this will be a grower for people. First listen my reaction was like 'what the hell is this ?' but after a few listens i'm really liking it ! . I just love the Carribean chilled vibe to it.
Oh God.
PJ
http://www.popjustice.com/briefing/empty-page-where-a-positive-rihanna-single-review-would-have-been/
That's lethal!
surprisingly something of a bop~
I don't think this'll grow on me tbh. Urban Rihanna is fine with me but her (big lead) singles need to be pop smashes and this is not that.
Hmm... it's very "track 8" on the album, isn't it? I like it, but I don't like it anywhere near as much as I should for a Rihanna song! It's NOT a hit at all and despite it's repetitive chorus/hook, I don't think it's particularly catchy?
It's alright, but I really wanted a BANGER! Oh RiRi
---
You know if she released 'American Oxygen' and now this and she has BETTER on her album. I'm going to be frustrated. I kinda want the album to be poor (with the exceptions of FFS & BBHMM - and maybe one or two other tracks) just so she flops majorly with it and resorts back to the chart smashes! Like, there's nothing wrong with this sort of sound, but this is NOT something you lead an album with.
It makes me worry for the quality of the album if she's been away for this long and the best she could come back with for the lead single is this.
A few more listens tonight and I just can't get into it, it's so empty of both style and substance. I liked the tropical vibe on first listen but now I can't even hear that vibe. It's like a light, stripped and boring re-edition of "Cheerleader"/"Sorry". I'd be surprised to see it becoming a hit beyond the initial hype.
Oh Riri.
Terrible. 0/4. Try again.
why is this getting such a negative reception?? It's not exactly her best song ever but I am very much enjoying it.
Wurwurwurwurwur
It's fine, might grow, will never be among her best or even her second-tier singles though. It's so weird to see her floundering like this even a year after she aborted R8. Seems like she's become stuck in some pretension of being an artiste but just doesn't have the tunes or the ideas to back it up.
In other words, just give us bloody LOUD Vol 2, Riri.
Gah, this is frustrating. After the wait, I really thought she'd break out with something spectacular but this is just really poor. I love Bitch Better Have My Money and it's easily my favourite of the era so it's nothing against urban-RiRi but this is actually just really annoying. The 'wuhwuhwuhwuhwuh' in her nasally tone (which isn't usually a problem at all) is really grating by the time you get to the end of the song and Drake is the only thing to relieve you from it. His bit is decent.
Like, seriously poor. If it does become a grower, fair play, but this just feels beyond disappointing and lazy.
genuinely confused how this isn't a full blown BANGA for ppl? like I'm so in.. tho maybe it's a case of I've waited so long I'll take anything
My initial reaction to Work was "whaaaat is this", but I'm really feeling it now. Reading the lyrics helped.
The beat behind Drake's verse is lush. This is a subtle lead single but I do like it quite a bit.
The chorus' are a little annoying but it's actually not that bad! it's a little bit better than AO for me (and her others the past year or so)
Actually the chorus' go on for too long so I'm probably only going to like this on the first listen Drake bit is ok as well.
If anyone else is annoyed by the MILLION POP-UPS that come from that video on the blog site, you can listen directly on Tidal just by clicking the Work artwork and then clicking the speaker that shows up. It will play in background on that tab too.
http://tidal.com/#!/ca
It's decent as an ALBUM TRACK tbh. The Drake part is useless and why do loadsa rappers start 'Yea ... ok!' His part is the worst. It reminds me of youtube commentators qhy used to ask why Drake and not others got famous.

Guatemala don't wanna WERWERWERWERWERWER
This is already becoming a Rihanna classic for me and creeping up my rankings with every listen, that chorus is one of her catchiest yet
The annoying thing about this is the beat/production is actually kind of good (reminds me of 'Feelin' Myself'), but it's just that chorus and the fact she sounds like she's in a K-hole throughout the whole thing.
I apologize, this is actually a bit of a bop
Not really complaining though. This is all right from her although she has done better.
Those Guatemalans have taste!
Ok so I now LOVE THIS such a grower I can see why it would divide people but I find it so catchy and I love the Carribean vibe to it !
It's a grower but I still think the Guatemalans have the reet idea
This is kinda growing, not the music or quality I want from RiRi but a bop nonetheless!
It's on Spotify hoes x
https://open.spotify.com/album/6LVTacUC2pAid6rkgBhpV7?ref=wp
Enters at #13 on this week's single chart.
I'm trying but this is awful. I reckon I'll love it if I'm drunk on a night out though.
jesus what a letdown
Is there a video for this?
#2 in today's update, behind ZAYN, but bear in mind streaming hasn't been included yet.
Oh ma gaaawd it's FLOPPING!!
1-4?!
I like the song now too!!
Neefs video asap.
#3 in today's midweeks.
So so obsessed with this. Definitely in her top 5 singles for me already.
Heard it out a couple of times at the weekend and OH MY LORD so good.
as soon as I heard it start
"TOP 10 ON THE HOT 100: Rihanna roars in at No. 9 on the Hot 100 with Anti lead single "Work" (featuring Drake) -- her 27th top 10 hit, and Drake's 15th. She now ties Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Elton John for the fifth-most top 10s in the Hot 100's history. (Madonna leads with 38.) “Work” is Rihanna’s milestone 50th Hot 100 hit"
Also sold 126k to top the digital song chart
Hearing this when I was out on Friday made me finally like the song. It sounds amazing in a club!
Still #3 today. Sold 8k yesterday.
This is holding up extremely well, a lot better than I thought it would!
#3 again today, sold 7300 copies yesterday.
Debuts at #99 in the Dutch Top 100. Lolflop.
She NEEDS to put this on Spotify like RIGHT NOW
#4 this week with no Spotify streaming
Tomorrow we will see the first Spotify numbers so it'll be interesting to see how it'll do on there
It's so annoying, why doesn't she put it on Spotify immediately
Sorry if it's already been posted but according to Twitter account Shady Music Facts has posted a photo of Drake and Ri on the set for the video for Work:
2007 hair. But oh what is that dress? Very unflattering!
So 'Work' is apparently #1 on UK Spotify charts and #2 on US iTunes. It's doing really good! She needs to drop the video soon (hopefully Friday).
#4 again this week on the Official Chart.
This is probably one of my favourite singles from her now it's such a grower havent been able to stop playing it since it came out. Also it sounds AMAZING in a club !
This is smashing.
An okay song, hasn't quite grown on me just yet. But still it's better than some of the singles from her last album such as (Stay, What Now & Pour It Up). Also including "American Oxygen" & "Bitch Better Have My Money" from last year also, they just didn't do anything for me.
every time I hear this it sounds as fresh as listening to it premiere and I go a bit jelly inside. so so good
Full video coming Monday & it climbed to number 3 in the chart today!
It's also #4 on the Dutch top 100 and entered at #16 in the Dutch top 40 today.
The 'Work' video looks pretty boring tbh. I hope it's more than just these dancing scenes. I've seen enough twerking and ass shaking in music videos now for a lifetime kthnxbye.
The video is out!
http://vevo.ly/FkuEiC
YT Video--
Both of the videos are not very exciting . But I prefer the second one 'cause she looks so beautiful and young with that long hair. I wish she didn't cut it off.
Two videos Both are such non-events though. This is not the same artist who produced the incredible BBHMM video.
Does Youtube play count count for the UK charts or just the US?
Rihanna has become a caricature of herself. The video is as painful to watch as watching an episode of Geordie Shore, the only difference is that she really thinks she's doing art.
Alcohol, drugs and cheap sex, that's what it sells to people. Great. Now let's go back watching Beyoncé's video.
The subtitles in the YouTube video don't bring me any closer to deciphering the lyrics.
(also ppl saying it's not a very exciting video / such a non event - I really think the two videos suit the song more than some structured storylined one would. just letting loose in da club n that's it and that's basically what I get from the song)
I LOVE both videos yeah there both very simple but they fit the vibe of the song so well and in both very different ways . The 1st one fits the Carribean cultral vibe to it where as the 2nd one is more intimate with just her and Drake. I don't really think think the song needed a big high budget video either tbh it just needed a video that suited the vibe of the song and both videos acheived that !
Nipples.
I like both videos although they're not the most eventful, I think the first is probably my favourite because it has a bit more going on, she just has so much swagger.
At first I thought the second one was gonna be for TV 'cause there is less drugs etc. but then I realised the video had more of her nips in it than her face
'Work' is #1 in the US this week! Her 14th.
I think they both suit the song perfectly. Still can't get enough of this, such a jam.
She looks like a Vietnamese street walker in that dress!
Already bored of this (as predicted, tbf) so I hope the video boosts aren't insanely massive
Both videos are pretty dull.
The song has never really done much for me and it's never grown. I'd put it on the bottom half of Anti easily.
The 2nd video is more appealing but the first video fits the song better. 11million views and counting! And it is her 14th US number 1. Rhenna stays proving the haters wrong
Nips tho *.*
I can't get enough of Work! I think I would go as far as saying that it's my favourite single by her since We Found Love.
I watched the video yesterday, I don't care for it. The song is also starting to wear on me too, sadly.
'Work' went from #16 to #7 this week in the Dutch top 40.
And 'Work' is #1 this week on the Dutch top 100. It is her second #1 on the chart, after 'Don't Stop the Music'.
I heard this in the klab last night and I almost lost my shit!
Climbs to a new peak of #2!
It is SLAYING so much right now. Rihanna denying the flop claims yet again and the album is stabil around the world as well. E.G. In The Netherlands her previous albums fell out of the top 10 almost straight away, while Anti is still stop 10 after 4 weeks
On first listen this was so average and I think everyone held it at a high standard because we'd been waiting so long for Anti but now I literally can't get enough for it. Nice to see she's overtaken Lukas Graham on Spotify and hopefully is closing the gap to number one! This ERA looks so much better now she's got a number 1 in the US, her album placing in the UK tho needs a boost
I'm really surprised at how well this has done! It's so catchy, but I wasn't expecting the general public to be here for this type of music from Rihanna. It's also good to see the album holding up well too.
Still can't get enough of this. Think it might even be my favourite single of hers...at least top 3 along with BBHMM and We Found Love.
+ this remix is heavenly
Nope. It's been a big hit for her not only in the US but in other territories too, including the UK. The cultural impact it's having at the moment is huge atm too. So many memes and random videos and vines and stuff!
I think this will be one of the most remembered songs this year, I mean this song is EVERYWHERE. When this drops in the club everyone goes wild, it's all over radio, the memes just keep on coming, even if it only peaked at No. 2 over here it's still gonna outlive that god-awful 7 Years song
Yeah, this is HUGE worldwide. Surely going to be remembered as one of her biggest hits now. I'd never have expected that after it premiered/ BBHMM performance.
So glad this has been so massive! Will definitely become one of her defining songs now.
Without a doubt my favourite of hers now, just can't get enough of it.
So many great remixes too. The Lost Kings one on repeat at the moment 🙌🏼
For me, this is her most overrated song along with Stay. Does pretty much nothing to get me excited, although I dont hate it like the latter. Its just meh.
New lead singles rank time.
01. Diamonds
02. Umbrella
03. Work
04. Only Girl (In the World)
05. We Found Love
06. Pon de Replay
07. SOS
08. Russian Roulette
Hm, I like 'Work' but it doesn't deserve to be the worldwide smash that it is. I'm hoping 'Kiss It Better' does well worldwide! In comparison to the other massive pop females, I would say Rihanna is my least favourite, I don't go back to her songs as much as I do with the others.
The album's performance in the UK is incredibly woeful though, I thought it's opening sales would have outsold it's current total.
When would a song's success be deserving tho?
The people obviously love it so its deserved as far as I know
Yeah but despite it being pushed, there needs to be public interests. Its callout scores on radio were great and it's been selling really well. The fact that her name (which was kinda tarnished by her flops) helped the song a bit, doesn't take away from hoe deserved its success was imo
Twerk a biT omg
This is alright actually in clubs.
Album poop.
Better than Robot Britney's Work anyway.
Not a memorable Ri song but decent.
Just made an 8th week at the top in America, her second longest running number 1 there after 'We Found Love' (10 weeks)
Rih also now ties with The Beatles for second-most total weeks of all time at number 1 with 59. *.*
I didn't think it would hold on to the #1 position! It's outside the iTunes top 10 now.

Another amazing remix
Possibly my favourite of them now, so many good ones though! When 1.38 hits...oh my LORD.
Almost one year on since it's release, what's everyone's opinions on arguably the most divisive single in Rihanna's discography?
Personally I loved it straight away and it still sounds as fresh as it did a year ago. A bit gutted it never managed to make number 1 here in the UK but it's success in the States was phenomenal! Probably one of her signature tunes already.
I remember being disappointed at first because as urban bangers go, BBHMM is her best. But when I kept hearing this out if became basically my favourite of 2016 very quickly.
It's within my top 5 songs from her: Man Down > Diamonds > BBHMM > What's My Name > Work
I do like Work but could never bring myself to love it, I do much prefer the Lost Kings remix for some reason.
After going off it for a long while this has reconnected with me recently I'd agree it's already one of her signature hits tbh!
Still not one of my favourites of hers but it's definitely up with Umbrella, We Found Love etc. as her biggest or signature hits I agree! I do like it and always get my life when it comes on out, I just don't tend to go back much.
Wrong choice for the lead single (should've been the second single imo) but I still really like it.
I love slurring along with it.
One year today that this was released!
