London leavers: 'Robbie Williams and I plan our artworks over the phone now I've swapped Acton for Shropshire'
When Ed Godrich, artist, interior designer, and serial entrepreneur, decided to move out of London he wanted it to be a really radical life change. And so he and his husband swapped an Art Deco warehouse apartment in Acton, west London, for an isolated five bedroom house buried in Shropshire’s beautiful Corvedale Valley. Ed, 49, was born and raised in Shropshire, but moved down to study at Camberwell Art School. London’s art scene in the 1990s was on fire, and Ed felt like he had found his place in the world. “I had come from rural Shropshire, so it was really exciting — it was the only place to be if you had just graduated and wanted to progress,” said Ed. His first job was with a design agency but in 2003 he teamed up with an old school friend Rupert Hunt to form Godrich Interiors, with Ed handling the creative side and Rupert the finances. The company quickly established itself as a force, designing luxury homes around the world. Clients included Robbie Williams who hired the team to design his house in Holland Park and became a close friend. Slowly, however, Ed became more and more interested in creating his own art, with Williams as his collaborator. “It was very, very organic the way it happened, but I gradually edged myself out of the interiors business,” he said “Interior design requires a lot of attention to detail and hand holding and reassurance, but I slowly went from five days per week to three days to two days.” Ed’s family are all still based in Shropshire and many of his old friends have returned to the area, and as he cut down on his London-based work he found himself spending more and more time there. “The more time I spent here the more I realised that there were tons of people doing really creative things,” he said. “I felt like I had found my tribe.” In 2020, just before the pandemic erupted, Ed, his husband Johnny Bergius, 63, a buying agent, and their two border terriers, Bev and Kev, left London and moved to a hilltop house in the country which they set about refurbishing. To give himself a space to work Ed, along with his business partner Rupert and Rupert’s wife Jude, bought a Victorian workhouse building in Ludlow. The building is the base for his company Williams Godrich, a collaboration with Robbie Williams; the pair have been creating art together for a decade now. They block in time to work together on their pieces, as well as working separately (but in constant phone contact) to create their canvases. For Ed the countryside is the perfect creative backdrop. “It is really special being able to open my windows in the morning and see green fields,” he said. “It is completely quiet, which I need for my work.” When not working Ed takes long walks with the dogs, and he and Johnny regularly visit the Welsh coast. After the local pub, The Tally Ho Inn in Bouldon, was threatened with closure, the couple stepped in to help save it. It is now their perfect local. “I worked really hard in London,” said Ed. “It was hardcore doing people’s houses for 20 years. Rob's exhibition on it's way to Barcelona ( Part Two ) ... hopefully it makes it way to London in the coming months . There is no given opening date yet for the London venue .

L'estrella del prop presents 18 unpublished works of art that aim to inspire people to transform fear into creativity, an exhibition that has already been seen in other European capitals, such as Amsterdam. Robbie Williams co-creates F1 trophy for Dutch Grand Prix
The organisers of the Dutch Grand Prix have revealed the trophies for the upcoming edition. The design of the trophies is based on the first motorsport race in the Netherlands. The trophies were designed by Robbie Williams and Marcel van Luit. Their production is in the hands of the Delft Group. The honour metal is characterised by the Dutch lion, which has been given a prominent place at the front of the trophy. The design is similar to that of the first and third years. Sporting director of the Dutch competition, Jan Lammers, is delighted with the design. "In year 1 and 3 of the Dutch Grand Prix returning to the calendar, we based the trophies on the old design of the first motorsport race in the Netherlands. In the mind of Robbie Williams Moco Museum
Artistic expression is a good way to find ways to connect with oneself in a society that often subjects us to various pressures and fears, which causes us emotions that are not always positive. Sometimes we even feel distant from who we are due to circumstances that we cannot control. The British singer Robbie Williams (1974) encourages us to look creatively at everything that distresses us, what threatens to make our mind collapse, through an exhibition at the Moco Museum in Barcelona. The exhibition is entitled Confessions Of A Crowded Mind, with pieces that combine humour with vulnerability. Williams proposes that we take an inner look to relativize the anxiety that arises from the saturation of thoughts and emotions. Her art does not aim to eliminate these negative experiences, since they are ultimately part of our lives, but rather to approach them in a more relaxed way. In the first part of the exhibition we find pieces that seduce with their explosion and combination of colors. At first glance, it is like landing in a naïve landscape, but when we fix our gaze on each work, we see a series of written messages that are as vivid and intense as the colors. For example, in Why? Because, f*** off (2023), the message Why? Because yes, let them pump you appear against a pleasant blue sky, a radiant, almost childish sun, and a series of volumes, as if they were rocks, well colored. In Love or hate me, I'm totally worthy of your energy (2023) we see again this contrast between positive and negative emotions in a background where the color palette stands out. These works could be a dialogue between our rational and emotional parts or simply a celebration and acceptance of our imperfection: we have intrusive thoughts, we make mistakes, we love and hate, but we are human and fallible. Leaving this first space of the exhibition, we read a sentence by Williams, in case the message had not been clear to us: "You are one of God's best people and you don't know it, that's why you are special." An example of his sense of humour can be found in the canvas Bi-polar Bear (2023), where a bear (polar, of course) appears with a confusion regarding his tastes: "I think I fancy him, I think I fancy her", we read. Other works in this space, all of them in black and white, show scenes and messages in a humorous key, some with Williams himself as the protagonist. Confessions Of A Crowded Mind is, therefore, a journey through a simple but vitalistic art. Who says art has to be complex?
