love the National, one of the best bands in the history of music
High Violet is one of the best albums ever, saw them live a couple years ago and loved them, singer was more crazy than expected
hopefully seeing them live at the Haven festival in Denmark

Yeah I think this album is going to be up there with their best, really enjoying it so far and can see me liking it a lot as I listen more.

I'd also love to see them live again, I saw them at Glastonbury and whilst they were brilliant, I thought it was a bit disappointing for two reasons, they did I think four songs from this album which hadn't been released so no one knew them, and only one song from each of Alligator and Boxer, and they had possibly the worst slot possible - I was probably about 10 people from the front and at least half of the people there didn't know/like them and just wanted to be at the front for Foo Fighters afterwards so they had the worst crowd atmosphere of everyone I saw.

So we're a week in and I'm really enjoying this album, it's the most immediate I've ever found any of their albums and there are so many good tracks on here. Definitely up there with their best work and they are ever so slowly developing into one of my favourite acts ever, so consistent wub.gif

National are quite dull live imo, seen them twice, which is a bit shame as their albums are mostly solid

I saw them at Latitude in 2016 and they were really good. Lauren Mayberry (CHVRCHES) came on to sing on “I Need My Girl”! biggrin.gif

^ wow, that's my fav National song from the last 2 albums

but I was pretty surprised when I saw them live, the way the singer performs was totally unrexpected, not sure why but I was expecting them to be quiet, and they were the opposite, the singer was more rock'n'roll than Foo Fighters and was jumping offstage and crowdsurfing, kinda bollocks...
