Rather than making a thread about a specific event, I felt a general thread for discussion about various news media items and reporting would be a useful tool for this forum (that I couldn’t already see), but feel free to rename or merge with a similar thread if appropriate.

So I’m starting this thread with the thoughts about the current news reporting for terror suspect Daniel Khalife who is on the run since escaping prison this week. Each day the news outlets are sending notifications to everyone’s phones of his whereabouts based on confirmed sightings and I’m thinking to myself isn’t that also going to his phone too so he’s effectively being given a heads up about his known whereabouts. So my question is should the news media be reporting where he is being seen or leave it to police to try and solve this without giving the suspect any hints about where they might be looking? Do the general public need to know every update about this report or is it scaremongering tactics again?

What’s your take on this one?
