QUOTE Today it was announced that the Czech Republic will hold a national final to select their representative for Lisbon. Six acts in total will compete. The winner will be determined by a mixture of an international jury and the public. Viewers will be able to vote for the favourtie via the official Eurovision app, according to Jan Frost Bors, the country’s new Head of Delegation. He continued to state: “This season we are going to put special focus on stage performance and look – we would like to prepare everything in Czech Republic and bring it to Portugal. We really appreciate growing interest amongst the Czech musicians and producers. It shows a positive attitude towards the biggest and most spectacular musical show in the world.” Only 36 songs came from Czech songwriters from the 400 entries submitted. The following artists are reportedly in the running: Mikolas Josef, Thom Artway, Annabelle Marketa Konvickova, Pavel Callta, Dasha, Elis Mraz, Yanna, Mariana Pracharova, Doctor Victor and Eddie Stoilow. Czech Republic held their last national final ten years ago. https://www.escxtra.com/2017/12/07/czech-re...t-entry-lisbon/ Mikolas Josef has confirmed he has entered his single 'Lie To Me' to the national selection, we'll have to see if he's chosen. It's full of lyrics-of-the-year contenders! |

Well I approve of HIM and I think I could get used to that song too. It sounds rather up to date and would quite easily be the best thing that they've sent so far.

I'd really like to see Czech Republic do well. It's about time. They haven't sent anything spectacular to date, but they must surely have it in them. I did really like "I Stand", though, and that did make the final at least.
Also, are they not moving to using the name Czechia rather than Czech Republic? I thought that was what their government had announced... it's all a bit confusing! |

Assuming Mikolas is amongst the finalists as is rumoured heavily, he would do excellently! Of course we don't know the competition, but Lie to Me is an easy qualifier and I could imagine that in top 10 contention along the lines of Donny Montell.
Don't waste this chance Czechs! |

All 6 competing entries have been revealed today
Debbi - High On Love Doctor Victor - Stand Up Eddie Stoilow - We Rule This World Eva Buresova - Fly Mikolas Josef - Lie To Me Pavel Callta - Never Forget Mikolas' 'Lie To Me' remains my top choice for the Czechs, it's something totally different from them and could do very well. Debbi's 'High On Love' isn't too bad either in a borderline qualifier sort of way. The winner will be announced on 29th January! |

Mikolas MUST be chosen, it's easily the best of this bunch. Wouldn't it be a dream if he pulled out a top 10 like Donny and this personal best result spiraled into Czech Republic doing a Bulgaria

Voted for 'Lie to Me' - the only song that could do well imo.

"Lie To Me" is pretty current and relevant isn't it. It's quite Jason Derulo or Justin Timberlake. Whether it would be well received at Eurovision is another matter.

I have faith that a jury like that will reward the best, most current song. Don't let me down now!!

I mean, it has to be Lie To Me but I do think we're kidding ourselves that this is better than it is It's like if one of those tribute versions that used to chart took on Talk Dirty, the drop is borderline annoyingly strained and sounds like it isn't tuned properly BUT it's good fun, very catchy and is the only song of the six that provokes any form of reaction. Do I think it's polished enough to 'do a Donny Montell' as you say? I don't think so.
Definitely a grower though, I'm sure you'll quote me on this when I'm stanning it come May because it's not like I've ever been one to pass on something for sounding "cheap" in the past. |

YAAASSS
This is my fave of the Eurovision season so far with Delirium, at least we'll get one of them through... I can definitely see this as the City Lights/Rhythm Inside/If Love Was A Crime (not that it's like those musically) sort of 4th place fan fave that's commercial enough to smash with wider audiences. "Plenty motherf***ers wanna eat my spaghetti" has been constantly rattling around my brain all week, this is an impossibly catchy song |
