The fourth song overall to be released from Madame X is 'Future', which features Quavo and is co-produced by Diplo.
It's been described as "Jamaican dancehall" and is rumoured to be performed at the Eurovision final on Saturday, the day after the song's release.
You can (barely) hear a snippet from the Eurovision rehearsals here: https://www.drownedmadonna.com/2019/05/15/audio-snippets-of-madonnas-future-feat-quavo/
Really can't make out much of the song but I'm intrigued nonetheless!
Feat Quavo? Srs???
Isn't he homophobic af?
I had thought the same when I first saw his name when the album tracking list was revealed. Looking online it seems like he and other members of Migos have said some questionable things but nothing actually intended to be homophobic. Their defence has been a bit "I'm not homophobic, I have gay friends!" but I guess not everyone has the understanding they should and so long as the intentions are honorable. I don't think Madonna would collaborate with them if they were.
The song sounds utter rubbish. Haven’t liked anything from this era yet and certainly not interested in buying the album.
Official artwork:
On New Music Friday but much lower down than the other songs were - #23.
This is my favourite from this era so far!!
I actually genuinely really like this.
I wish it had been the lead tbh.
EDIT: I think it reminds me of No Love Allowed by Rihanna
This was probably the promo track I was slightly cautious about hearing but I'm pleased to say I really like it! It's probably the best production Diplo has done on a Madonna track and it probably helps that it isn't the typical go-to Diplo sound. The chorus is really catchy and has a very classic Madonna hook style to it (think "dance and sing, get up and do your thing"; "music...makes the people...come together"; "time goes by...so slowly" etc.). I can see this being something she'll get the audience to chant back at some point, whether it's at Eurovision or on tour.
That 'Don't Tell Me' reference!
Does anyone else hear Ariana's 'bloodline'?
It reminds me of unapologetic bitch.
Very catchy , Loving this !!
The dont tell me line gives me hope it can return for a tour.
This is absolutely brilliant!!! Great song, best so far, really catchy, summer anthem, I think this should have been released first. Very crowd pleasing, very different and awesome A++++ !!!!! Madonna you are looking beautiful and I certainly would 😉👍🏼🍻
I can't get into this at all. It's my least fav of the 4 songs. I wish she was doing Crave or medellin tonight instead.
Hmmm, it doesn't really go anywhere. I could see it coming to life with the live performance though, we shall see.
'Future' seem the most appropriate if she's using Eurovision as a statement/protest piece, particularly with the context of where she's performing.
It would have been nice if 'Medellin' had more of a time in the spotlight though. Hopefully there's more big promo spots planned and perhaps 'Medellin' will get used again, as well as 'Crave'. Madonna seems to be keen to showcase the album as a whole rather than her traditional one-by-one single strategy, which works for me.
That's true. I know they haven't been streaming hits but they seem to be setting up the album nicely if it's positions on Apple Music are anything to go by, despite not being fully released yet.
There has been a sense of "the best is yet to come" among the forums. I've enjoyed all four songs released so far so I'm excited to see what else the album will have to offer. I think the shape of the album will become a lot clearer and we'll see the political stuff, the experimental stuff etc. Someone referred to P!nk's latest album I think in the Madame X thread in terms of the album showing more than what the pre-release songs may suggest.
This is easily the weakest song we've heard from the album so far and would rank so far low if compared to all of Rebel Heart too. Hmm. Skip.
I really don't like this one either - I'm really surprised that she went with this for Eurovision instead of Medellín as I think the latter could have been a real moment.
This is still by far my favourite from Madame X (off what we heard so far).
Maluma though seems to be the only collaboration so far who genuinely seems to be a fan of Madonna!
Quavo seemed like he didn’t even want to be at Eurovision, Maluma would’ve appreciated that a lot more.
