Following the 'Room 93' EP, Halsey is releasing her first album 'BADLANDS', reflecting her state of mind whilst writing the album, on 28th August. It features a new version of 'New Americana', 'Ghost' 'Hurricane' and 'Hold Me Down' which are all available as instant grats with 'New Americana' currently sitting at #91 on iTunes! The album has two different tracklists for the standard and deluxe editions. The pre-order for the deluxe version is #25 on iTunes and the standard is #733. Standard: 1. Castle 2. Hold Me Down 3. New Americana 4. Drive 5. Roman Holiday 6. Colors 7. Coming Down 8. Haunting 9. Control 10. Young God 11. Ghost Deluxe: 1. Castle 2. Hold Me Down 3. New Americana 4. Drive 5. Hurricane 6. Roman Holiday 7. Ghost 8. Colors 9. Colors, Pt. 2 10. Strange Love 11. Coming Down 12. Haunting 13. Gasoline 14. Control 15. Young God 16. I Walk the Line Very excited for this but I think I prefer the older version of 'New Americana' but that's probably because I'm more used to it. Anyway, LOVE that and 'Hurricane' from her so I'm interested in what the rest of the album will sound like. |

I'll be interested in this. 'New Americana' is fabulous and some of the other material is decent too. She is getting quite a big internet hiipe in some other places i've looked so hopefully this delivers!

Just listened to the deluxe and it was a fabulous first listen. It's an excellent debut with a lot of interesting production on there. I particularly love 'Castle' and the use of the choir in there. 'Colours' and 'Haunting' were two other initial non-single favourites!
It does get a bit samey towards last couple or so tracks but I'll definitely be coming back to the album a lot! |

The production on the album is lush 'Colours' is my personal favorite, it's very atmospheric and the chorus reminds me a lot of 'Style'

I got the deluxe too and I think there's a pretty good album hidden in there somewhere. I'll listen to it a few more times and cull a few tracks as it goes on a bit too long for me.
I like her stylings though, definite potential here. |

Colours is also my favourite but I don't think there's a song I don't adore on this, on my first listen I thought Roman Holiday was very generic and didn't have anything all that special to it but the more I hear it the more I love it. I got really excited when I saw there was a part ii to colours but then after I heard it I was a bit disappointed as it's basically just a remix of the main song, the outro to control is so stunning though

I will listen to this for the first time as soon as I get time, hopefully later today (currently listening to Worldvision). She's one of my favourite discoveries off plug <3 I'll probably listen to the EP first though.

There's nothing as amazing as New Americana but this is such a strong album, didn't expect to like it as much as I do

Nice production on some of these but the songs rarely went anywhere for me.

Yeah the production is 'nice', but for me it's yet another faceless pop singer drowned out by over the top synthetic sounds. Not terrible by any means but just not for me really, a bit like Lana Del Rey's new stuff just completely boring and not compelling me to listen again sadly.
