Apparently CBB also peaked at 2.5m in the last few moments!

Kim Woodburn, the saviour of CBB, who'd have thought? laugh.gif

I couldn't tell you anything that happened in this series before Kim entered the house; she definitely seems like she's saved the series.

I remember last year's winter series started off similarly. Obviously there was the issues surrounding Winston which was a talking point, but it was very negative and wasn't drawing in viewers. However, it was only like a week until things started heating up and was just event after event, whereas it's been two and a half weeks before this series got interesting.

Thursday 19th January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - N/A (Under 3.97m)
19:30 Eastenders - 6.42m (32.8%)
20:00 Spy in the Wild - 4.56m (22.3%)
21:00 Death in Paradise - 6.05m (28.4%)

ITV (inc. +1)
19:00 Emmerdale - 6.39m (34.0%)
19:30 President Trump: America's Greatest - N/A (Under 3.97m)
20:00 Emmerdale - 5.71m (28.0%)
20:30 The Cruise - 3.44m (16.8%)
21:00 Unforgotten - 3.73m (17.5%)

Channel 5 (inc. +1)
21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 2.11m (9.9%) [Exc. +1: 1.80m (8.4%)]

-x-

The 9pm ratings for tonight's programmes shall be interesting as there's an extra episode of Eastenders at 9pm. I'm predicting (inc. +1) 5.1m for Eastenders, 3m for Tina and Bobby and 1.5m for CBB.

Friday 20th January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - 3.87m (20.4%)
19:30 A Question of Sport - 3.43m (17.6%)
20:00 Eastenders - 5.78m (28.6%)
20:30 Room 101 - 3.12m (14.5%)
21:00 Eastenders - 4.51m (20.5%)
21:30 Not Going Out - 3.31m (15.6%)

ITV (inc. +1)
19:00 Emmerdale - 6.05m (32.0%)
19:30 Coronation Street - 6.60m (33.9%)
20:00 Best Walks with Julia Bradbury - 2.90m (14.3%)
20:30 Coronation Street - 6.29m (29.3%)
21:00 Tina & Bobby - 3.52m (16.4%)

Channel 5 (inc. +1)
21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 1.79m (8.4%) [Exc. +1: 1.60m (7.4%)]
22:00 Lip Sync Battle UK - 1.31m (17.3%) [Exc. +1: 1.19m (6.6%)]
22:30 Celebrity Big Brother - 1.61m (10.4%) [Exc. +1: 1.43m (9.2%)]

-x-

FYI, Trump's Inauguration rated 3.51m (26.3%) on BBC 1 and 1.32m (10.0%) on ITV (4.83m combined). Obama's Inauguration was only broadcast on BBC 1, where it rated 5.14m (33.2%) with over a 7m peak.

I know it had everything against it but I was expecting better for the 9pm Eastenders. 4.51m is close to what its lowest rating of the year gets, so to hit that mark already in January isn't too clever. Before Friday's episodes, the average for this month was 6.61m and it's now 6.38m. Hopefully we'll see some healthier ratings next week, although there's an Emmerdale clash on Tuesday.

Not an impressive bunch of figures really.

Saturday 21st January
BBC 1
18:10 Pointless - 4.81m (25.9%) [Peak: 5.66m (29.2%)]
19:00 Let It Shine - 5.27m (25.9%) [Peak: 5.74m (28.6%)]
20:25 Casualty - 4.68m (22.1%) [Peak: 5.08m (23.7%)]
21:15 Taboo - 3.47m (17.6%) [Peak: 3.94m (20.7%)]

ITV (inc. +1)
18:00 You've Been Framed - 2.43m (13.2%) [Peak: 2.84m (14.6%)]
19:00 Ninja Warrior UK - 3.35m (16.7%) [Peak: 3.88m (18.9%)]
20:00 The Voice UK - 5.38m (25.6%) [Peak: 6.20m (29.1%)]
21:30 Through the Keyhole - 3.17m (16.7%) [Peak: 3.48m (17.5%)]

Channel 5 (inc. +1)
22:30 Celebrity Big Brother - 1.20m (8.4%) [Exc. +1: 1.13m (7.8%)]

-x-

Let It Shine and The Voice UK seem to have levelled out now, falling just 40k and 100k respectively. Shame the same can't be said for Taboo, which falls 580k after falling 740k the previous week. It seems to be time-shifting well though and I suppose Saturday night is usually not where dramas are designated.

It's a shame about Taboo! Thankfully it's adding a lot on timeshift, but I was hoping the overnight figure would hold up better.

Sunday 22nd January
BBC 1
18:30 Countryfile - 6.93m (32.8%) [Peak: 7.75m (34.9%)]
19:30 Still Open All Hours - 6.08m (27.3%) [Peak: 6.82m (29.8%)]
20:00 Call the Midwife - 7.72m (31.9%) [Peak: 8.25m (33.8%)]
21:00 Apple Tree Yard - 5.36m (23.3%) [Peak: 6.06m (25.4%)]

ITV (inc. +1)
18:30 Dance Dance Dance - 3.53m (16.4%) [Peak: 4.49m (19.6%)]
20:00 Endeavour - 4.28m (18.1%) [Peak: 4.88m (20.4%)]

Channel 5 (inc. +1)
21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 2.00m (8.5%) [Exc. +1: 1.70m (7.4%)]

-x-

Also, the Snooker Final on BBC 2 rated 2.02m (8.9%)

Wow at Still Open All Hours! The 7:30pm slot seems a lot better for it than 8:30pm where it was getting mid-4m.

Call the Midwife had its lowest ratings for a series opener but I think that's still a very healthy figure (we're now on Series 6 so a steady decline is the best they can hope for).

I think Apple Tree Yard will have a sharp drop next week as it went from 6.06m viewers at 9pm and decreased throughout the hour to a low of 5.04m.

Previous Call the Midwife Series Openers:
Series 1 (2012): 7.95m (27.5%)
Series 2 (2013): 9.32m (32.3%)
Series 3 (2014): 9.61m (36.1%)
Series 4 (2015): 8.31m (32.8%)
Series 5 (2016): 7.98m (32.0%)
Series 6 (2017): 7.72m (31.9%)

2012 Christmas Special: 7.27m (28.3%)
2013 Christmas Special: 7.08m (30.1%)
2014 Christmas Special: 6.83m (27.9%)
2015 Christmas Special: 5.80m (24.5%)
2016 Christmas Special: 6.06m (26.7%)

21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 2.10m (9.4%) [Exc. +1: 1.76m (8.0%)]

Looking at the ITV exc. HD and +1 figures, it's estimated that the second Corrie was about 7.4m tape-checked.

Tuesday 24th January
BBC 1
19:00 The One Show - 3.99m (21.0%)
19:30 Eastenders - 5.70m (26.7%)
20:00 Holby City - 4.49m (21.8%)
21:00 Silent Witness - 5.79m (26.7%)

ITV (inc. +1)
19:00 Emmerdale - 6.11m (30.4%)
20:00 Martin Clunes: Islands of Australia - 3.11m (15.2%)
21:00 Sugar Free Farm - 2.49m (11.5%)

Channel 5 (inc. +1)
21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 2.00m (9.3%) [Exc. +1: 1.79m (8.3%)]

-x-

Fantastic figures for Eastenders when you consider it was a clash - it's usually around or under 4.5m. Emmerdale doesn't seem like it was affected by the clash (it usually isn't, but considering the extra viewers that chose to watch Eastenders, one may expect Emmerdale's figures to be down). I assume people may have watched Eastenders when it was broadcasted and watched the hour of Emmerdale on +1.

FYI, Emmerdale was watched by 6.37m (33.0%) for the first half and 5.86m (27.7%) for the second.

That's the highest full clash figure since October 2014, which is fantastic! It's a shame because it probably would've been easily above 7m last night, and hopefully should be on Thursday as well.

The 28-day data ratings for Christmas Week have been announced. This is the list of most watched programmes on Christmas Day, according to the 28-day data (inc. +1):

01. (01) [05] Call the Midwife 10.34m (+ 1.13m) [+ 4.28m]
02. (03) [01] Strictly Come Dancing 9.20m (+ 260k) [+ 2.03m]
03. (02) [03] Mrs Brown's Boys 9.16m (+ 180k) [+ 3.03m]
04. (04) [02] The Great Christmas Bake Off 8.35m (+ 140k) [+ 2.03m]
05. (05) [04] Coronation Street 8.23m (+ 110k) [+ 2.11m]
06. (06) [07] Doctor Who 8.22m (+ 390k) [+ 2.54m]
07. (07) [06] Eastenders 7.90m (+ 70k) [+ 2.00m]
08. (08) [08] Emmerdale 6.31m (+ 100k) [+ 1.58m]
09. (09) [09] Frozen 5.81m (+ 560k) [+ 1.16m]
10. (10) [12] Maigret 5.48m (+ 560k) [+ 2.29m]

The numbers in normal brackets are the positions according to 7-day data and the numbers in square brackets are the positions according to overnights.

I've also added the time-shifts - in normal brackets are the time-shifts from 7-day data to 28-day data and in square brackets are the time-shifts from the overnights to 28-day data.

-x-

Away from Christmas Day, the following had these increases from 7-day to 28-day (inc. +1):

We're Going on a Bear Hunt: 6.73m -> 7.64m
Last Tango in Halifax (Mon): 6.71m -> 7.30m
Last Tango in Halifax (Tue): 6.53m -> 7.21m
Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show: 6.44m -> 6.60m
Grantchester: 5.55m -> 6.11m
In Plain Sight: 5.45m -> 5.91m
The Lady in the Van: 4.39m -> 4.85m

Incredible once again for We're Going on a Bear Hunt when you consider it's Channel 4 - it's gone from an overnight of 3.02m and time-shifted 4.62m!

Also, BBC 4 got a huge rating for the channel - 1.13m (5.1%) for British History's Biggest Fibs with Lucy Worsley. The top programmes usually don't even get half of that.

Yay for Eastenders! Third highest rating of the year but the biggest share - also the highest Thursday rating since the 30th anniversary episodes in February 2015.

Ouch for Let It Shine! Looked like it was stable after last week's tiny drop, but that's another big fall for it. The Voice UK, on the other hand, is up week-on-week.
