Whilst Greg is doing Sounds Like Friday Night, Mistajam will be presenting the chart show

https://twitter.com/mistajam/status/920009702351736832

Of course SLFN is on for a 6 week trial but they're clearly anticipating that it might get a longer run, so maybe Mistajam is being considered for the gig permanently.

Is he any good? Am I imagining it or did he stand in a few months back?

I'd be disappointed to see Greg step down. He gets the tone just right. Clearly takes the thing seriously but not too seriously. He's just the best person for the job.

I think he stood in once, he seemed to get a good reception on here.

He's the best thing since Simon Bates & should present the show permanently. Greg James sounds like he's on Student radio & as chart host is pretty awful.

I missed the one where he was hosting laugh.gif The change will certainly be interesting, I hope he actually knows what he's doing.

He's really good from what I remember. Seems to rake an interest in the charts and definitely a lot more entertaining in terms of facts and stats than Greg.

So is anyone to be honest (@Hadji). I'm sure he'd have an even worse reputation than Reggie Yates did if he was the permanent host (and people on here really did get sick of Reggie).

Greg will apparently be going to Australia this winter to host BT Sport's Ashes cricket.

If Greg left I'd prefer to see Scott Mills take it on - he has always been the best stand-in, for many many years now.

I wouldn't mind a Mark Goodier return either but that is so not happening! Ah childhood nostalgia tongue.gif

Scott would have to give up his 1-4 slot for that though so it would never happen. Shame we never got Scott as a full time host but now is too late for that I feel.

Replacing Goodier in 2002 would have been the golden opportunity for Scott to be permanent chart host.

Scott would have been the ideal replacement back in 2002. However Radio 1 wanted to take the presentation style of the chart in a new direction and Scott would probably have been too much of a straightforward replacement to Mark.

On reflection they really made the wrong decision.

Indeed. I know listening figures were falling and the Top 40 countdown on commercial radio had twice the audience but under Wes things got worse.

Scott had the chance to be breakfast show host around that time so probably wanted a drivetime show which has more viewers etc!

I'm not sure any radio show has more viewers than any other biggrin.gif

I think that was more to do with the change in format than Wes. That, and the chart itself becoming less relevant due to the change in the singles market.

I agree. I don't think Wes was keen on the format either. He came in for much criticism at the time but he was only presenting the show the way he was told to do so. I remember his last top 40 show where he gave a little speech about his time presenting the chart show and I can remember feeling a bit sorry for him because he genuinely did sound a bit upset about how things had worked out.
