Kick off the 2016 season chat with some champion news, Renault have confirmed that they will be purchasing Lotus!!! That means F1 will once again have a French team and I can go back to supporting Enstone after a year away although the driver line-up we've inherited leaves much to be desired.
I was sort of hoping Renault would let Lotus go bankrupt, buy the bits and the people on the cheap and then use that as a way to shred Maldonado's contract because oh my god is he useless. There is absolutely 0 chance he has a drive with Renault in 2017. His sponsor is an oil firm and we have no need for that when our main partner is Total. (Nor the money. Renault S.A. has plenty of that) |

Strong possibility that ITV could take over the free-to-air rights from the BBC:

The BBC have ended their F1 coverage which means that Channel 4 has become the new home of terrestrial coverage of F1 from next year. It will be interesting how they do with their coverage. Wasn't expecting that. What do you think of the news? http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/ch...ede906f68a35e34 |

Yeah doesn't make too much difference for those with Sky Sports F1 but one thing I will miss will be David Coulthard

The good news is that C4 have committed to showing the races uninterrupted.
Also Lotus F1 is officially no more. On Friday the keys were handed over officially and formally to Renault and the creditors have all been paid today. Thus HMRC can no longer wind up the Enstone team over unpaid PAYE/NI. Renaults Press Release: QUOTE Groupe Renault completes the acquisition of Lotus F1 Team Can I just take a sec to be a little smug that I predicted this waaaaaaay back in 2009 when they first sold 75% of the team:December 21, 2015 | ID: 74534 On Friday 18 December 2015, Groupe Renault and Gravity Motorsport S.a.rl, an affiliate of Genii Capital SA, formally and successfully completed the acquisition by Groupe Renault of a controlling shareholding of Lotus F1 Team Limited. The new team name, full management structure, team partners and other details will be announced during an event to be held in Paris in February. In the interim, a new board of directors has been appointed, with Jιrτme Stoll as Chairman and Cyril Abiteboul as Managing Director. Following the signing of a letter of intent by Groupe Renault and Gravity Motorsport S.a.rl on 28 September 2015, the parties entered into the various agreements on 3 December 2015. Since then, all parties involved have been working relentlessly to comply with all of the contractual and legal obligations under the agreements to enable the transaction to successfully complete. The technical teams are making good progress to have the 2016 car ready for testing in Barcelona at the end of February. It's been reported on the BBC that we're staying Supposedly only as a 25% owner of the team. That'll do for me the now. Hopefully Prodrive have the 75% [although i would prefer it to stay 100% Renault] and when our results start to improve again and the team shakes of it's nasty Crashgate image [which i just read on the BBC was actually Piquet's idea. The scheming little Brazilian c**t. Renault should sue him [an the other 2] to bankruptcy and beyond for what the three of them have done to our brand image] once everyone stops remembering us just for 'fixing' a GP and remembers us as an amazing team again, Renault can buy the 75% back again, and it'll be happy days for me. As long as the brand name ain't disappearing an the car is still Yellow, i'll be watching. |

It will be intriguing to see how Renault do next season.
Glad that C4 will be showing the live races uninterrupted. I wonder who they'll get to present the coverage. |

Not very well i'd imagine. Lotus haven't really invested in the car the past like year. It all depends on how we progress on the Engine over winter and if Maldonado gets fired or not.

Possibility that "Crashtor" Maldonado might lose this Renault seat because of a late payment from his sponsors. Could see Kevin Magnussen replacing him.

I almost peed myself with excitement when I read that earlier!!! I would love to see Magnussen at Renault, if we could get him then I could see a WC coming our way around 2018/9/20.

Could be inevitable that they'll be no more Pastor "Crashtor" Maldonado in F1 following an disagreement between Renault and PDVSA which will mean Kevin Magnussen will take over his drive. Could be confirmed very soon.

I would be so very happy if this were to happen. I hate that talentless arse Crashtor. He's far too talentless to drive for a manufacturer team....or a backmarker.
Apparently PDVSA owe Lotus now Renault 35m Euro and Renault didn't want lotus to resign him so the fact that they haven't paid, despite Renault going to Venezula to meet them, is perfect for them. |

Still no news for non-Sky viewers on who the presenter for Channel 4 will be there have rumours suggesting that it could be Steve Jones. We only know that David Coulthard will be one of the presenters and probably part of the commentary team. Who would you want as Channel 4's F1 presenting team?

Suzi Perry and possibly Eddie Jordan will not be part of Channel 4's presenting team.
