The nations will be revealed in alphabetical order with their chosen entry, and also revealing their selected entry for the opposite decade. Scandalous!

Yeah basically the same for me but the other way round - my 00s choice isn't what I'd call 'cheap' necessarily but it's a pretty famous dubstep track (and a UK top 100 hit) and I generally try to send songs that are completely obscure to the main contest. Whereas my 90s choice I don't think many people would recognise at all (it's an album track, from an album which apparently was quite well-received critically but it wasn't exactly a commercial success) so it could easily be a main contest entry for me.

My 90's choice is actually a top 20 hit
'00 never charted anywhere lol.
And thinking about it now, the only way I could get away with my 90's choice is in BJSC 110 which it will be by 100th entry
which it is giving me an idea of what to send when that time comes.

Oh I like that we get to find out what everyone's other choice was. Spirit of music discovery and I would guess because they're not competing they'll get forgotten fairly quickly if they were main contest ready.

I remember hearing a few songs by Air being played in the arena before the concert when me and Jade went to see The xx, idk if this was one of them but they have a great vibe to them! Autechre would have been an awesome choice as well, I've been tempted to send them to BJSC in the past ;o
Safri Duo is the first of these songs that I have definitely heard (and that's not even in the contest), the running theme still seems to be 'less famous songs by artists who had big hits'

Both of those FLJ choices are absolute classics as well (and the right one got in)!! Kinda surprised The KLF wasn't vetoed actually but I suppose it isn't QUITE as well known as the songs that were thrown out.

Friends Forever clearly won’t do well at all looking at the competition and the dance-heavy line-up so far but after nearly 20 years I still listen to the track near weekly and count it amongst my all-time top 100 <3
Some VERY well known tracks here but I look forward to making some discoveries too as lots I don’t know!

Tbh I'm not surprised at there being a fair few well-known songs here, the 90s and 00s dance anthem spinoffs were like this too (actually they were a lot 'worse' than this has been so far) - still plenty of good discoveries to be made anyway hopefully, and I shall have to check out a few of the ones that have missed out as well.

Like I said it's well-known within its niche if maybe not among the mainstream so I'm not surprised at Jeff and Dobbo already knowing it for example! Common People is one of the defining songs of the 90s, and the whole Britpop era. It had a massive cultural impact on release. I certainly don’t agre that it’s a forgettable 90s hit by any means!
