Hello euroqueens,
I know it's been a rough day with the awful news about 2020 but all is not lost! Given we're all probably going to be spending an inordinate amount of time in our homes over the next few months, I'm wondering what sort of appetite there might be for some sort of Eurovision re-watch? We could co-ordinate the thing via some form of shared streaming device (if Rabb.it is still a thing then that might be the best one but we can discuss our options) and/or leave the links up for people who can't make the group viewing. I know there's a version running on euro fan twitter but we needn't necessarily be bound by which ever one they chose or even a sense of basic chronology. Knowing our age demographic I'm expecting that we're going to gravitate towards the more recent contests but we've got the choice of basically anything that we can find the footage for on YouTube which actually goes quite far back so more or less the whole of the later part of the 20th century onwards is our oyster PLUS pre-2004 there isn't the issue of semi finals for us to consider as well so we could literally do those in one go. As far as the older years go I will put in vouches for the following years - 1990 (maybe not a popular choice and as it's the first post Berlin Wall contest there's a lot of songs on the same theme but you'd be surprised at the depth of quality in that field) - 1991 (in order to appreciate how good a standard of production value we actually have now) - 1993 (high quality plus the novelty of being performed in a racecourse in County Cork) - 1995 (peak "new age" style songwriting) - 1996 (see 1995 but with slightly more fast/boppy songs) - 1998 (high quality and the most recent UK hosting) - 1999 (for the bops) - 2000 (for an early example of Sweden hosting and the new milennium) - 2003 (incredible song quality and super dramatic voting) Let us know what y'all think. Your euroqueen in mourning, LexC |

I have 2016 on DVD it was such a quality year (with the exception of the terrible winner of course)
I'm down for this! I don't know many of the older contests so keen to experience those. |

Of course I'm always up for a re-watch of a year that I'm already familiar with, but I'm very excited by the idea of potentially watching a year that I've not seen in full before (basically anything pre-2007 for me)!
It would be fun to watch contests from the 90s and pick out which songs I recognise from escradio or just for generally being 'classics' |

While I have my preferences I will definitely watch no matter what we choose! I'm in desperate need for some Eurovision in my life right now.

I'd SO be up for 1999 and 2003. Some of the best years in Eurovision in terms of how many BOPS they served! UK flopping in both of these is just cheery on top.

I think whichever contest we watch we should do an impromptu Buzzjack vote as well after we watch. Where every member who's watching gives out 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 pts.

We'll probably be running them in Kast (which is basically the successor to Rabb.it) and the free version is basically Rabb.it without the webcam and mic link up but tbh we'll be fine without that so if people want to sign up to Kast ahead of any Watch Parties then y'all can follow the link

If we do do older contests, 1995 sounds very much my sort of thing. I've never actually watched anything pre-2010 in full though and very easy on whatever.

Why the hell would you want to watch something so recent. Meh.

I think 2016 would be a good one to have as a kind of test run to check that the whole thing definitely works - I think we'll have ample opportunity to check out the older years for the next few weeks and months.
How would this Sunday work for people? |
