Sol Campbell has been named boss of League One strugglers Southend United on a contract until 2022.

Campbell's former Portsmouth team-mate Hermann Hreidarsson and ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole will form part of his coaching team at Roots Hall.

Southend have one league win this term and have been without a full-time boss since Kevin Bond left on 6 September.

Sol Campbell did a decent job at Macclesfield, so he could prove to be a good appointment for Southend. My grandfather was a supporter.

He'll have a job as Southend lost 7-1 to Doncaster Rovers. Southend did go down to nine men.

Wally Downes has been sacked as AFC Wimbledon boss over breaching betting rules.

Firstly, banned for four weeks.

Following that, parted company with the club: -

Glyn Hodges has taken over as permanent manager after being caretaker during the suspension of his former boss.

One thing that surprises me about this story is that he has been guilty of a similar offence before when he was with QPR. I thought the penalty would have been harsher based on that.

Bolton have been given a five-point deduction, suspended for 18 months, for failing to fulfil fixtures against Brentford last season and Doncaster this term.

Wanderers were due to play the Bees on 27 April but players refused to play the fixture over unpaid wages.

The club postponed their game against Doncaster on 20 August over welfare concerns for youth players.

A 12-point deduction was already given for entering administration in May.

This punishment is suspended for 18 months and Bolton are on positive points. It would have been very harsh if this had been given immediately given all the hard work that has been put in by the team on the pitch under the guidance of Keith Hill and his coaching team.

They were also fined £20,000 for the Brentford fixture and £50,000 for the Doncaster fixture. Half of both of these are also suspended for 18 months.

Managerial change that has occurred in League One here.

Graham Coughlan has left Bristol Rovers and has since joined League Two side Mansfield.

Ben Garner has replaced him.
