I've never liked this album as much as others do. I know it's generally regarded as one of her best works but I've always found it a bit too long for my liking and I end up getting a bit bored before it's over.
My top three would have to be:
1 Frozen (in her top five songs ever for me )
2 Ray of Light
3 Drowned World/Substitute for Love
I very rarely revisit much of this aside from Frozen though
01. Frozen
02. Ray of Light
03. Drowned World/Substitute for Love
Same top 3 as Josh 'Frozen' is my favourite ever Madonna song *.* her eerie vocals mixed with the ambient William Orbit production is a recipe for perfection.
1. Drowned World
2. Ray of light
3. Mer Girl
No votes for Power of Goodbye!
I wish I'd chosen it now, it was so close!
The Power Of Goodbye/Frozen/Ray Of Light
The former is third only to Hung Up and Like A Prayer in my overall Madonna affections, gorgeous track.
Sky Fits Heaven, Drowned World/Substitute for Love and Nothing Really Matters would be 4th, 5th and 6th, great album.
1. Ray of Light
2. The Power of Goodbye
3. Frozen
Frozen My fave Madge song!!
Ray Of Light
The Power Of Goodbye
I am pretty sure this is my favourite Madonna album
It was a stunning return to the big league, building on the gains made from Something to Remember and Evita. We had so much new music from her in the 1990s.
1. Frozen
2. Nothing Really Matters
3. The Power of Goodbye
Drowned World, Ray of Light were also both excellent singles. Fantastic imagery throughout the campaign and the album is brilliant throughout. I have all the instrumentals of each track and they make a gorgeous listen.
1. Ray of light
2. Drowned world (my substitute for love)
3. Nothing really matters
Adore every single off this album and love Mer Girl, Swim, Skin Ashanti... it's a fab album
'Ray of Light' is a definite vote. 'Skin' too as that's one I remember being in awe of even as a kid and the experience has stuck to this day. The third vote is pretty tricky - I'm thinking 'Nothing Really Matters' as that's really stood out as a favourite this past year or so, but any of 'Drowned World', 'Sky Fits Heaven', 'Frozen' or 'The Power of Goodbye' could easily take third any other day.
Frozen
The Power of Goodbye
Sky Fits Heaven
Wish I could’ve fit Ray of Light in
Wait..
I refuse to vote for only THREE. Let me have 4 please.
Can't decide 3 between:
Nothing Really Matters
Sky Fits Heaven
Frozen
The Power of Goodbye
THIS IS TORTURE HELP
I've gone for:
Sky Fits Heaven
Frozen
The Power of Goodbye
after MUCH deliberation Hardest one to date and a massive shoutout to Nothing Really Matters, Skin and Ray of Light!
Voted just for Frozen as it is the only one I know oops.... It is a fantastic song and I really like the ambient trip hop production and Madonna's vocal in it! One of the best pop songs of the 90s imo.
Power Of Goodbye, Sky Fits Heaven, Nothing Really Matters
I don't have all her albums, but bought several a couple of months ago.
I only really know the earlier albums inside out, but I gave this one three listens today !
I vote for :
Sky Fits Heaven - shoulda been a single!
Little Star - I can't believe I'm it's only voter !?
The Power of Goodbye - a toss up between this and Frozen, coulda gone either way.
The Power of Goodbye
Sky Fits Heaven
Shanti/Ashtangi
Skin
Sky Fits Heaven
Frozen
Skin
Ray of Light
The Power of Good-Bye
All 10/10 amazing which, of course, a large swathe of the album is. Skin has the most delightful production, all the flourishes and little touches deserve to be listened to in super high quality.
