How early did you join the streaming revolution? Did you have to get an invite code to use Spotify, as was the case for a few years, or were you one of the first ever users almost a decade ago? Do you remember the first song you streamed and when?

I randomly found an old Facebook status recently which reveals it for me - first song I streamed was Snow Patrol - Run, on April 11th 2010! Presumably many of this forum were much earlier to the party than me though tongue.gif

I remember the first song I downloaded (Snow Patrol - Set the Fire to the Third Bar) but not the first I streamed. It could very well have been Drake - One Dance sick2.gif as it wasn't on Youtube.

I've got absolutely no idea, I first started using Spotify in like 2012 albeit sparingly. The first song I downloaded was Avril's Heres To Never Growing Up kink.gif

Yeah I remember using Spotify back in its infancy & really hating it at the time! Probably around 2009/10 I think it was but have absolutely no idea what song it would have been.

I remember getting it in ~September 2011 as I couldn't afford to buy the downloads of Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts and Emeli Sandé's Heaven at that point (oh the problems of being a 14 year old living on pocket money kink.gif), and I wanted to enjoy those tracks so downloaded it! I assume it's one of those two that was my first stream.

Probably Ellie Goulding's 'Burn'.

I stuck with downloads up until late 2015. I now just download songs if I want the song to do well (so normally just Tove Lo and Ellie Goulding).

I have no clue what the first song I streamed was, or oven the first one I downloaded - however, I remember the first song I bought like it was yesterday!

I was using Spotify back when Roberta butted in with some ads every four songs back in 2008/9(?), so I must have had an invitation to join it. I have absolutely no idea what the first song I streamed on it was, however, I just remember thinking it was a bit tedious at the time and a fad...how wrong I was.

I believe it was "Sparky's Dream" by Teenage Fanclub back in 2009, just as it was starting out. Although I didn't seriously start using Spotify until 2016, when I got a subscription.

First song I ever bought was I'm Not Alone by Calvin Harris, and that's because I grew up in the piracy era. Me and my brothers and sisters used to use Kazaa and Limewire to get our hands on illegal MP3s all the time. Kept using those until the end of the 2000s. First streamed song I'm not sure, as my family used Spotify all the time before it was cool. I think "Here We Go" by Stakka Bo was the first one I clicked on on my own.

The first song I legally downloaded was the (now long lost, because the single release was cancelled) True North remix of Delta's Throw It Away in 2004. I bought it on a site called My Coke Music, or somesuch laugh.gif Think the first time I downloaded a song full stop was some Kelly Llorenna track in 2002! Started using iTunes to download music in 2005 I believe, I certainly recall downloading Love On My Mind by Freemasons as one of my earliest purchases on there.

I started experimenting with Spotify in summer 2012 and fully 'made the switch' (got premium) in September of that year.

I don't remember the first song I ever streamed, but I started scrobbling to last.fm when I got premium, and the first song I scrobbled was... The Alias remix of 'Under The Sun' by Cheryl.

I remember I had an invite code, it must have been around 2009/2010 I guess but I have no idea what the first song I streamed was. I wonder if Spotify holds that information somewhere?

Before that I used to use Winmx, Limewire and Kazoo(?) to download MP3s. I still remember that euphoric feeling of finding an obscure song on there that you've been wanting for ages but couldn't find anywhere (though I remember that with CD singles too) laugh.gif

In terms of Spotify, I got that when the chart change came and it was Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong I think!

I think the first song I streamed on Spotify was "Bubble Butt" by Major Lazer ft Bruno Mars lmao. It's the first one I can remember streaming in the very least. Spotify wasn't available in Iceland until summer of 2013 IIRC.
