The Oscar FYC's are starting to go up! These are basically the films that are being sent out to Academy members as screeners and provides insight into what films & performances are being considered for the Oscars.
So here's some of the official categories that the studios will be campaigning in and we should be able to see who will swap acting categories over the next few weeks!! And also see if any studios don't campaign for a film that was at least expected to have some contention! (I've separated this from the Oscars 2018 thread so this can be found easily/updated easily and feel free to discuss the campaigns!) Links to the studio's FYC pages are on the title of each post Also each studio will add more films as time goes on so this isn't the be all and end all for each studio yet! |

Ooooh, it's almost that time of year
I was looking at the Focus website yesterday and was shocked to see Darkest Hour go Original Screenplay again, that category is going to be REALLY competitive! Apparently Kristin Scott Thomas has nothing to do either so maybe Lily James could be in with a chance?! |

I saw The Beguiled FYC on the Focus page the other day and was shocked they're pushing Kidman in lead. I would've said she's probably the best chance the film has a nomination but only in supporting, she's never going to make it in lead with all the tough competition. They probably have priorities elsewhere though so I imagine The Beguiled is going to end up nomination-less
Shocked at how much the Get Out hype has been maintained so surely it's going to be a big hit at awards season. I hope it can get an acting nomination too! Best bet is probably Catherine Keener in my opinion considering her past nominations and how weak the competition is for supporting actress this year so far. |
