Was watching the first half on you tube but the wife came home so have to watch a Saturday night movie now. Did De Bruyne get injured? Rudgier took him out, did a Ramos on Salah in 2018! - he was pretty average/ineffective today though. City have looked better in shape since he went off. |

I don't like Chelsea but I'm pleased to see City miss out on winning the Champions League once again.

Man City favourites again? beginning to feel like the boy who cried wolf here. I think the bookmakers and the media need to let go of the idea of them winning the Champions League now. It really is the boy who cried wolf! Every year we hear how Manchester City are going to win the Champions League and they never do. Always the favourites, never the champions. The Manchester City way! |

Chelsea winning was the lesser of the two evils, City were absolutely bang average throughout, I can't believe Guardiola decided to over think YET AGAIN and completely hand the game to Chelsea. The first half was so frantic and a great watch, but the second half was turgid. I can't remember the last time the final was actually decent!

The less of two evils prevailing there indeed, first half was thrilling, I found the second half dull.

Thank all the f***s in the world for that.
If I was a citizen of the UAE having to pay VAT for the first time ever I’d be pure raging at their gov cost cutting everything Bar the sportwashing. Amazing. Billions of pounds in buying a team. Billions in trying to make the east end of Manchester look less feral. f*** knows how much in „facilitation“ payments to UEFA and officials. And still they can’t get their mits on the trophy. This was too close a call for comfort especially seeing as they were supposed to be banned from this years Comp ffs. |

Great performance of ‘Lose Your Head’ by London Grammar to end the show now.
I know a lot of United fans loving City missing out but not a fan of Chelsea either! |

Also great to see Scott Carson being the only player in the City squad to boast a champions league winners medal

Honestly I’d rather see both teams shot into the sun than have either of them win, but if one must be the winner of the oil cup I’d far rather the Russian than the Emirate.

Great performance of ‘Lose Your Head’ by London Grammar to end the show now. I know a lot of United fans loving City missing out but not a fan of Chelsea either! Both are horrible teams and have bought their success. At least Chelsea have already won the Champions League so it's not too bad, plus Kante is the most likeable player from both teams so I'm pleased for him. Plus, it's just funny to see Pep fail yet again. This was their best chance to win, the stars literally aligned for them and they still couldn't do it. |

I just hate Tuchel, can see them winning the league next year as when they are 1-0 up they defend like Jose circa 2005

Never change City!
What Tuchel has done at Chelsea though, unbelievable. Let's see if he can now last longer than Di Matteo lol. |

UEFA are scrapping the away goals rule in all of their European club competitions from next season. I think it's probably the fair decision to make, especially now that fans are either not in the home stadiums at all or not there at full capacity. It did add to the drama of knockout matches though and provided some massive moments. Andreas Iniesta's last minute goal against Chelsea in the 2009 semi final and the wild celebrations that came after stick in my mind. There was also the comeback for Man United in Paris against PSG and Lucas Moura scoring against Ajax with the last kick of the game.

Anything that makes penalty shoot-outs more likely is a backwards step.

I'm on the fence a little bit with scrapping away goals. I actually really enjoyed it and it always gave the away team an emphasis to attack. Now you will see teams just keep it tight in the away leg, knowing that you beat them or draw with them at home then you'll go through. I'd have been more in favour of keeping away goals, but stopping them counting after extra-time. I've always found that highly unfair, as the away team has a massive advantage in these cases.

I enjoyed the away goals rule as well and it will feel strange to see it not being used after being in place for many decades but for scenarios where both the 1st and 2nd leg are draws it's fair that a team doesn't get eliminated because they scored less away goals than their opponents. They might as well scrap extra time if they're scrapping away goals as it's very unlikely that teams will try to go for more goals and instead they will play for a penalty shoot out.
