I just either want them to push Wasabi or give us something new. Although we had Bounce Back it feels like it's been ages since we had something from them lmao.

How exactly did this flop so bad?
They had a string of massive hits from Salute (single) to Woman Like Me and then Think About Us was hindered by the label change but Bounce Back was a fresh track and it had everything behind it to be a big hit. It was their first release under the new label, it had tons of Spotify support, A-List on Radio 1, TV performances, so much web content, a great video and it scraped a top ten position and was out of the charts the next month. Was it just the quality of the song? I thought maybe it was the start of their natural popularity decline but Break Up Song has came out a year later and is already shaping up to be a much bigger hit without half the support Bounce Back did. It's just so weird that everything they touched was a hit for years, then Bounce Back randomly did terrible and then Break Up Song was a hit again. |

Yeah it was shit and it's a shame it wasted their last single to have massive off the bat support. This went straight to A list and spent like 7 weeks on there. Break Up Song is going into its 5th week and is still B list!

Nah, this is down there with How Ya Doin. It is awful. I tried to warm to it but it never happened...

It was dated the moment it was recorded Sadly tea. They tried to make it a throwback hit without giving it any kind of unique flare. Some of their other songs are effortlessly throwback without even trying as hard. This post has been edited by 365: 24th April 2020, 01:30 PM |

Bounce Back is much better than Woman Like Me but it’s definitely quite dated.

I still love Bounce Back but that’s as someone not familiar with the original song. So for me, it was something totally new.

My stance on BB is pretty much the same it's always been. A catchy and decent enough track until the cheap-ass sounding middle 8 kicks in and destroys any goodwill I have towards it. It's a shame, because I do think there's some flashes of brilliance; Jesy's opening verse in particular is brilliant and I really like the 'say, who gonna send my way' pre-chorus. My main issue is that it was stupidly redundant and just a colossal misfire for such a crucial juncture in their career. I don't doubt that if they hadn't released it (and One I've Been Missing, but no one remembers that anyway ), BUS probably would've got a lot more instant support off the bat. The way they forced BB down the public's throats was relentless.

It isn't actually Normani, but interesting nonetheless. The lyric revision in LM's version are definitely for the best. Screaming at the instrumental section being even more wretched than the finished product though. Just WHY? |

I actually think Bounce Back's sound was pretty relevant at the time. Bounce music could be heard on US radio through songs like Drake's Nice For What.
I think where they fell slightly short was with the visuals (hear me out!) - music video was STUNNING and they SERVED multiple looks until the breakdown comes in. That awkward choreography felt like some weird confusing middle ground and an attempt to try and keep things PG for their younger fans. They had that CRINGEY Voice Australia performance with the cheap wire fence stage setup and dated graffitti wall... They've tried to correct this in future performances on tour. Bounce is inherently twerk music and minus Leigh's 2 second shot in the video - they didn't really capture this vibe at all. It always made sense to me that Normani was linked to this track. Now imagine her performing this song. In short: decent song, stunning video, not enough choreo in the video, not the right choreo for the track. |

They really went all in with this single. They were everywhere and promoted the life out of it. It just didn't click. The fact it's sales are so low 3 years down the line...
^ I kinda wish Jesy had left after this single. Just to have confetti be a full trio campaign. This post has been edited by Muzkik85: 24th September 2022, 12:49 AM |
