Headlines at #17 though I wouldn't rank it as my #1 like the preference Revealer said but honestly I do really appreciate it.

That problematic-flag teacup was a bit much to be honest. Clearly she was so excited to be part of Holler that she got carried away!! HOLLER BETTER BE TOP 3!! I know it wont be cos the taste in this forum is beyond appauling sometimes but like, IT f***ING BETTER!! |

06 - 371pts - Emma Bunton - What Took You So Long? (from 'A Girl Like Me')
07 - 326pts - Spice Girls - Let Love Lead the Way (from 'Forever') 08 - 324pts - Geri Halliwell - Look at Me (from 'Schizophonic') 09 - 317pts - Emma Bunton - Free Me (from 'Free Me') 10 - 302pts - Melanie C - Who I Am (from 'Melanie C') 11 - 296pts - Mel B - I Want You Back [feat. Missy Elliott] (from 'Hot') 12 - 289pts - Melanie C - Think About It (from 'The Sea') 13 - 282pts - Geri Halliwell - It's Raining Men (from 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster') 14 - 279pts - Emma Bunton - I'll Be There (from 'Free Me') 15 - 274pts - Melanie C - Anymore (from 'Version of Me') We definitely seem to think that Melanie C has improved with her lead single choices in recent years! 'Anymore' and 'Think About It' appear in this section, but most notably 'Who I Am' ends up in 10th place and Melanie's highest song in these results! Do you agree that it's her best lead single to date? Quite impressive, over 20 years into her solo career! Emma Bunton's 'Free Me' album has two singles in the results - its very first single 'Free Me' which impressively places 9th, as well as 'I'll Be There' which was the single that was released just two weeks before the album. Also from Emma in this section is 'What Took You So Long?' in 6th - the highest placed solo song in the results! So we seem to mostly agree that it was a perfect launch single for the 'A Girl Like Me' album. In my opinion 'Look at Me' was the perfect way to launch Geri Halliwell's solo career, a #2 hit in the UK 22 years ago this month! 'It's Raining Men' also manages 13th - I'm actually quite surprised it's this high as it's a song that definitely has its haters, but personally I think she did a great job with it and it's still very memorable after 20 years. Whether or not it was wise to release her second album directly after a cover version is debatable though. Mel B was the first out of the starting blocks to release a solo single - 'I Want You Back' was released just 2 years & 2 months after the Spice Girls' debut single Wannabe. It took almost as long for Mel to get to the stage of releasing her debut album 'Hot' - 2 years & 1 month after 'I Want You Back'. Nevertheless it made sense for the album to include this #1 hit. Finally, I'm pleased to see 'Let Love Lead the Way' this high. It's a gorgeous song. I do believe they would have been fine to release 'Holler' by itself and still get a UK #1, but I'm glad they went with a Double A Side considering how short lived the 'Forever' era ended up being. ------ The Top 5 will be unveiled soon! |

OOohhhhh nice results!
Impressed that Free Me and Let Love Lead The Way got so high. Both songs have absolutely stood the test of time and now sound even better than then, in my opinion. Time has been kind to both, so clearly both were great choices, even if at the time LLLTW felt a bit 'added on' to the Holler single.. Free Me in particular is so gorgeous and classy. It sounded even better live at the Albert Hall. Same with I'll Be There, just gorgeous music! I Want You Back is such a perfect single! It really deserved much better than it got. I still dont care much for Look At Me or Its Raining Men to be honest... Who I Am is Melanie's best song in decades, so it makes sense and finally she released a great first single. Never really understood how she always gets the singles of albums so wrong, but finally that seems to change a bit recently... |

For me Think about it is Melanie's best first single release, although Going down was certainly a statement.
