None of their songs have been good though. They are completely manufactured and don't have any proper talent. They are Simon Cowell's pop puppets. Let's ignore the fact that I'm a huge fan for a second and focus on that middle statement - it's quite a short-sighted thing to say, they evidently do have talent lol, particularly as they are more involved in songwriting these days. Not gonna yap on because I don't want to sound too defensive, and of course you're entitled to dislike them, but they are clearly talented and I think your opinion is clouding your judgement here. Anyway, it's good to see them still top 10 for now, I can see them holding up for the week around that position now, fingers crossed anyway! Fairly sure it will get a boost from the video in a couple of weeks, I know Story of My Life and Steal My Girl both had huge video boosts. |

So the alleged biggest boy band in the world have dropped 1-9 in their 2nd week? That's the best news I've heard in ages. Leaving aside the whole "grown man genuinely has nothing to make him more happy in life than the failures of famous people" thing, I'd like to focus on the use of the word 'alleged' here. One would assume that your post is implying that you think One Direction are actually not the most successful boyband in the world, as evidenced by the catastrophic failure of their current single. But what boyband would you say is more successful? I assume you can think of one - you'd hardly use a word with the implications of 'alleged' here just because a bunch of attractive young men leave you feeling inadequate, would you? |

omg @ 1d collapsing 1-9- ~ they could well be out of the top ten altogether by Friday
unfortunately it will probably stabilize next week tho once the airplay kicks in, like that 5sos #1 that went 1-10-15-19-23-26-32-35-etc last year~ hurrah for tough love ~ i honestly thought they'd miss the top100 with so much radio resistance #17 is a fantastic start for julio bashmore on the album chart ~ a top30/40 album on Friday would be an amazing result This post has been edited by Ethan: 10th August 2015, 05:20 PM |

Any sign of Sarah Harding?
I guess she won't get that number 1 hit after all. |

omg @ 1d collapsing 1-9- ~ they could well be out of the top ten altogether by Friday I'm by no way their fan but isn't it quite normal for an OA/OS single to drop in its second week? If anything, it was rather spectacular for them to be #1 with their surprise single. It is interesting to see how it will do in the long run when the airplay gets stronger, but this drop isn't something they have to be ashamed of. |

calvin harris + disciples 'how deep is your love' (7-6-2-2*-) I think this is more of an exception than 1D are tbh, it does seem that most OA/OS singles drop on week #2 (particularly as 1D are a fanbase oriented act, at least with regards to the first week), whereas Calvin has actually gone against the grain and is doing better in week #2 and so on! |

I'm surprised at the 1D drop because I thought it would still have huge streaming numbers?
Hope Selena stays top 40 |

I'll never get the meaning of the phrase "Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on" but I think it's nailed on for #1. You see, a long time ago there used to be a singer called Marvin Gaye, and he did a song called 'Let's Get It On', which was a huge hit in America. Later, his dad killed him. |

If Charlie Puth is 31k ahead of #2, I'll take a guess of ~50k sales up to now.
None of their songs have been good though. They are completely manufactured and don't have any proper talent. They are Simon Cowell's pop puppets. Much as I feel this kind of response is what you crave (and is the generic response to this kind of comment), pretty much every statement you've made there is a matter of opinion, not fact. I'm not going to respond by saying "But they are actually talented" as that's an opinion dressed up as a fact. As for "Simon Cowell's pop puppets", they are slowly having more input into their material so I'd argue against your use of the word 'puppets'. None of them, or no one associated with them, have claimed they are the greatest boyband on the planet in terms of musical artistry. It is a fact that they are the most successful boyband on the planet as things currently stand if you take into consideration record sales, tour sales and popularity. The way I see it, everything these guys are doing is harmless. I notice Only the Young's "I Do" is at #44 but I believe it's not been actually released yet and that's a placing determined by streaming? Score's "Oh My Love" at #68, the Asda advert not helping as much as I'd have liked. |

I'm surprised at the 1D drop because I thought it would still have huge streaming numbers? I thought that too, but as Joseph said, it's fallen out of the Top 10 on streaming. I guess the fact there was/is no audio video uploaded to YouTube meant that streaming was the only way of hearing it unless you bought it, which would explain why they had such massive first week streaming. Quite a clever way of making an On Air/On Sale song work really! I've no doubt the song will do well - easily going to climb 'Steal My Girl'-style when the video is released and will have some longevity in the Top 10. Not bad for a band who I thought would start becoming less successful as of the end of their last album campaign. |
