Hoping for Top 10 this week as streams still look to be good cheer.gif

Oh my god that’s super underwhelming for Arctic Monkeys! I guess they will go above 100k in a week but we could expect so much more from them.

Posted by: timjimlee 14th May 2018, 04:20 PM

Decent climb for Shawn, that Advert for his concert tickets has given the single a real boost.

Still hoping Arctic Monkeys can break 100k this week.

Posted by: SevenSeize 14th May 2018, 04:23 PM

Beach House hopefully heading for another top 20 debut like their last two albums *.*

Arctics could get close to 100k, maybe just over? around what i expected considering there's no singles preceding it

Posted by: danG 14th May 2018, 04:31 PM

Eurovision:

#32 SuRie - Storm
#57 Netta - Toy
#72 Eleni Foureira - Fuego

hopefully SuRie can stay top 40 but that seems very unlikely without good streaming and with it falling on iTunes. would be nice to see the other two remain top 100 too.

Posted by: Hadji 14th May 2018, 04:33 PM

Could be the first album to pass 100k first week sales in 2018

I actually think it is a decent result for them given the lack of Promo - clearly it was a conscious change of direction to avoid getting too big after AM, there are no big Singles on the Album but the Album stands up as one of the best of the year so far! Also interesting to see 3 of their Albums in Top 20 (and 4 in Top 40).

Posted by: SmileyKylie 14th May 2018, 04:38 PM

Good to see Kylie at 13. probably sell another 3k this week.

Is it really that underwhelming? I know there's always massive hype for them but there have been no singles preceding it, and plus the album has had mixed reviews. 100k for the week was pretty much what I was expecting in today's sales climate.

Would be interesting to know what their last two albums opened with though, if anyone has that info?

Only 2 of the UK EuroVision entries in the last 8 years have made the top 40. With less than 1 million streams as it stands, I don't rate SuRie's chances of making the top 75...

AM opened in 2013 with massive Sales of 157,329 but likelihood is they will exceed opening Sales of the two previous Albums before that:

2011 Suck It And See 82,424
2009 Humbug 96,313

Posted by: gavindeejay 14th May 2018, 05:22 PM

I hope they can get 100k, but I think they may just fall short.

Great to see Guetta/Sia on course for a third Top 10 together!

Posted by: The Hit Parade 14th May 2018, 05:39 PM

I realise streaming doesn't make a big difference for albums but the Arctics are doing quite well on that and there's missing data so I've decided they will cross into 6 figures.

Posted by: Bré 14th May 2018, 05:50 PM

Streaming increasingly is making a pretty big difference in the albums. Look at Post Malone for example.

Posted by: danG 14th May 2018, 06:01 PM

Arctics will probably do 20k in SES. Post Malone did 35k in SES (enough to get the #1 album even if he hadn't sold any downloads!) and they're doing roughly half as well.

The Big Top 40's methodology has changed and the top 10 is no longer the iTunes top 10 it would seem (see: Ariana being #1 this week). SuRie wasn't in the entire top 40 - maybe next week!

Technically not true since Thank Your Lucky Stars was released shortly after Depression Cherry with much less hype & fanfare and didn't even make the top 100. Shame as it's one of their best. Go "7" though cheer.gif

Wonderful to see Charlie Puth on track for a second top 10 album.
I never knew Magic Numbers were back and releasing an album, it looks that it wont be make too much of an impression on the chart.
Considering the sales climate, Arctic Monkeys are selling strong.
Another steady week for Kylie, it would be wonderful if she can maintain this for a few weeks to come.
Ideally at least 1 Eurovision track can stay on the chart but streaming as it has done so in the last 2 years makes it very difficult.

To be fair, the last Magic Numbers album in 2014 got to #57 in 2014, so their new one seems to be doing much better.

How many copies did Now 33 sell in its first week? I've looked at the charts analysis by Alan Jones for the week it entered at number 1 on the Compilations Chart (30/03/96) but he didn't give any sales for the album in his Music Week report.

Hoping for one of the new entries in the top 10 albums to drop below Kylie by Friday biggrin.gif

Posted by: pippa 16th May 2018, 06:12 PM

Kylie i would think is in with a top 10 return now and in contrast the Magic Numbers are now facing competition to stay top 50 region.

After some good releases and the delicious Anywhere Rita Ora has returned with a song that reminds me of why i wasnt a prior fan to her recent releases, its very disappointing.

SuRie likely not to stay in the top 40 but i never expected more than a low top 100 entry so if she stays top 50 it is a good result for her.

I don't think much of what is on the new AM album would be suited to festivals. I like the album but it's not really the type of music that would sit well with their back catalogue at a gig.

Posted by: Steve201 17th May 2018, 10:08 AM

Think AMs is doing really well considering there is no single beforehand just the hype of their comeback. Will sell decently over the festival season and it'll be one of the biggest openers of the year!

Posted by: Bjork 17th May 2018, 10:55 AM

myself I'm very very very disappointed, thought they would have done 100K in day 1
but after listening to the album i understand why it's selling lower thane expected

but actually I think if they had gone the usual route and done singles and grats, they would have sold even less, at least this way they got some curiosity streams from spotify

Totally - I think they will be very happy to exceed the first week Sales of their 2011 Album when the Sales climate was really different.
I can't think of many Artists on the Release Schedule this year that will exceed 100k (outside of the Christmas market).

Indeed and even at Xmas many albums don't open with 100k plus until Xmas week now!

Should Shawn stay top 10 do you think? Years & Years top 40 also?

Yes to both! There's only a few hundred between #8 and #10 (think we could end up seeing George at #8, Flames at #9 and Shawn at #10) but a gap of 2k between #10 and #11, so it's quite clear cut. I think both Y&Y and Selena could cling onto top 40!

AMs only selling 3/4K since yday so oooking like 15k for week 2 which will be a big drop!

A bit under 2k

Huge surprise if AM only get 1 week at #1 with their new album, and possibly are even overtaken by TGS of all albums.

Even at £4.99 Taylor Swift is struggling to sell copies in UK

Is her dominance now over? Ready for the new acts? Or does she just need to come and do some promo....

Posted by: Jonjo 17th May 2018, 06:36 PM

Yeah. I can see TGS back at #1 soon. Averaging about 5k a day atm, Arctic's about 4k. I wonder how much affect the weekend sales will have on the DVD and CD for TGS this week?

This era has been a total disaster for her, that's been quite well documented.

I wonder where James Bay will debut? Probably not at #1 sadly. I love Pink Lemonade and Us is alright, but Wild Love is a really poor lead single.

Posted by: UltraReputation 17th May 2018, 08:46 PM

Idk if you have sales that low down but is delicate set to avoid ACR? Thanks x

Yeah, I think pink lemonade should have been the lead single myself. With a promo push I could see that catching on with people. Wild Love is not the sort of song you would listen to on radio or a playlist, and then want to actively find who sings it or go to play it again.
