Thank you for all the suggestions for your chart flops of 2006, now we look at the next year, 2007. What songs do you remember from this time and why do you remember them fondly? These could be songs that failed to make the UK Top 40 Singles Chart, or even the Top 75, but they have to have been released as a single at some point during the year. I will nominate something in a little while that I personally enjoyed in this year, but for now, it’s over to you. |

This follow up from Hard-Fi after achieving their highest charting single with 'Suburbian Nights' peaked at 45.
Reverend and The Makers 3rd single peaked at 65. then there's this from Rooney who apparently were Girls Aloud's support act that summer. Peaked at 45 also! |

I was OBSESSED with Colbie Caillat, I first heard her music on MySpace and imported her album Coco, which is still in my all-time top ten. She was like a female Jack Johnson. Bubbly was huge all over the world, I don't know why it didn't get airplay support here, and peaked at No.65 in 2007 and I think No.58 after a re-release in 2008.
BWO were a popular band from Sweden, featuring Alexander Bard from Army of Lovers among its members. Chariots of Fire got a push in 2007 but failed to chart. They would return in 2008 with a pair of No.69 hits (one from Melodifesitvalen) but let's come back to those next time... I loved Amy MacDonald's debut album, but it didn't exactly light up the singles chart. This follow up to Mr Rock And Roll only got to No.48, but I really love it, as well as the album's great lost single, Barrowland Ballroom. Andrea Corr had a couple of stabs at a solo career, the first in 2007, but this didn't amount to anything commercially despite being a really good song, and failed to chart, but apparently got to No.38 on the physicals chart. One of the all-time greats to never grace the UK top 40, Regina Spektor got as far as No.45 with the amazing Fidelity. And reminds me I forgot to post the wonderful No.60 hit On The Radio in the 2006 thread. Released in early 2007, Chick Fit failed to chart for All Saints as the follow up to Rock Steady, and in fact the physical release I think was even cancelled to save costs. Such a shame. A brilliant summery dance song released in July, this one did just crack the top 40 at No.37 but deserved more. |

Emma Bunton - All I Need to Know
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Today the Sun's on Us Jamelia - No More - Didn't miss the top 40 but 'Headlines' was a HUGE underperformance for the Spice Girls considering all bar one of their previous singles reached #1. |

I do remember this one on the music channels a lot, it peaked at No.67 in May, sounds like it would have been bigger thanks to Akon's involvement.
I had absolutely no idea/recollection that this Swedish beauty made No.47 in the UK, with three weeks on the chart?? Maybe because OCC/Polyhex lists it as Laura instead of Oh Laura, I guess it must have been known as that in the UK. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 25th March 2024, 09:59 PM |

A brilliant summery dance song released in July, this one did just crack the top 40 at No.37 but deserved more. Yeah I think I definitely remember this one should have been more of a hit! One of the most fun electro-house songs this only made #45. This post has been edited by TheSnake: 26th March 2024, 12:36 AM |

Damien Rice - Rootless Tree
this is one of my fav songs ever, think it peaked at #50 but was not really properly pushed it's a song about when you break up with someone and you have the other person's guts don't think any other song in the hole history of music gives me the same feeling or energy the chorus is very simple (F**k you and all we've been through) but it's so cathartic even nowadays whenever I listen to it or play it myself on guitar or piano, I get the same exhilarating feeling |

Love the Paramore and Scissor Sisters tracks posted
This was one of my favourite dance tracks of the year, even finding its way onto Now 68, but only reached #63 in the chart. |

I Can't Decide got to #64 on downloads from solely appearing in the Doctor Who Series 3 finale. Perhaps if it had been an actual single it may have faired better

I know Watching You was posted in the 2006 thread so I can't help but post this here. A third single for Rogue Traders in the UK but it failed to impact at all despite a new video and new mix for the UK release. (This was played in a pub quiz once in an 'obscure music' round and the whole team was impressed I knew it! Ha)
Another track I absolutely loved at the time but it had a weird release (the CD was scrapped due to lack of support). Considering From Paris to Berlin and Self Control did rather well, I think this was a missed opportunity. Also posting 'Ten Miles' too as the fourth single from what is a really good album of theirs! Despite the shoddy release schedule, the album was still released in 2007 which I managed to nab from HMV. |

'Way To Go!'s original version + video was so much better, there was no need to alter it. Plus it probably should've been the second single to show a different side to them.
'I Won't Be Crying' is utterly marvellous I was reminded that existed a few months ago when the video got played in a Gran Canaria bar! |
