Kingdrick's 3rd studio album coming SOON, not much information available yet but we have a new song so I'm starting a thread. Yay.
Of course there is 'i' which we've had for ages ~ And here's a new untitled song, presumably from the album, premiered live on The Colbert Report the other day: Really loving this. Sounds much more like his previous stuff than 'i' which bodes well for that being an anomaly on the album (I did like it a lot but I'm really not sure how I'd feel about an album full of commercial OutKast-esque tracks, hopefully it should make more sense in the context of the album like 'Swimming Pools (Drank)' and 'Backseat Freestyle'). |

VERY excited of course. I will not deny that 'i' failed to blow me away, it didn't really leave an impression on me no matter how hard i tried to make it happen. But i still have very high hopes for this and that untitled track is doing a good job to ensure that continues.
Still maintain that 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' is one of the best urban albums i've ever heard so i hope this comes close to matching that! V hiipe~ |

Feels like it was put out to dispel the idea that he was going too pop with "i" (and timed quite well with the Grammy wins). Great track though with a powerful message. When it got to the chorus I thought it sounded like a familiar sample, but it's just that it's the same guy from Kanye's "I'm In It"

'The Blacker the Berry' definitely sounds like a point prover against the critics (including me~) of 'i'. He is SO much better doing things like this though. Such a good song and i'm upset it's apparently not on the album, as i'd love him to continue down this angry/dark route.

Are we sure it's not on the album? I've read that that 'Untitled' is the one that's being left out, which would make more sense. Flying Lotus just recently confirmed that he's worked on the album so fingers crossed for 'Never Catch Me' quality

I wonder if it's reflective of the online reaction to the songs where The Blacker The Berry was far better received than i. Track 3 is a sort of similar length to i, but it does blow away my theory of it being a sort of victory dance at the end (like Compton on GKMC). The Blacker The Berry is also 3 seconds shorter than the single version oddly (which means paying for it twice
 )But still, hype etc. |

I love 'The Blacker the Berry' but I also love 'i' so I hope that's on the album too!
Another very long song though :/ I always hate it when one song is considerably longer than the rest of the album. Don't ask why. |

'Money Trees' was the best album track for me (and possibly my favourite song on the entire album even including the singles).
