Rule The World is a really good song (even better if you’ve seen Stardust) so I’m so glad it won!

What a tragic result, Rule The World is awful and one of their worst singles.

'Don't Cha' is good but overrated whereas 'Rule The World' is one of Take That's best, great winner wub.gif

The End-of-Year Number 6 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

The Sugababes! With their sixth and final UK number one single 'About You Now'! It is the tightest final yet with 2 votes separating the final two tracks. The Sugababes are the third girl group to make it through to the Ultimate Survivor which will commence once the Number 10's champion is crowned. kink.gif

Now finishing runner-up...

I'm sad the iconic and equally controversial 'All the Things She Said' couldn't beat what I consider to be one of the weaker Sugababes singles. The song itself was groundbreaking back in 2003 for discussing themes of lesbian romance but it was the video - and the kiss in particular - which caused controversy at the time. The video is beautifully shot and I especially love the fact it initially appears t.A.T.u are the ones trapped in the playground (symbolising them unable to be free to love each other) and it then ends with the parents/crowd being the ones who are actually trapped (symbolising their own closed-mindedness). heart.gif The song topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks in February 2003 before being dethroned by Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' which funnily enough also featured a same-sex couple kissing. The song was a massive hit globally and reached #1 in numerous countries as well as reaching #20 in the US! The song (and t.A.T.u. in general) have been tainted slightly in recent years due to member Julia Volkova's homophobia but 'All the Things She Said' is still a banger and the sort of song you just don't get in the charts anymore! Shout out to 'All About Us' and 'Not Gonna Get Us' too!

Thanks once again to everyone participating! The Number 8 Survivor and the next round of Number 7's is coming up soon. cheer.gif

Fantastic winner and runner up wub.gif best top 2 so far easily imo!

Also 'Friend or Foe' was a great Tatu track. Wasn't far off the top 40 In 2005!

Tatu would have been even better but I do love that Sugababes song too, definitely one of their best.

The End-of-Year Number 7 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

Shakira! Where 'Hips Don't Lie' failed, 'Whenever, Wherever' has triumphed. cheer.gif This track clearly has its fans on Buzzjack (also finishing top 10 in the 2002 heat in BFNS) so a win isn't totally unexpected. However, it wasn't the landslide I may have predicted. laugh.gif

Now finishing runner-up...

It's Fragma with 'Toca's Miracle' which has also qualified for the final rate in BFNS! The track reached #1 in April 2000 after selling a strong 187,000 copies and remained at the summit for another week before 'Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty)' came along. The song was a decent-sized hit globally but the UK was the only major territory where it was able to top the charts. I can't say I would listen to it out of choice (unpopular opinion lol) and I'm glad Shakira won this Survivor. kink.gif

Thanks once again to everyone participating! The Number 9 Survivor and the next round of Number 8's is coming up soon. cheer.gif

The Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: Heat Results are being revealed HERE.

Shakira is a deserving winner, but it really should have been Anastacia!

Agreed!^ but can't complain, probably the best winner of all the survivors so far. Fragma put up a very decent challenge!

The End-of-Year Number 8 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

'Groovejet'! cheer.gif The dance classic wins the EOY Number 8 Survivor meaning we now have two songs from 2000 making it through to the Ultimate Survivor! We also have a pair of songs from both 2001 and 2007 winning a Survivor. There are yet to be any winners from the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. ohmy.gif Back to 'Groovejet', I'm so glad it has won - especially since the iconic 'The Ketchup Song' got booted! It is clearly well-regarded on this forum. heart.gif

Now finishing runner-up...

The ABBA sampling smash hit from the queen of pop! The track reached number one in the UK in November 2005 and stayed at the summit for three weeks. The song became Madonna's 11th UK number one and earned her an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for the song reaching the top spot in the most countries - 41! Needless to say, the song became an enormous hit worldwide. I've grown to like it over time but I much prefer 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' out of the two. I thought this would be a surefire winner before I opened round 1 so was shocked to see it poll many votes even in the first poll. It did well to recover. laugh.gif

Thanks once again to everyone participating! The Number 10 Survivor and the next round of Number 9's is coming up soon. cheer.gif

WINNER: Spiller ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet [63.16%] 24 out of 38 votes

Runner-up: Madonna - Hung Up [36.84%] 14 out of 38 votes

03. Take That - Patience [54.76%] 23 out of 42 votes
04. Blu Cantrell feat. Sean Paul - Breathe [45.95%] 17 outs of 37 votes
05. Las Ketchup - The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) [34.29%] 12 out of 35 votes
06. Basshunter - Now You're Gone [38.24%] 13 out of 34 votes
07. Shaggy feat. Rayvon - Angel [40.54%] 15 out of 37 votes
08. Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name [36.84%] 14 out of 38 votes
09. Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl [34.88%] 15 out of 43 votes
10. The Proclaimers feat. Brian Potter & Andy Pipkin - (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles [28.26%] 13 out of 46 votes

Glad we picked the correct finalist but I don't hold Groovejet too high in regard personally. Definitely one I rarely play through choice.

The End-of-Year Number 9 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

Teenage Dirtbag! Ever since Round 4, Wheatus have polled the second-most amount of votes to be eliminated every round and have continued to defy the odds! ohmy.gif Now in a final head-to-head against Buzzjack fave Britney and her adored hit 'Toxic', they have once again shocked us! I look forward to seeing how TD performs in the Ultimate Survivor which kicks off after the Number 10's survivor finishes. kink.gif

Now finishing runner-up...

'Toxic' was released in the UK in March 2004 and sold over 102,000 copies in order to clock a week at number one (you would think a pop classic would have scored more than one week at the top!) giving Britney her fourth UK chart topper. The song also gave Britney her joint-second highest hit in the US at the point of its release - peaking at #9. I honestly thought it was going to win this survivor by a landslide - and it looked that way at one point when it barely received any votes in the earlier rounds!

Thanks for the continued participation. cheer.gif

WINNER: Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag [53.33%] 24 out of 45 votes

Runner-up: Britney Spears - Toxic [46.67%] 21 out of 45 votes

03. Liberty X - Just A Little [46.34%] 19 out of 41 votes
04. Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie [46.51%] 20 out of 44 votes
05. Rihanna - SOS [35.00%] 14 out of 40 votes
06. S Club 7 - Never Had A Dream Come True [34.15%] 14 out of 41 votes
07. Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes [41.46%] 17 out of 41 votes
08. Room 5 feat. Oliver Cheatham - Make Luv [33.33%] 12 out of 36 votes
09. Alexandra Burke feat. Flo Rida - Bad Boys [31.43%] 11 out of 35 votes
10. Westlife - You Raise Me Up [28.95%] 11 out of 39 votes

Seriously though. It's one thing that people tolerate 'Teenage Dirtbag' at all (it's genuinely one of the most repulsive songs ever recorded in my opinion but whatever, I am a minority in that opinion clearly). But to vote for it over 'TOXIC'? Genuinely what is wrong with you all? manson.gif I've never been more let down by this website's judgement xx

cheeseblock.png A true bright spark in the darkness that was 2020.

I like Toxic too, but it wins everything on here, this is a wonderful surprise I would never have called.

Oxygen tends to win the poll for everyone's favourite gas to breathe as well. But maybe we should give carbon monoxide a chance for once. x

Clearly it was a protest vote and I won't be convinced otherwise.
