Oh no! Hello From Mars is one of my absolute favourites from Latvia. Admittedly it scratches the same sort of pleasant itch as Butterflies which I like a bit more inexplicably but F.L.Y is one of the early Latvian greats.
LOVE Utopian Land, Aven Romale and Don't Close Your Eyes but y'all knew that and condemn me for it regularly. Right choice on No Dream Impossible, that one was abysmal for us. |

2003 was an odd one with the previous year's top three finishing in the bottom three. I don't think Lynn or F.L.Y. deserved to come bottom three at all, I think Hello From Mars is quite anthemic in its own way.
Love No Dream Impossible too, apart from the rent-a-rapper. And don't mind the Portugal song from that year, but it's the first year I really took great notice of the contest and bought the compilation so I have a sort of affinity with almost every song from that year. Also seems so odd now that Brian Kennedy managed as high as 10th in 2006 in the televoting era with that track. It didn't exactly stand out, though I appreciate Una from The Sats being on backing vocals there. Nearly everything else mentioned here so far is indeed awful. |

Glad to see "Attention" eliminated early on though I actually feel it deserves to be even lower! It was ATROCIOUS. Lithuania have yet to send anything good or better as far as I'm concerned. "Eastern European Funk" is probably their best to date.
"My Friend" I'd imagine would be in the 300s for me. Also is there actually any proof of his homophobia? Perhaps it was internalised The other 3 from this section I've forgotten so they can't have made much of an impression on me! |

Even though he apparently backtracked some years later lol but still, claiming you're more deserving of happiness than any other group of people makes me instantly dislike you, even if you take it back when you get criticised by the public for it. |

Hmmm. Perhaps he's trying to make up for that... he must surely know there's a huge cult LGBT following at Eurovision as well.
Anyway I'm thoroughly enjoying this countdown and I'm agreeing with most of it so far. I think we have fairly similar opinions (at the moment anyway!) |

Nah, it was definitely me. What with me having declared My Friend the best entry since Euphoria (which it completely is) and all.
Attention is an utter mess though, definitely agree with you on that. |

I adore Era Stupendo, for me it has a soaring, gorgeous melody, particularly towards the end, I was really disappointed it DNQ'd.
Surprised Josh Dubovie didn't come lower Surely our worst ever entry, a complete abomination straight out of the Pontins holiday camp bluecoat auditions rejects pile circa summer 1988. Josh's final note was so bad and the performance was cringeworthy, amazed it wasn't a nul pointer. |

I thought Josh Dubovie's entry was Pete Waterman's fault? Absolutely ABYSMAL. We've had some stinkers this century but that one is even worse.

Yeah it was Pete Waterman Utterly horrific either way ofc. I can't believe that in the 21st century, anybody thought it was a good idea to contact Pete Waterman for a Eurovision entry when that sound went out of date in the early 90s! We've had some stinkers, some bores and just some misguided entries that went a bit wrong, but that is by far the worst thing we've ever sent, genuine embarrassment. Even Scooch at least was sort of Eurovision level cheese rather than totally dated and cringe, Rich's description is spot on.
