Do you think never too late is the best single from enjoy yourself or were others better for you?

Posted by: aeroco Aug 17 2020, 10:00 PM

Definitely the best of the 4. Love it and TARS version.

Its a yes for me, the abbey roads version is one of the better new versions of some songs but its not a patch on the original. Its a shame that never too late broke the run of top 3 singles as it deserved number 1 but it did well as the album had sold very well by the time of its release.

It is the best single served from Enjoy Yourself.
There are better tracks housed on the album.

I think it’s the best single but my favourite is wouldn’t change a thing! ❤️

By hundreds of miles.

I prefer "Wouldn't change a thing".

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 18 2020, 04:11 PM

Wouldnt change a thing is really good but 3rd for me and a bit like Never too late it doesn't get performed all that much.

Hand on your heart is my favourite followed by never too late.

To the wider audience Hand OnYour Heart would be higher regarded.

Probably hugely more well-known too.

Ya hoyh is far more known and it's a well known kylie song,,never too late wouldnt be nearly as known but I'd also say tears on my pillow is prob very well known aswell, both are prob the most known off the album.

Not Kylies most popular song among fans but Tears on My Pillow is a very well known Kylie song.
A Top 10 i think of her most known songs outside the fanbase.

My mind changes a lot, especially between 'NTL' & 'HOYH' & honestly at the moment, YES 'NTL' is my fave single from Kylie's fabulous 2nd album. Simple in its construction, yet perfectly executed, making this the perfect 3rd single choice. Even with its placement on the album as track #3 is quite genius. The 1-2-3 punch of 'Hand On Your Heart', 'Wouldn't Change A Thing', then 'Never Too Late', really makes for a perfect flow.

Okay it may have been interesting to see how the title track 'Enjoy Yourself' could have fared as single #3, but 'NTL' was/is & will always be the BEST choice & still to this day remains one of Kylie's best loved & most memorable singles of her career. Plus in my opinion I don't think 'EY' would have been so fondly remembered as this was, although chart wise it would have probably had a pretty similar performance with a top 5 peak.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 19 2020, 02:43 PM

I think chart wise enjoy yourself and never too late would have more or less done the same, and outside of the fans would possibly be remembered much the same too, both songs i love but slightly prefer enjoy yourself as this and over dreaming over you are my faves on the album but never too late is not one of the singles i would swap out for another song, i think it would have to be wouldnt change a thing, tears on my pillow worked as a single for the film and album and gave her that all important number 1 which no other single would have probably managed. Enjoy yourself is a hard one as so many songs would make great singles so 1 or 2 songs were always going to miss out unless they went with 6 singles which would never happen back then.

Posted by: pippa Aug 19 2020, 11:11 PM

When you deliver an album of such strength as Enjoy Yourself there is a multitude of options for singles.
In the modern industry a set of 6 singles would be successful for an on trend artist.
This path was not used back in the Enjoy Yourself era.

The double a sided singles wasnt something saw did back in the day, well officially, but i think je ne sas pais pourquai and made in heaven was meant to be.

Posted by: pippa Aug 20 2020, 10:19 AM

It was planned that way but they decided Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquai due to its success was the single.
Made in Heaven was due to be promoted later in the release but they didn't proceed.
Made In Heaven was a new song specifically recorded for that purpose which I think Kylie performed at a Royal Variety performance.
It was also used as an international b side on Its No Secret and Turn It Into Love.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 20 2020, 10:47 AM

I have always loved made in heaven, and it's good it appeared on some of the greatest hits. I always preferred it to JNSPP.

Posted by: pippa Aug 20 2020, 03:18 PM

Both songs are a complete contrast to each other.
Je Ne Sas Paid Pourquai was a mature sound and highly different to much of PWLs output.
Made in Heaven was throwaway and fun.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 20 2020, 04:07 PM

Made in heaven is pop cheese at its bets.
