It's 15 years since 'Red Blooded Woman' was released as the second single from Body Language. Kylie made a transition into urban territory by injecting hip-hop flavours into her synthpop sound, creating a sexy and confident number that got fans hailing it an album highlight. Critics noted its 'American sound' which made it an obvious choice of song to push the album in the US. It may not have received the success there that the record company may have hoped for, but it did give Kylie another hit across Europe and in Australia and managed to steer the era on the right path for a while.

15 years on, how does 'Red Blooded Woman' rate for you?

My feelings always change on this song, usually it’s a very “meh” moment but when it’s on I don’t think it’s as bad as I usually do but overall this whole era was a low point for me, even slow was as first. But, based on the album (easily my least liked) it’s the best of a bad bunch, “loving days” is the only other “single” for me on the album. So basically I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t purposely look to find it to play either.

Not a highlight for me and easily my least liked single off body language. I love slow and chocolate but everything else from body language I don't really listen to.

Red Blooded Woman is a single i rarely revisit unless it comes on a play list by accident.
So many of other lesser charting singles were more worthy of Red Blooded Womans chart position.
With Red Blooded Woman and in large most of Body Language sounded like Kylie was trying to be something she wasnt and it didn't work out the best.

This seems to have gone from being one of the album highlights at the time to being pretty underrated. I love it! It sounds so cool and confident; it's R&B but in a way that feels distinctly Kylie.

She went all out with the live performances - this is what I could gather:

Promotional Performances

NRJ Awards (24/01/2004)
NRJ Sweden (25/01/2004)
Live Hit Machine (07/02/2004)
Good Morning America (10/02/2004)
The Late Show with David Letterman (13/02/2004)
Top of the Pops (20/02/2004)
Parkinson (28/02/2004)
G-A-Y (28/02/2004)
CD:UK (28/02/2004)
Live Des & Mel (04/03/2004)
Echo Awards (06/03/2004)
Top of the Pops (06/03/2004)
TV Total (06/03/2004)
Bravo Supershow (27/03/2004)

I liked it a lot at the time, but I feel like it's aged so so badly. It's one of my least favourite Kylie singles this century.

Clever little pop song, totally underrated. Though the ‘freaking around’ lyric is a step too far.

Initially, it's my favourite song of Kylie but I gradually lost interest in it. The video is one of her best though, love the dance on the ladder!

Been listening to a lot of Kylie recently and discovering this properly. Sounds so feisty amongst the rest of her back catalogue but it suits her perfectly. Totally underrated and MUCH better than Slow!

I would swap out Red Blooded Woman for most of the singles omitted from the Greatest Hits with the exception of Where is The Feeling.

Slow was a different but strong single choice and the correct lead single from Body Language.
It is not an era i relate to as having a good singles run.
That said, the 3 singles continued her run of Top 10 hit singles.

Such a strange era for me - at the time despite 100% supporting it I hated ‘Body Language’ but now I really like it and listen to it often. It was meant to be her big break in the states and I’m almost glad it faltered as I think the output from Kylie had it been a success would have been VERY different.

RBW was a meh moment for me at the time.

This thread prompted me to stream BL tonight - they really did chose the best songs as singles, not sure there are any missed opportunities on this like some other Kylie albums.
