I decided to dedicate a thread to those forgotten pop gems that were never fully appreciated at their time of release.
I'll started with Meja's "Spirits", the lead single from her 2000 album "Realities". The song peaked at #24 in Sweden, which while it wasnt bad, it was hardly the big hit it should've been imo. This post has been edited by Euphorique: Apr 7 2016, 04:34 PM |

Don't know if it's old enough to be considered oldskool (2009) but I always found this very underrated:
It peaked at number 16 in the UK charts and lasted a measly 4 weeks top 100 This post has been edited by Jimmy Jam: Apr 7 2016, 04:47 PM |

Much prefer it to the much more successful 'Boogie 2Nite' and I still listen to it lots to this date. |

Definitely agree with this! Much prefer it to the much more successful 'Boogie 2Nite' and I still listen to it lots to this date. Completely agree. Boogie 2Nite is good and fine after a few drinks, but Say It is an absolute jam! One of my favourite noughties tracks, even now |

Was listening to this just now, and I thought I'd pop it in here. Very underrated imo, especially here in the UK.

Completely agree. Boogie 2Nite is good and fine after a few drinks, but Say It is an absolute jam! One of my favourite noughties tracks, even now Yeah, I think I agree with that sentiment! Another fab choice in 'Your Body' too! I remember it getting Capital support at the time so, especially after 'Moves Like Jagger', I was hoping it would be a smash. It may be a bit faceless when you compare it to the Xtina classics but that doesn't make it any less of an anthem fit for the dancefloor. |

I loved this back in 09/10! So underrated, better than Kesha's one for sure. Should've been her lead solo single

I feel like Your Love's A Drug would've done much better than Somebody To Love had it been her first single. A few months later Kesha smashed with a similar sounding song with an identical title

Alizee - J'en Ai Marre
Ok tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Coldplay completely ripped this song off |

Does anyone remember this? It's more or less forgotten but I remember it always being on the music channels at one point.

'Misfit' is amazing. I always associate it with '(There's Gotta Be) More To Life' by Stacie Orrico! As I'm sure they were always on the music channels at roughly the same times!

I don't remember ever seeing her videos on TV but my mum always played Amy Studt's album in the car and I loved it. It was that, Kylie's Light Years and some Robbie albums that I can recall envisioning music videos in my head, usually involving myself. I'd consider the album one of my all time favourites and it's one that I can't just listen to one song, I have to listen to the full album. That's not because the songs sound best as part of an album rather than a stand alone piece or anything like that, more that once I've listened to one, I just want to listen to them all.
I couldn't tell you my favourite song. The first 9 (I have the version that doesn't include 'All I Wanna Do', so 'Just a Little Girl' to 'Gonna Be Fine') are just faultless. Now I'm going to have the album on repeat for the next week or so! |

One of the best dancepop tracks of the 90s, heading for a high chart position but it got disqualified due to allegations of bulk-buying. A reissue a year later only just sneaked in at #40.
Samantha Fox did a Sash/DJ Quicksilver-inspired cover a few years later, which also only just went top 40. Love them both! |

Kristinia DeBarge - Goodbye (how did this not smash)
Kat DeLuna - Run the Show (ditto) Speaking of Stacie Orrico, "I'm Not Missing You" is incredible, I wish she'd have been bigger or at least kept making music |

... and speaking of Stacie Orrico! One of the song writers for (There's Gotta Be) More To Life had this killer song of her own:
Such an undeserved flop. |
