your votes have been counted up and we now have a winner - but firstly let's take a look at how this year's finalists performed last year. Ariana scored two of the top 3 so she's in prime position to take the vacant seat left by 'Bad Romance', but there's a lot of change this year so perhaps we could have a left field #1 contender or even a #1 return from Carly Rae, or Robyn in her final year.

We have a round 10 songs from 2010 to go through this year getting one last chance at RotD success. Two of these drop out in the bottom five with Katy B unfortunately not being able to end her run with a new peak for KOAM, though getting in the top 100 is an achievement of itself as it's only the third time it's made it this far. Katy still has the other Buzzjack favourite 'Crying for No Reason' yet to come so she's still got 4 more years before likely exiting for good.

The other song we're saying goodbye to is 'Wonderful Life' which on its final push re-enters the top 100 after five years to also get its third such appearance. It finishes in 2nd-from-last but it was somewhat of a surprise qualifier anyway, only making it to the semis by five points. Maybe next year we can try and give 'Under Control' a bit more of a push (or make everyone appreciate their wonderful Christmas song), but until that happens it's goodbye to Hurts from the upper reaches of the RotD chart.

Hurts were for a good while looking like being last here but a final push put them on top of Billie Eilish who ends up at #100 with 'Bad Guy'. Not a position I'll argue with, given its overexposure last year did kill my enjoyment of the song somewhat - 'Everything I Wanted' is the better of the two in here so it's pleasing to see those are in the right order. Another 2019 song (out of the 8 that made it) joins her at the other end of the post in 'Don't Call Me Up', Mabel's first and only (so far) appearance in the top 100.

What else is new to the top 100 then? Well firstly the mildly controversial finalist pick of 'Kill V. Maim', which scraped through to the semis and likewise scraped through to the finals based on a group of big supporters. Unsurprisingly given that it ends up in 98th though with a healthy points total of 250 (but with the smallest number of voters for it, just ten supporters). We will see Grimes again as 'Flesh Without Blood' made its 4th RotD final.

Charli XCX has likewise seen an increase of support this year which gives her three songs climbing into the final - two of those for the first time. After a reasonably good start with '1999' last year, making it to the semis, the track went one step further this year and takes Charli back to... '94. She is joined by Major Lazer who appear to now be a staple of the lowest section of the final with 'Lean On', my personal fave of this particular bunch, still refusing to recover from its initial collapse having made the top 40 in year one, but at least the song's got some legs. Marina also spends a 3rd year in the final with 'Primadonna' although it falls from last year's peak. The big collapse of the year however goes to Ariana Grande as 'Break Free' slides down to #93, what will this mean for her other tracks then? ohmy.gif Foster The People are also here continuing their steady top 200 run.

I wouldn't have thought Bad Guy would be propping up the list but maybe you're right about overexposure. Katy the first big pointer I've list but I was pleasantly surprised that made it this far.

This section see’s a farewell to another 2010 song and this time it’s What’s My Name. The song in previous years has managed to reach the top 40 and on one occasion peaked in 8th place, this year however it drops to its lowest ever position in 89th. Not the best farewell to the song, however Rhianna still has a couple more songs to come in the top 100 including one which has finished within the top 10 the last 3 years.

Also here we have 2 new entries; Sweet But Psycho enters in 90th place after receiving backing by 15 voters and also Gone by Charli XCX in 88th place this also gained 15 votes throughout the voting period. I sort of expected Sweet But Psycho to perform a little better given there being a number of Ava stans on the forum. There’s double dippage from Disclosure as White Noise and Latch stay close to each other, in the final vote however both songs drop out of the top 80 for this year. Latch managed to score votes from 20 people to White Noise's 16 to secure the small lead.

There’s also some big climbs here too as Marry the Night surges 122 places to enter the top 100 for the first time in 85th Place. Whilst it climbs to its highest position, it’s the lowest of the 7 GaGa songs which are in this years ROTD top 100. Shake it Out also takes a climb and re-enters the top 100 in 84th Place, however a far cry from its initial top 40 debut. After 3 years out of the top 100, I Love It has a return to form as it climbs over 100 places to 83rd place. I Love it is the 3rd and final appearance by Charli XCX, all of the songs she’s involved with being out in the bottom 20. Rounding out the climbers is Ghost which surges 98 places back up the chart; possibly a reaction to Ella being more active/ back in the charts over the last year.

Starboy drops 7 places however should be noted that its had quite a stable run over the last 4 years, but never seems to be able to climb into the higher regions of the finalists. I'm sure in next years ROTD that a certain song by the Weeknd is probably going to do very well and possible even out peak Starboy... however I guess time will tell on that one!

big shame to see What's My Name tanking in its final year, but at least it managed to keep its perfect top 100 run. we'll be missing you.
Prior to hosting I was expecting SBS to do a LOT better than 90th considering the mass hype it had at the time, but I can't complain at its low position as it fell well outside my votes. Perhaps it would've gone top 50 last year had it been eligible as a 2018 song.
seeing the two Disclosure songs together again is pleasing, though it'd be preferable had they actually climbed.

'Latch' done so dirty on its 8th birthday today with that fall kink.gif was my +40, such a mesmerising dance record wub.gif I was disappointed by Sam's solo direction after that collaboration but they've pulled me back more in recent times with the likes of 'How Do You Sleep?' + 'Dancing With A Stranger'.

My next favourite of these two batches is 'Kill V. Maim' and that did climb this year, yay! Intrigued to see how 'Flesh Without Blood' has done now.

'bad guy' coming dead last is pretty surprising! Happy that her superior song has done better though. 'Katy On A Mission' deserved better but for a song that I vividly remember being pretty massively hated on here when it was first released it's had a good run in this, good to see it going out on one of its better results. And hooray for '1999' getting a new peak plus 'Gone' avoiding the bottom 10 here!

Not going to complain about the slump for 'Break Free'. Still rooting for her to take the win here with 'no tears left to cry' though.

Kill vs Maim robbed for being better than nearly every other song in this final bye

Marry The Night doesn't normally get this far, the Gaga overload has been quieter this year but clearly more concentrated when even average songs like that are getting in

we need more Ava stans, Sweet But Psycho needs to win this thing at some point in the future and it should be well placed to

Following 'What's My Name', Katy Perry takes a very large fall with 'Teenage Dream' on its final go, although it at least spends an 8th consecutive year in the top 100. It means there is now a new Buzzjack fave of Katy's - it is of course 'Never Really Over' which has at least made the top 70. Another section also means another Lady Gaga song drops out, with 'Born This Way' sliding to #78 - it is the 2nd of 4 songs of hers here from 2011. In between them is Grimes with her 2nd entry, falling a bit again this year though still a good 19 spots ahead of 'Kill V. Maim'. It means she loses her title of 'biggest non-top 40 single' as we still have Tame Impala and 2 Arcade Fire songs yet to come.

Sadly 'Symphony' continues its fall although it's not as drastic as last year's, although it did finish in 8th in the Dance forum version of this I did earlier this year. Ellie and Demi both drop out of the top 50 with Demi just ahead from having 18 voters to Ellie's 15. Little Mix also drop big down 40 places with 'Touch', it means 'Move' is now their top song. We also reach the 4th-highest track of the 2019 entries already which comes from Kygo & Whitney having topped the year-end multichart and finishing 3rd in the yearly round. As one of the year's best big hit singles it's an entry I can get behind although the final quality was so good that it just missed out on my votes. Also new to the top 100 is Tove Lo finally making it in her 6th year with 'Stay High' and Taylor makes a climb with 'Blank Space' the first of 3 entries for her.

It always surprises me how well remembered "Figure 8" is, but I'm pleased as it's definitely one of Ellie's best songs. Good to see "Higher Love" in the top 75 just about as well.

A selection of big climbers next as we see the biggest climb this year going to Lana Del Rey’s Ride which climbs from outside last years top 500 to 65th place. The song reaches an all-time high and cracks the top 100 for the first time. Lana in fact has two entries here and both gained the same score; however Summertime Sadness overall had more support 18 votes to Ride’s 15. These are the first of 4 appearances by Lana this year who has on the whole had a very good year.

Cut to the Feeling climbs back into the top 100 after a blip last year to climb a new high, this is the first appearance by Carly with her previous ROTD winner Run Away With Me still to come. Spectrum also takes a big surge this year after dropping to an all-time low last year, this year the song is back with a vengeance and climbs to its best position to date. Lady GaGa make’s an appearance with Judas at 69; after 9 years, the song reaches its best position to date and climbs into the top 70 for the first time.

At 68, it’s the first of 4 appearances by Calvin Harris as Pray to God climbs a place to 68 and also reaches a new high. However whilst some songs of climbed here, Feel the Love slips 3 places and Move drops 17 spots; this is also the highest placed song by Little Mix with both of their appearances coming in the lower half of the final 100. We also have the highest placed song by Katy Perry here too as Never Really Matters debuts in 63rd place – whilst this is a good debut I don’t think this has been Katy’s strongest performing ROTD year with no songs even gracing the top 50. Rounding off this section is Justin Bieber’s Sorry which climbs 46 places this year and returns to the top 100 after a two year absence and reaching a record low last year, this is also the Biebs highest placed song this year.

Definitely not a very good year for Katy, gutted to see Teenage Dream bow out at such a low position compared to last year and Never Really Over definitely deserved better too. sad.gif

I don't like to see it.

I would like to see the members who gave the highest points for the songs in the stats. teresa.gif
