This looks really good. From Weeds creator Jenji Kohan. Already renewed for season two. Premieres July 11 on Netflix.
Starring KATE MULGREW
I've been felt up, stalked and called TAYLOR SWIFT.
This is fantastic! I should be outside, not binge watching this.
Who knew Jenji Kohan still had it in him.
The immense shade...
^ Ha! I got quite confused there for a second!
I'm gonna start watching this tonight. I ADORED Weeds so I hope I like this.
Holy crap, she is. All these years.
Why aren't people talking/watching this?
Easily my favourite new show in ages. Great finale too! NEED SEASON 2.
I'm waiting til I get time to marathon it. Which could be a while. Did you watch House of Cards, Ryan?
Yeah, I don't like watching one episode at a time so I'm waiting until I have the weekend for myself to watch, too. It doesn't help that I always forget to download this as well OOPS
Easily one of the best shows in a long time. Each character is really well-written and directed, and I love their backstories as well. I wasn't expecting it to end like that at all. Apparently Pennsatucky is in the main cast for the next season, so I'm assuming the ending to season one was a tad misleading. Season 2 will definitely be worth watching if they continue the story.
It also took me way too long to realize that Pornstache is played by Pablo Schreiber.
I'm waiting to marathon it at some point too, probably not for a few weeks yet as I've got shitloads of other stuff on the list in front of it.
I'm loving that Kate Mulgrew has been getting near universal praise for her role *.*
Caved in and watching now.
AMAZING pilot.
5 episodes down. 8 to go. Incredible incredible show.
THE CHICKEN!
Currently DYING of laughter at that impression of white people in the episode 6.
Just finished this and f***ING HELL that was incredible. That ending! *.*
The best show of this season BY FAR.
LITERALLY so good. My boyfriend and I just finished everything. The last couple episodes had me in tears. Taystee is everything.
Also I'm not really sure how to continue existing knowing that the Yoga girl played the voice of Patti from Doug.
THIS. IS. AMAZING.
Binge watched this yesterday and just have the Season Finale to go. It's amazing.
Taystee is my new favourite character in any programme. Legend.
ALSO:
Apparently one of the main actresses of this show is leaving?
I don't think anything has been like SUPER CONFIRMED yet. It doesn't say she WILL leave, it says she MIGHT.
Came across this by chance and glad I did its brilliant..I watched it within a week of knowing about it, shame it wasn't longer but soooo can't wait for season 2
Absolutely AMAZING show. I am hooked, currently on the 11th episode and seriously the best show I have watched in absolutely ages.
I really love most of the female characters too, there is not many I find myself annoyed by surprisingly.
Jack bumping this has reminded me I really need to get round to watching this! I've gotten into so many other things since this crossed my mind and just forgot but I've heard nothing but huge praise for it.
Well if, in addition to the likes of TRIANGLES, Jack likes it then LITERALLY EVERYBODY will.
The last episode was SO tense. I was so scared for Chapman, even if she can be a hypocritical douche I do generally feel for her for some reason. Was so happy to see that religious c**t finally get what was coming to her. Going to be very interesting to see what happens next season now! Shame I will have to wait what will seem like FOREVER though
Just realised who Taystee reminds me of!
My friend was horrified I hadn't seen this yet. She put the pilot on and we then watched 3 further episodes....
I'll be right back, going to resume my netflix membership....
The first series was INCREDIBLE and I have great expectations for the second season. It is due to go on Netflix this Summer hopefully, although there have been rumours of a first episode being available as early as February!
Here are some spoilers/info we have about it so far;
-There will be “some pretty amazing flashbacks,” said Jen Rogien, costumer designer for the show, to Entertainment Weekly. “We travel into different time periods to see the characters’ backstories.”
-Laura Prepon (Alex Vause) will be on four episodes of the new season before exiting the show, reported BuzzFeed. Jason Biggs (Larry) will be back as well, reported EW.
-Season two “is going to be just as good if not better than the first,” Jason Biggs told EW. “[Larry] wants to support Piper. In the beginning, ostensibly, he’s going to do everything he can to support Piper, but ultimately he realizes that he’s kind of a victim in all of it and he needs to take care of himself as well, but to what extreme, and how far should he take that exactly? Ultimately, he ends up taking advantage of Piper and the situation she’s in, and becomes a little greedy and a little questionable.”
-Filming is expected to wrap up this month, according to executive producer Sara Hess. A release date could be announced soon. And a trailer will surely emerge soon
merging these together jack so we have some continuation and it's all kept nicely together
Looking forward to it! Absolutely LOVING this.
FINALLY got round to this, absolutely love it! Just watched the first two episodes, I can tell I'm gonna be flying through it.
Season 2 is premiering June 6, feels like that's ages away, although I guess it's only 3 months or so away and we did have summer as a tentative timeframe for its premiere. I'm really eager to see how the ending of season 1 develops, especially whether Tiffany survives and what happens to Piper as a result, ie whether she is implicated in the attack which she surely will be.
DVD/Blu-Ray out in the UK on 19 May! Can't wait to watch it all again (especially the last episode)
Season 2 Trailer;
LOOKS AMAZING .
Even more excited for this now I've seen the trailer Really can't wait to see how the end of season 1 picks up.
Laura Prepon (Alex) announced that the show has been renewed for a third season via Instagram!
Currently rewatching season 1 in anticipation for Friday! So excited to see how they resolve the season finale.
I am doing the same! So excited for this, probably the most excited I have ever been for a TV series in a long time actually .
I've also been watching season 1 again, I'm on the finale which I'll watch tomorrow. I have to agree this is the most excited I've been for a TV show in ages, there are so many exciting things still to develop for so many of the characters and still so much to resolve!
I've decided to pace myself and watch it over the weekend instead of binging it on Friday, savour it! If it's anywhere near as gripping as season 1 though that'll be a challenge.
I accidentally read spoilers for the first episode
Pensatuckey is fine, but Piper gets put in SHU for a few years, just for this episode she gets transferred to a Chicago prison to testify in the trial of Alex's boss in the drug cartel, when she comes back to Lichfield she's very much a "lone wolf"
Just re-watched the first season. Forgot how good this show was. Second time round though I did find myself emphasising much more with Alex and alot less with Piper, but I still like her. We all make a lot of mistakes and it is good that the "heroine" of the show isnt portrayed to be perfect or whatever. Excited to see how everything develops, like Liam said a lot of things were left open at the end of the first season.
Tonnes of OITNB adverts on C5 tonight!
Is it going live at midnight?
I was gonna watch an episode or two before bed but I think it's at midnight EST (or whichever time zone they use for US shows idk) that it's out not midnight our time, so I think it's about 8am our time. It's frustrating because it's almost like the closer the time is the further away it feels
EDIT: yep it's 8:01am UK time, Netflix UK tweeted it.
I've watched the first 2 episodes, so far so good, enjoyed the second one more though. Trying not to watch all in one go but we shall see how that pans out.
I got through episodes 1-4 earlier, it's lucky I had to go out or I'd have probably binge watched like 10 episodes I'm gonna try and stagger it across the weekend.
oh my GOD 'A Natural Woman'!
I DIED
I'm done
I won't say anything more than how amazing the ending was! This season was just as good and gripping as season 1.
I've still got 2 episodes of Season 1 left!! ARGH!!! My best mate is already done and I'm going to have avoid her like the f***ing plague until I catch up.
I'm halfway through and it's getting a lot better after a shaky first couple of episodes...
I'm missing the consistent humour of the first series tho'
I really dont think it is anywhere near as good as the first series, nothing seems to REALLY be happening and I am at episode 7 now .
Amazing ending to season two (and one, I've watched all of both in the past week). I think during the middle of season two there was far too much focus on Vee's gang and the race division but overall it was just as enjoyable as the first for me.
There was far too much focus on the black women this season, and I'm so disappointed at how they portrayed Crazy Eyes this season. Really disliked her for nearly all of the episodes, shame because she was fantastic in season 1.
Piper remained amazing though, and THAT ENDING WAS JUST PERFECT.
The only problems I had with the series were:
- Black Cindy was seriously irritating, it's like they saw Taystee was popular and wanted a fifth rate copy.
- Crazy Eyes was ruined, I don't get the mindless following of Vee, I kinda had a theory that Vee is her mother but she wouldn't know surely? Maybe she just thought Vee was her mother or has "mommy issues" and loved the thought if Vee as a mother figure.
- I still need to know what Red did to get put in Litchfield
Did you not think Red was a bit... idk, less feisty than she was in season 1? There was something about her that was a bit tamer. Suppose it was nice to see her vulnerable side, but she could have been better.
I liked that personally, that was the natural path for her I think!
The whole of season two was shit lets be honest, nothing f***ING HAPPENED.
THAT ENDING. Rosa is so fucking fabulous.
Amazing season. Certain characters were shown in a different light, which I like. Loved all the back stories as well. The latinas were excellent as per. <3
Yael Stone (Lorna) has been promoted to series regular for season 3!
She's my fave Adrienne C Moore (Black Cindy), Dascha Polanco (Daya) and Samira Wiley (Poussey) have been promoted too, but it felt like all of those were regulars anyway! Still great news, I love Daya and Morello <3
Ah, amazing news about Morello! Her and Daya are my favourite characters - I'm really looking forward to seeing the conclusion between Daya and Bennett's story, I hope he sticks around too. I'd like Black Cindy to be tamed a bit for this season but other than that, I'm pleased by the promotions!
Oh scrap that, SOPHIA is my favourite but they are up there!
BGC's Tanisha Tomas has been announced as part of the S3 cast
She will probably only get a single line like Wilmarie did tbh.
I watched S1 and S2 over 4 days! I am hooked!! This is just so good, although I would have preferred Vee was only in 1 episode. The whole focus around the Black girls and the drugs was so boring. I felt so bad for Lorna. Sophia needs to be a regular ASAP
BLAIR BROWN is joining the cast for S3 *.*
I just started this today and I'm completely hooked to the point that it's all I can think of, lol.
This song slays me Has been on repeat for the past 2 hours.
Season 2 DVD will be released on 18 May! YASSS
I can't for season three and apparently Larry (Jason Biggs) isn't returning for season three! yes! Morello, Red, Sophia & Nicky are my favourite characters whilst Pennsatucky cracks me up
I can't wait for season three, even though season one and two were incredible I think season three will top them, especially since Laura Prepon will be back and a lot of my other favourite characters have been promoted to regulars, not to mention Larry is out of the picture!
Jason Biggs not being back is fab, Larry is pretty much the only character I really dislike!
12th June can't come sooner:
So much stuff to comment on but I'll wait until I've seen the series before gushing! I can't wait though!
a "first look" thing for Season 3 was released by Netflix today
It's also been renewed for a 4th season
Cannot wait, my exams are in this week tho argh what awful timing for this to drop
awww thats not fair! I suppose V getting flattened while an inmate escapes is nothing! what about red getting her face rearranged? pffff
Season three tomorrow!
omg it's tomorrow I totally forgot bye world.
I'm not as excited for it as I was for season two, mostly because for me, the last season didn't really go anywhere . Hopefully this one is an improvement.
Internally breaking down over the fact I have to wait a week, I'll probably kill somebody if they post any spoilers on my Twitter or whatever
My main pre-dropping hopes is that the John and Daya storyline is killed off ASAP and that Nicky/Sophia/The Golden girls are given as much screen time as possible (been binge watching Season 2 again and I still lived for "how 'bout I kill the bitch" moment).
I'm extremely excited for this, season one was my favourite, I did like season two though, it picked up more towards the end but I felt that Vee kinda ruined it as she swallowed up most of the episodes. I quite like the john/daya storyline, but I agree is needs to take more of a backseat this season, which I think it will since there's not much direction for it imo, apparently we see flashbacks of johns time in the war though
I plan on getting up early and watching an episode or two before I need to go to work, presuming it's put up early in the morning
I can't wait..been watching season 1 & 2 again..not long left to go!!
Watched 12 remaining episodes (went for a YEAR having only watched s02e01!) of Season 2 yesterday + today and started season 3! yay much excitement!
Much like season two, although it is nice to hear of back stories etc., nothing REALLY happens until eps 8-13.
I just finished it, I thought it was the best overall season so far although the finale wasn't a patch on season 2's
Some thoughts... (sorry there's quite a lot )
I felt it lacked a solid continuous story line, I think the underwear thing was probably the main one although it didn't really start until half-way through. I thought it was quite funny, and I wasn't expecting that to be the new job they were introducing but maybe should have taken a more of a backseat.
I liked Ruby Rose's character Stella, although I wish they could have introduced her as something other than another love interest for Piper.
I disliked Piper even more than I already did, Idk if this is a common opinion but the way she was so easy to cheat on Alex and not be there to support her when she's going through a difficult time, suffering from paranoia etc.
Nicky should not have been away for basically the whole season, she's like my favourite character and I was expecting her to at least come off one of the buses at the end, I was so disappointed
Morello finally getting her wedding
The backstories were brilliant, they're probably what made this season stand out more from the others and the fact there were so many
Suzanne was fabulous, her story line with the erotic writing and her little story line with the other girl, and giving her a turtle at the end was the cutest thing omg
I don't like Lolly, I did when she was in it for a bit in season 2 but now she just irritates me.
Boo and Tiffany's friendship made the season for me I think, they are the most unlikely pairing but it surprisingly works so well. Tiffany has come such a long way since season one, I love her character so much more now and her rape story line was very well done, although maybe should have happened earlier in the season it's featured in more episodes and we got to see more of her and boo dealing with it together.
Didn't like the new company thing that brought over Litchfield, couldn't stand that Danny guy, thank god he left.
Yay for no Larry!
I am annoyed at Bennett leaving, he went from being such a nice guy to an idiot as soon as he left that cot behind. Although his army dance scene possibly makes up for it
The Norma thing shouldn't have ran for as long as it did, I know a lot of weird things happen in OITNB but that just ended up being ridiculous.
Felt so bad for Soso, I'm glad they incorporated mental illness into this season though and I'm glad she found her place in the finale.
Sophia turned into a bit of a bitch this season
Since Laura Prepon wasn't really in season two much, I expected a lot more of Alex than there was in this season, they could have given her a better story line than the "I think I'm gonna get murdered" thing, I wish she and Piper could have stayed together for a whole season for once THAT ENDING WITH HER THOUGH!!!
I have high expectations for the next season now, thank god it's been renewed
Sure I can. If I concentrate extra hard with my lady brain.
I DIED.
I've only watched half of episode 1, can't find the time to binge-watch it yet Do you guys think Season 4 will be its last? I mean how long will Piper stay at prison? Unless they move on without her which is quite likely as she's despensable imo.
In season 2 Piper already had 8 months left so no
I was thinking about how long it would run on for too, I mean Piper must only have about 4 months left of her sentence, or thereabouts and that would only really cover another season. I suppose they could continue it to when Piper is released and show her life outside of Litchfield but still show you the storylines that are going on in the prison with the other regulars. They seem to be changing her character a lot, maybe she will end up doing something next season that extends her sentence or something, they aren't keeping things exactly like Piper Kermans book anyway given that she ended up marrying Larry irl and is still with him
What a great season! Flaca has become my favourite inmate this season. I felt really bad for SoSo in the last few episodes
Piper became unbearable this season too...
That would mean Pipe has like a few WEEKS left. No way this is true.
Um WHAT THE f*** was that last episode?! Nothing really happened?! Except Piper being a c**t (shocker) and that ending with Alex which I am intrigued about Like it's good that with the shock of season 1's ending and the "YAAASS VEE IS DEAD of season 2's ending we got something different but I was honestly waiting for somebody to drown or something Or I thought we'd go back and Alex would be left for dead or something? It was just a bit anti climactic for me as a season finale, being an hour an a half long you just expect more drama? Idk I do anyway.
Other than that, I enjoyed this season a lot! Not as much as season 1 or 2 but there's still a lot of scope for season 4 to cover lots of stuff. Tbh Piper is actually quite dispensable I agree, I don't think they WOULD continue without her btu they easily COULD. I saw a tweet about this being one of the only shows where they could kill off the main character and nobody would care SO true. But I think if it runs longer than like 5 seasons I really think they'll have her do something to add time to her sentence.
Flaca is my fave too <3 Queen. I love Morello as well, I liked her story but I wish they showed her more. Also Soso *.*
Some pros of this series for me:
The Latinas <3 Flaca especially, but also Aleida, Daya and Gloria.
Soso's depression arc. I felt SO sorry for her, especially with the odious Leanne going for her
The new guards being largely inept, I loved the cute young one, bless him <3
Morello's go at dating, and her little wedding!
Crazy Eyes' erotic writing story
Alex and Piper splitting, I wish we saw her more by herself because I want to love Alex but she's with Piper so much ugh
The backstories having some interesting twists - Leanne being Amish for one
Cons:
Nicky and Bennett leaving </3 Hopefully they bring Nicky back at least.
Piper turning into EVEN MORE of a c**t. Like why does she think she's some top dog prison bitch, ugh. I hated what she did to Stella, even if Stella did steal from her.
The whole Norma thing. Absolutely ridiculous imo, it would have been ok as a side arc in one episode but it spanned out for too long.
Bennett leaving
That company taking over the prison, I just didn't like any of characters from that or many of the scenes that focused on it
Black Cindy still does my head in
Is Piper really still the main character, though. Doesn't look to me like she gets more screen time than the rest of the regulars.
I think I enjoyed this season more than I did the first two. I savoured it over a span of two weeks, rather than binge-watch it and forget most of it in a day.
It was far from perfect. Norma's storyline should have been shorter and Pennsatucky's rape and flashbacks were really unpleasant. Red has grown into my least favourite character and I never bought into Stella's character for a second. Other than that it's been very consistent fun. I loved that we got to see flashbacks of secondary characters.
Looking forward to season 4 when we will obviously see more of Judy King and I hope Nicky comes back. Maybe she'll meet Stella at Max and they'll write them back into the story? We'll see.
Pennsatucky was brilliant this series. I went from HATING her in Season one to being like DON'T HURT HER in Season 3. Her and Boo's friendship was so brilliant aswell.
Piper of course is a jar. I do feel like she is going to get what's coming to her though.
I disliked this whole Praise Norma storyline. It would have been okay for an episode or two, but it dragged on way too long.
And also though HOLLABACK GIRL X_X
I was also glad to see more of the crying lady, dunno why she always wears blue, though?
I'm watching the finale tonight but this has been a strange season for me. No real story to carry through, because I'm certainly not counting the Praise Norma story which was at least 6 episodes too long.
Pennsatucky has been fantastic this season and Suzanne's turn at porn stories had me laughing. That was filthy! Apart from that, I've not been really hooked on anything else. I still can't stand Alex though. Don't know what it is, I just detest her. Piper is an idiot too. The supporting cast in this show is so good that they get away with having such an unlikeable lead character, which is very unusual.
They f***ed up Piper imho.
I enjoyed the season, also watched it over the last two weeks...
is it officially renewed for S4 tho?
Series four is already shooting so yeah.
Why have I only just started watching this?
:shakingcheeseblock:
Started this ages ago but completely falling behind, adore it though
Still on Series 1 but near the end of it I think, so funny
I've almost finished season 2.
It's already been renewed for an extra three seasons.
Exciting news. I've actually found all 3 seasons so far equally enjoyable, I've bonded with all the characters so much that I literally cannot pick a favourite (or 5!). To think it'll last another FOUR years is awesome, as long as they keep up with the quality.
Tomorrow.
Piper to be less shit this season, please. (Is this possible x)
My only hope is that they've killed the Red/Healy storyline dead.
piper to be sent to the SHU forever
Can't believe its tomorrow!! have been binge watching all 3 seasons over last couple of weeks and forgot how funny it was..sooo good
SO READY
I need Alex. And Stella.
Just watched the first episode. I really f***ing hate piper
Incredible first episode. Setting the town for the whole season really well.
Episode 6 broke me
omg I've watched the first ten episodes today and this season has been so good so far, was not expecting to sympathise with Piper as much as I have been given that I hated her so much last season
Alex >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I've just finished this and omg what a season *.* SUCH a step up from the last one, I was bawling during the last three episodes though... I really wasn't expecting that to happen at all
The end of episode 12 was too much I had to take a binge break for an hour, I cried for a good 10 minutes and I don't really cry at TV :/ I agree that this was overall a far better season than season 3, if a hard watch for the last few episodes. Holy f*** at the ending too - DAYA OF ALL PEOPLE.
Ramos and Flaca are my faves along with Morelo and Nicholls I think but I've loved Red (as usual), SoSo, Poussey, Lolly, Piscatella, Luscheck and Bayley a lot too.
I have just finished this. 12 broke me AGAIN
the ending tho :')
Just watched episode 12-OMG why???
So gripping!
I just finished Episode 8 and I'm not loving this season yet. Too much Lolly and Judy King and Piper being her usual idiot self. I have high hopes for episode 12 though!
Ive finished watching this and I thought it was awesome..that corn field scene was one of my favs episode 12 was sad and omg at that ending did not expect that at all, shame we got to wait a whole year to see what happens!!
Not sure I like the new guards, particually Piscatella and Humphrey though!
Most of season 5 has leaked, up to episode 10
Is it in good quality?? I want a link
I've finished the leaked 10 episodes and I think this is my 2nd fave behind season 4 so far. I don't think it will beat season 4 but of course we'll have to see the last 3 episodes. Some not really spoilers, but thoughts, but I'll spoiler tag them anyway:
Martiza and Flaca pulling away as my fave characters, their pairing seems to be replacing the comedy of Taystee and Poussey. Gloria is a f***ing QUEEN this season though and Alison is a lowkey fave I always forget about. Taystee really shines as well in the aftermath of Poussey's death as a Black Lives Matter voice.
I actually think Daya is worse than Piper this season, ugh. She's the real unlikable character along with the skinhead white nationalist one.
Piscatella remains lowkey daddy bear (I am so soz)
Stratman and Blake are also beaut (Stratman strips and JESUS f***ING CHRIST)
Piper was ok for a few episodes actually, the most she has been since like season 1 lmao but she soon reverts to herself getting involved in everything.
The premise of the season being all set over the same 3 days is actually really good, I thought it might be slow but there's so much happening in every episode without it ever getting too much, and it still feels like there's impasse where the situation is in suspense and not moving on which just perfectly works to create the correct atmosphere.
Yea I agree with you, we were getting shown way too much of those two latina prisoners and the guards, I think they kinda prioritised some things a bit wrongly so far but then maybe the things I wanna see more of are shown more in the next few episodes, I adore Nicky and Morello but their plotline together needs to progress, it's been the same on again/off again thing for five seasons and they're two of the best characters and actresses so should be used more!! f***ing Uzo Aduba tho, what an absolute talent, that scene with her in the mirror was just incredible *.* I actually hate Boo, the only time I can tolerate her is when her and Pennsatucky have some good friendship moments as that is a duo I can support when Boo isn't being a bitch ofc. Theres never enough Alex, there's always too much Piper.
Not sure to what extent the discussion needs to be in spoilers. Sorry in advance! Thankfully the balance restores itself in the latter half of the leaked episodes I feel. More of the originals and finally some progression in storylines for some of them.
Also, how creepy was Episode 9?!
Has Humphs died now? It wasn't overly clear whether Crazy Eyes was just having a meltdown or whether he has breathed his last? To be honest, he's had some bad luck this season!!
Despite the above, I was under the impression there would be more in the way of deaths this seasonI know there's three episodes to go but it seems the cast (especially prisoners) is ever expanding, yet not many major characters have left. I can only think of Poussey Any other prisoners who have left have not been as prominent, multi series characters.
Also, strange how the actor who plays Sam is still part of the "starring" cast but has barely appeared in the season yet (if at all?) I appreciate his story may have made it difficult to have him feature prominently but was it too much for them to have a reaction scene? .
It's a really positive start to the season however, I have really enjoyed it. It would be nice to get rid of some of the rubbish prisoners now.... so much deadwood.
Leanne in the "W" scene. HILARIOUS. I love Nicky's makeover!! Bring back Lolly!!!
Yep, I watched it all. I think this was an incredible season, I loved the character development! I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.
(I am actually distraught at them separating Flaca and Maritza)
f*** THE HELL OFF separating Martiza and Flaca is legit worse than Poussey. I am crying they cannot do this
I'm on episode 3 really not feeling this season. I feel like they are trying to generate storylines for the sake of it.
In 5 seasons not many characters have advanced, it's such a shame. Wentworth is far more gripping IMO, I know you can't really compare the two but Wentworth has me absolutely hooked, I find myself watching an episode and then not bothering.
NO HOW THE f*** CAN THEY LEAVE IT LIKE THAT
that final scene is quite possibly one of the most beautiful heart wrenching moments of the entire show, i can't stop crying
Does everything need to be in spoilers now? Just in case I guess....
Sad that some of the rumours didn't turn out to be true... no Bennett return nor Lolly... sad times. I guess it was always going to be difficult bringing them back within a three day arc.
The final ten minutes of the last episode Watch them do a Bad Girls and move the story on six weeks by ep1 with everything back to normal and everyone back in their original bunks.....
"Your eyebrows, they're plural"
I think season 5 has overtaken season 4 as my fave. I just finished it and I miss it already!
Season 6 wish: BRING BACK LOLLY!
My only complaint this season is Sophia's storyline. I want Laverne Cox back full time with a kickass story. She was such an interesting character the first three seasons.
Yeah I agree, Sophia has been paid dust for two seasons now and I think she's one of the most exciting, likable and intriguing characters with Laverne being one of the best actresses they have. There's so much still to explore with her and I think she has some of the most interesting interactions and dynamics with the other women.
I'm sure they'd love to use Laverne more but maybe her schedule is a bit too busy to commit to a full-time roll? That's all I can really think of. I know she stars in CBS's Doubt and last year she was busy filming Fox's reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
It's taking me forever to finish this, I'm on episode 11. I hate Piscatella but how cute is his (ex?) bf Wes
Season 6 will be out on 27th July. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=800249583505146&id=117077371822374 is the only clip that they've posted, which doesn't give much away.
It feels like that's such a long time away! The previous four seasons have all arrived in mid-June, which makes the wait feel like even longer.
At least we finally have a date!! Can't wait I'm so intrigued to see how it goes with the twist at the end of season 5.
I'm rewatching this as I've pretty much forgotten everything that happened before Season 4, hopefully I'll be able to space it out enough to last until the new season is out but that's unlikely

GEMMA COLLINS I AM SCREAMING LMAOO
WHAT
Sadly not an actual role she is working for their social media team so is doing promo
Somewhat glad
I only just watched the trailer yesterday, I’m really looking forward to it although the fact they only seem to be focusing on a select few (Piper, Taystee, Gloria, Red, Suzanne, etc) makes me think that some characters might be mostly missing from this season. It’s the last season so there’s no way we’ll be left wondering “what happened to x” though especially with how brilliant OITNB has been at juggling characters before
Wait I thought it was the 6th & final?
I'm definitely thinking 7 is the last, the fact that this season isn't in Litchfield makes it feel like this season might build up to a season 7 that's either a big event like season 5 or just a satisfying and right conclusion, especially with what's been said about them doing 7 seasons. I think 7 seasons is about for a show like this too. I'm sure Piper will get released in the end, perhaps even late in this season or early in season 7 and then we see a bit of her adjusting to the real world (like we have with Diaz in season 5) intertwined with stories about those left in prison.
7's such an awful number tho. At least do 8!!
Just seen a list of who hasn’t returned in Season 6, I thought they were all returning in some capacity, IT WON’T BE THE SAME
^ I am not reading that
Just noticed its out now!! That’s my weekend gone
I'm just on episode 5, not sure about the newbies, they've culled a lot of the characters who had a lot of potential too early imo in favour of new characters I am yet to really care about, that does work in prison shows normally though (Wentworth is thriving now with its main character and a fan fave villain gone) and ofc it has to happen when a lot of them have moved to Max. But it's not even halfway through the season so I'll give them a chance as OITNB can really change how you feel about a character with backstory and building them up into something.
Also this is kinda awful but I have the biggest crush on Luschek rn But some of the other new guards *.*
Okay, I might’ve ended up binging the entire season in two days so I’ll try minimise the spoilers and not talk about the finale
Okay, the season was MUCH better than last year and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. But I feel like the show never makes use of the guards in a good way. I mean, other than Luschek, McCullough and Hopper, the other guards only get screen-time when the stupid inmate fantasy game props up here and there. I get that it’s supposed to be a highlight on how blurred lines can get when you’re surrounded by brutality on a daily basis but the officers that were mainly associated with it just drove me up the wall most of the time and they kinda felt like filler material to beef up the season’s content.
I do love the relationship Luschek forms with Mendoza though. Didn’t see it coming but you can clearly see a beautiful chemistry going on there.
One of the most shocking part of the series was the back-story featuring Carole and Barbara, I felt the tension when Debbie was in that car through the TV
Is anyone else sick of Daya? She constantly tries to take on this ‘badass’ role when the next scene she likes to play the victim. I felt bad that the guards were beating her up but the waltzing around D-block and trying to intimidate the others just annoyed the hell outta me
Dixon was kinda loveable this season
Double oops.
I'm on episode 9 but give Danielle Brooks an Emmy.
WHAT THE f***
Better than S5 for me on the whole, again a great set up for season 6 with Piper getting out especially, I really loved Aleida's story this season so much like Piper was a white privilege paralell to Taystee's story, it would be powerful I think to show Aleida still struggling and doing god knows what to get her kids back when I'm sure Piper will land on her feet. Taystee's fate was heartbreaking, perhaps I was naive to believe but I really thought she'd get the jury on side. It's really powerful to show the racial divide in the justice system, the fact that both her and Piper were around when Piscatella got shot, neither of them did it but one got out of jail early and the other was sent down for life as a scapegoat.
As I think Digital Spy said, it sets up an ending for Season 7, if Piper gets back on her feet there's nothing to show really (other than her/Alex navigating a relationship when the latter is still in prison) and whilst the series could easily continue without her, 7 seasons is good going. They could easily tie a lot of things up if 7 is to be the final season.
Blanca is the last person I thought I'd be weeping for though!! It was heartbreaking to see Diablo waiting for her and she is going to get deported Idk if I want the detention centre to be in S7 because Litchfield, that and Piper/Aleida outside is juggling a few too many things, but at the same time I really want to carry on seeing more of Blanca because it was great seeing her develop more this season... There's perhaps a spin-off potential there in the detention centre, really tackling something that's a hot topic right now. Idk, I feel like maybe she might be like the characters who went to other prisons after the riot and we don't see her, maybe the detention centre stuff might be tackled from the perspective of Linda etc., or Piper maybe gets wind of them and protests against it or something.
As for all the new characters, I didn't really see the point of most of, if not ALL of them. I suppose Carol and Barb had to be there for the sake of the gang wars thing, but they were just plot devices at best and I found myself bored of it all apart from their flashback which was perhaps the most dark and shocking yet. Daddy added nothing other than making Daya somehow even worse than she already was, and Badison was just a minor antagonist who made not much of a difference to things. Adeola was pretty iconic tho.
Last thing actually, I loved the guards this season! They were incompetent and just didn't care but that added a bit of a comedy as well as being a sort of comment on the state of the prison system and how few rights prisoners have. Mendoza/Luschek was one of my favourite things about this season! Luschek in general was tbh, I just love him.
Big Boo NEEDS to come back for S7. I really missed her
I just finished episode six and this season is plodding along at such a slow rate. Does more happen? There doesn't seem to be much spark anymore.
I enjoyed the season and the move to Max was a nice gear change and gave the show a refresh. I liked the gang wars element and Carol and Barbara were really, really great - that scene with them killing their sister omg!! I do agree that the rest of the supporting characters were a damp squibs. Only Badison () stood out but I just didn't enjoy the character.
I do feel that this season had a lot less side stories than before which I kind of missed although it was nice that everything centred around the gang wars. I do now hope though that with Carol and Barbara dead, and them enjoying kickball that we lose the gang wars and all the blocks interact a lot more next season. I feel some characters got a bit lost with that being the focus, Mendoza in particular didn't have a great deal to do I felt.
I also LOVED the Taystee and Caputo storyline. Caputo was amazing this season and I loved the further glimpse into Taystee's back story with the new guard, interesting to see the parallels.
Looking forward to seeing those parallels with Piper and Aleida getting out, as well as the comparisons when Taystee got out (remember that!!)/
As much as I loved this season I feel I have more bad to say than good. As a whole it was a solid story through & through but I can’t help feeling that it’s only half a season despite being full length. The amount of characters we’re following has drastically reduced compared to previous seasons and there’s only really 4-5 new characters that have been fleshed out enough (and 2 of them died in the end anyway). Daya, Taystee, Freida, Flores, and Pennsatucky had great developments albeit the latter did lose all steam once she handed herself in - I did love the dynamic of her, Suzanne, and Freida in “Florida” though. This season did a great job with throwing characters who never would have hung around each other together and the Breakfast Club joke got me good
Daya’s descent into prison thug finally comes about which was a very sad thing to watch, she didn’t realise the impacts of her shooting the guard until it was too late Flores and Taystee’s stories were equally heartbreaking too tbh: Flores being tricked into believing she’s being released and can finally start a family and Taystee being denied justice for Poussey :/ I imagine race will be a huge theme in the next season, more than it ever has been on the show. Freida’s history with the sisters was really interesting too and I didn’t expect any of what happened to actually happen. Barbara & Carol tricking their sister into thinking she was safe in the car was a nightmare. It’s a shame they died but I suppose in the long run Badison was always gonna be the true villain who will likely be the big bad next year. Pennsatuckys grand escape was such a hilarious plot, it’s a shame it ended so abruptly as I would’ve liked a bit more action with her being caught.
But there’s so many brilliant characters that have been shoved to one side or even thrown away completely for this season. I get that they’re in Max now and obviously the full cast wouldn’t have been present, but I was half expecting something similar to Season 2 when Piper was sent off to Chicago at the beginning to testify at the trial and then she returns to Litchfield in episode 3. Even many characters who were present had little impact on what happened. I was also a bit pissed off at the big deal over an inmate dying and that not being revealed until later on. I was sad that Kukudio died, but it also felt a little underwhelming as she isn’t exactly a part of the main cast. The fact that no one knew/cared didnt help either, I imagine Suzanne will find out eventually and that will be heartbreaking watching it’s effect on her since it was the injuries from their fight that killed her - but again it feels like that’s what we should have had this season.
I’m glad Piper is finally free. She’s had some good plots over the course of the show and I especially loved her thinking she’s “gangsta” not long ago but it was definitely her time to leave. I do wonder how much of her we’ll see next time though, hopefully her memoirs will get published
More side stories probably would’ve satisfied me more, not to say I haven’t enjoyed this, but it ended with me wanting more. Not like a cliffhanger either, just a “why is this the last episode?”
Season 7 is confirmed as the final season Probably for the best but sad to see it go.
I think it was expected after all the rumours, it will be sad to see it go but it's better to go out with more of a bang than a whimper. It's going to be strange with both this and House of Cards ending when they were the first two BIG Netflix originals! A sign that times are changing once again.
I do feel though that it could be a show that could go on and on because of the huge amount of characters and you can keep introducing more and shifting the focus on them without losing the feel/enjoyment of the show. It is the appropriate time though to either focus on new characters or end the show now with the focus still on the main original lot.
I caught up on all of the show a month ago and I’m not surprised at next one being the last, I think S6 was a weaker one just because of how many characters were cut with no payoff, and arcs for the main characters winding down. Great show overall and I hope they do spend the last season making it feel mostly complete, there’s several characters who that’ll be difficult for.
I did finally finish the S6... The last few episodes were better (not by much) but the entire season was such a disappointing slog. Not much happened, and I think the move to max was a risk that didn't even remotely pay off.
At this point, I'm glad they're finishing it. I'm just hoping they feel more energised by it being the end.
26th July for season 7!! Trailer is out too
The video of the cast singing You've Got Time made me feel so emotional! I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters 💔
Yeah I think the final series is going to be really emotional I hope it gets the send off it deserves!
Has anyone started season 7 yet? Any good?
I need to start soon!
Watched the first three episodes last night and it's brilliant so far. Easily the best since S4
I don't wanna rush through it because when it's over...that's it
Already on episode 3 and I’m screaming at ‘Bitch I was born here, I committed my crime LEGALLY’
I loved "she's a f***ing c**t but she's MY f***ing c**t"
Blanca is everything
Blanca was the STAR of this season. OMG
Figueroa is the revealtion of the season for me, I really didn't expect to be stanning her so much!
Oh I always loved her lmao
5 episodes left and I don't want this to end </3
I've got two and I'm gonna watch them tonight after Love Island but really don't want it to be over </3
PENSATUCKEY WNAT THE f***
omg that was worse than Poussey I'm in absolute floods
Just finished episode 5 and Maritza nooo This is even more heartbreaking considering the actress' parents were both deported when she was 14 so it probably hit very close to home portraying that scene. Everything about it, the music and the surprise made it so damn heartwrenching to watch. This season is really hitting it out of the park.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I don't want this to end, it's everything I wanted from this series and more. Bringing everything back to the main characters that we all loved and not shying away from some serious issues along the way, it's glorious so far.
...and we're done! It was wonderful, I'm going to miss this show loads but it ended on such a good season and I honestly don't think they could have played it out any better.
Loved that they showed cameos from so many old inmates - and the end credits were lovely.
I think this actually might have been the best season for me, initially I didn't know if I felt disappointed by the last episode but the more I thought, the more it feels like pretty much every character had the only ending that would have been right in the circumstances!
One of the highlights was that girl in the adoption centre singing Colt 45, I was screaming
just finished this and god I loved seasons 4 and 5 but this is challenging them. It did so much, for a show with such a vast mythology, to leave as few stones unturned as it could, and for the characters we've been following, they're not all at a happy ending nor is everything indeed fixed, but it felt complete.
The whole ICE plot of the season I found really hard to watch and very real but that just made it more powerful in the end.
What a strong way to go out for such a great show overall.
Best season of the whole series! Really powerful and moving I cried so many times throughout! The scene on the plane wow, Blanca just wow, Fig omg fell in love with her, Doggett my heart broke, Gloria just love her, Alex and Piper storyline brilliant again, Taystee I bloody love her, Cindy, Red, Morello, Nicky, Suzanne, Ward, Joe... oh I could keep going the whole thing was flawless!
So gutted it’s over one of my favourite series ever!
