Hi Bré

Lots of songs entering this week, nearly all of which I don't know and most of which sound like I don't want to know laugh.gif

My YouTube says I've heard your #1 already and it does sound a little familiar but I can't for the life of me remember why. It sounds very Burial anyway, but the vocals make it a little nicer as well - actually quite pleasant to listen to.

What on earth is Gec 2 U laugh.gif To be fair it's nowhere near the worst thing I've heard on your chart. (okay I've just got to the bit where it speeds up on the end, that is something mellow.gif )

Some more urban songs in the UK Chart gracing your chart, OT Bop is actually very catchy (ignoring what the song's actually about), I was actually quite partial to 6:30 and Options as well so I should probably mark NSG down as one of the better ones. And Strike A Pose... is better than Ay Caramba at least.

Great chart biggrin.gif

You might have been online when I played 'Claustro' on plug.dj (before the BJSC 115 final iirc)? YouTube counts hearing a song on plug as having played it yourself.

Catching up with charts again lel, thanks for the last few comments as ever ~

exciting chart hilites

> The top 2 of new entries from week 25 held their positions with Burial getting a second week at the top with 'Claustro' and the Dreamville gang a second week as runners up with 'Down Bad'. Lil Nas X nabbed highest new entry at #3 with his follow-up single 'Panini' which is serving full Lidl Travis Scott vibes but has proven to be a real earworm for me and I'm actually liking it more than 'Old Town Road'. Tyler, The Creator's 'EARFQUAKE' and Trippie Redd's 'Under Enemy Arms' fell a place each to #4 and #5 in an unusually stable top 5.
> ROSALÍA climbed back up three places to #6 with 'Aute Cuture', just ahead of Ed Sheeran, Chance The Rapper and PnB Rock who finally cracked the top 10 at #7 in their fourth week on the chart with 'Cross Me'. 100 gecs fell a couple to #8 with 'gec 2 Ü' but also gained a second chart entry with the equally iconic 'money machine' entering in the top 20 following its music video release. Joji climbed 10 places to #9 to nab a first top 10 hit with 'Sanctuary' while Weyes Blood's 'Movies' is the higher of two BJSC new entries (this one from Quintessa) at #10.
> Other new entries: Deandria's mind.in.a.box providing the second and final BJSC new entry (I've charted the other 2 songs that were in my top 4 of the contest in previous weeks); Drake and Rick Ross' sorta-but-actually-not-really-at-all basketball anthem; the free Spotify advert anthem from Freya Ridings; Drab Majesty's second top 40 hit following their #1 with 'Ellipsis'; Biffy Clyro's cover of their fellow very Scottish rock band Frightened Rabbit (RIP Scott Hutchinson); a bleepy bloop track from Floating Points; a Portuguese bop hidden in the album tracks of Madonna's 'Madame X' with help from Brazilian superstar Anitta (why wasn't this a single x); TikTok meme and Lil Nas X's natural successor Blanco Brown (2019's 'Cha Cha Slide' / 'Cotton Eye Joe' all in one *.*); a catchy random low Hot 100 hit from terribly named rapper of the week Yella Beezy with Quavo and Gucci Mane; a surprise good (African-flavoured) Rudimental song in 2019 probably mostly down to the other artists on the song The Martinez Brothers and Faith Mussa; the one somewhat good song from Future's new otherwise very underwhelming EP; and Stormzy's follow-up hit which sees him bring back the 'prayer' half of his sound but thankfully in a slightly less overtly preachy way than 'Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2'.

exciting chart hilites

> For the first time this year my top 2 remain unchanged for three consecutive charts, still Burial's 'Claustro' at #1 (and looking good for maybe being the first song of the year to get 4 weeks in a row at #1) and J. Cole & friends at #2, 'Down Bad' maybe suffering the same fate as Hot Chip's 'Hungry Child' in having 3 weeks peaking at #2 behind the same song (though in that case it wasn't all in consecutive weeks). The highest newie comes at #3 again for a new collab between Unknown T and AJ Tracey, 'Leave Dat Trap', which sadly still doesn't look like it's going to give Unknown T a UK top 40 hit despite being his catchiest single to date. It is however his first top 10 in my chart (though 'Homerton B' probably would have got there too last year) and gives AJ Tracey a second top 3 hit following the #1 'Ladbroke Grove'. Joji's 'Sanctuary' continues to climb and cracks the top 5 at #4, sandwiched with another new entry at #5 from Radiohead's Thom Yorke with the very bleepy and bloopy 'Not The News' from his new solo album.
> 6 through 9 are all fallers: Trippie Redd's 'Under Enemy Arms' down another place to #6 (with a very satisfying 3-4-5-6 run in the last four weeks), Lil Nas X's 'Panini' down 4 to #7, ROSALÍA's 'Aute Cuture' back down two to #8 and Tyler, The Creator's 'EARFQUAKE' crumbling five places to #9. Freya Ridings provides a third top 10 entry as she rises 11 places to #10 with 'Castles', matching the peak she got at the very start of the year with MJ Cole collab 'Waking Up' (she'd probably have charted higher than that with 'Lost Without You' which remains her best song).
> Other new entries: a slightly old song from SOFI TUKKER and Pabllo Vittar though new to me via the BJSC Pride II spinoff; Hot Chip's third single from their new era which is much better than the previous single and also returns the quality in their music videos with the clip for this one fully fitting their trademark slightly weird and disturbing style; an 80s-y synth-y Art Of Noise-esque instrumental from Blanck Mass (a side project of a member of Fuck Buttons); the return of Joji's 88rising labelmate Rich Brian (with producer Bekon) with a string-heavy and mostly sung rather than rapped track, a big departure from his previous material but surprisingly lovely stuff; Ukrainian quen and Persephonia/Jadakissnia alumnus LUNA with a satisfyingly synthy new track; Mark Ronson and Camila Cabello's collab which has finally clicked with me a bit more after making the UK top 40 #commercialhoe; another Madonna #31 hit which missed out on my chart last week but enters as the song has clicked more following a watch of the harrowing music video; the eponymous debut track of Red Hearse, a new 'supergroup' of 2 people I've never heard of and Jack Antonoff of Bleachers/fun. fame (if you're reading this Pete, you might like this one x); King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's third thrash metal single which is largely the same as the previous two but I can't get enough of this sound from them; Underworld finally charting a second track from their DRIFT series after the last few underwhelmed a bit, this one a collab with the weirdly named Ø [Phase]; the better of the two (both pretty good) songs from Agnes' very low-key comeback; and a bit of chill lo-fi pop from Clairo which I heard on Radio 1 and thought sounded quite lovely.

I'm trying and failing to make these commentaries take less time to type out. Lel.

Random observation: only one of my new entries this week is primarily rapped which seems unusual for my chart. That one is the highest new entry but still. x

exciting chart hilites

> The top 5 is pretty stable again this week - Burial's 'Claustro' holds #1 for a fourth week in a row, the first song to do so since my chart came back this year (and matching ROSALÍA, J Balvin & El Guincho's 'Con Altura' for most weeks at #1 in all this year), and it's a fourth straight week as runner up for the Dreamville crew's 'Down Bad' which now has the most weeks at #2 of any song on my chart this year. How long can they monopolise the top 2? :0 I listened to a bunch of other songs from the Dreamville 'Revenge Of The Dreamers III' album and unfortunately there was nothing else near as good as this one song on there but it does provide one new entry just inside the top 40 in the form of J.I.D, J. Cole and Vince Staples' two-part song 'Rembrandt...Run It Back'. Joji's 'Sanctuary' climbs another place to a new peak of #3, Thom Yorke also rises one place to a new peak of #4 with 'Not The News' and the top 5 is completed by a five place rise for Freya Ridings' 'Castles' which thus now surpasses the peak of 'Waking Up'.
> Unknown T and AJ Tracey slip three places to #6 with 'Leave Dat Trap'. Bon Iver rises to a new peak of #7 with 'Hey, Ma' after previously falling just short of the top 10 3 weeks ago. ROSALÍA holds at #8 with 'Aute Cuture', she released two new songs this week but has a little less impact on my chart than usual with 'Dio$ No$ Libre Del Dinero' entering in the 20s and the other new song missing out. Blanco Brown's 'The Git Up' continues to rise up to #9 and the highest new entry lands in at #10, surprisingly enough it's Ellie Goulding with her first good song for quite a while, Juice WRLD collab 'Hate Me' (which becomes Juice's fourth top 10 hit of the year for me).
> Other new entries: a trio of instrumental dance tracks impacting with Bonobo and Dusky making the top 20 and Gorgon City in the top 30; Ed Sheeran landing two new entries from his forthcoming collaborations album, going top 20 with his commercially overlooked Chris Stapleton/Bruno Mars collab and having a belated entry at #31 for the surprisingly good song with Khalid; Post Malone and Young Thug's collaboration arriving in the top 20; Daughter's contribution to the forthcoming Frightened Rabbit cover album coming in one place higher than Biffy Clyro's track which charted two weeks back; Lizzo's viral hit single finally giving her a second top 40 hit on my chart; Dominic Fike picking up a second top 40 with a new track produced by Kenny Beats; Tyler, The Creator nabbing another top 40 scrape with a feature this time for Jaden (yes, that Jaden); and a belated debut for Of Monsters And Men's new single following its music video release (after it just missed my top 40 when the song was originally released).

10 ** 01 / Ellie Goulding and Juice WRLD - Hate Me / 10- quite good but Sixteen was a lot better, it suits her more
19 ** 01 / Ed Sheeran, Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars - BLOW / 19- well this may be Ed's worst song in quite some time oops
20 ** 01 / Post Malone - Goodbyes (feat. Young Thug) / 20- another good effort from Post, Young Thug still sounds bad tho
31 ** 01 / Ed Sheeran - Beautiful People (feat. Khalid) / 31- this is his 2nd best of the era from what I've heard so far after Cross Me
great chart!

Giving Linked a listen, the instrumentation is quite nice but it does feel a *little* repetitive!

New Gorgon City! Giving that a play now, not what I'm used to hearing from them but it sounds like a good summer song!

Great chart biggrin.gif

exciting chart hilites

> The last time I posted in here Burial's 'Claustro' was spending its 4th week at #1; it ended up getting a further 2 weeks at the top (solidifying it as the clear longest running #1 of the year) and has now slipped to #10. There have been 3 new #1s in the three weeks since then, with Burial first supplanted by 'MY POWER' from Beyoncé's 'The Lion Ling: The Gift' compilation (in collaboration with Tierra Whack of top 5 hit on my chart 'Unemployed' fame, 2 of the artists from Jadakissnia BJSC entry 'Midnight Starring' and several others) though that has already dipped back below 'Claustro' to #15. Then Rico Nasty got her second #1 of the year with 'Time Flies', becoming the first artist to have 2 #1s on my chart this year; it's down to #2 this week in its third week top 10, which matches the entire top 40 longevity of her previous #1 'Roof' (oops). Probs would have sent this one to BJSC if I hadn't already sent 'Roof', it is a better song xx this week's new #1 comes from BROCKHAMPTON with their comeback single 'I BEEN BORN AGAIN', didn't find this one as instant as most of their singles as it only debuted at #19 last week but it's clicked a lot more since and thus finally gives the best boyband since One Direction their first #1 on a published Bré chart (they'd have had several previous #1s but alas their previous eras were at times where I didn't have a personal chart). BROCKHAMPTON also have a new entry at #7 this week with the follow-up single 'IF YOU PRAY RIGHT' which I found a little more instant.

> Headie One and Skepta's 'Back To Basics', a debut at #12 in the last chart I posted in here, since climbed as high as #2 (becoming both artists' highest peaking song on my charts) and now falls to #3. The highest new entry comes at #4 from Bon Iver with the beautiful 'Naeem' which really should have been one of the proper singles from the album as it's far better than 3 of the 4 actual songs chosen as singles. Bon Iver has a second new entry just inside the top 40 with another album track which is a collaboration with James Blake. Red Hearse's 'Half Love' which peaked at #4 last week falls back to #5 (it's the second chart entry from me for the new supergroup of Jack Antonoff and 2 other irrelevant people). Another new entry at #6 for Flame 2 with 'Dive', this might look like it's something very weird and obscure but it's actually a new collaboration between Burial and The Bug, a rather demented witch house-esque bass-heavy instrumental track. Channel Tres and JPEGMAFIA's Pharrell-esque banger 'Black Moses' rises to #8 after debuting last week at #10, while HAIM's 'Summer Girl' climbs from its debut last week of #18 to #9, a very welcome shift from them to a breezy jazzy sound featuring a lovely saxophone riff.

> Other new entries this week: 2 songs which have been dedicated to the victims of the recent mass shootings in the USA make the top 15, one a trippy psychedelic ambient instrumental from SevenSeize fave Oh Sees and one a haunting ballad from Lana Del Rey which gives her her highest position on my chart this year so far; Chase And Status getting another top 20 hit with their Cocoa Tea collab following its music video release (I should probably listen to the album x); the rising tech house (?) hit from Solardo and Eli Brown also debuting top 20; the string-laden James Blake-esque new song from Active Child in the top 30; TOOL's long-awaited epic comeback single providing the second 10+ minute song in my current top 40 (along with my BJSC entry 'Othan' by Heilung which peaked last week at #3 and now slips to #12 as the contest wears off); a pair of weird but wonderful new songs from Trifoski BJSC artists Battles and Iglooghost with various collaborators; a collab between Kendrick Lamar and his labelmate, R&B singer SiR, from the latter's forthcoming album; and a seedy nightclub house bop from The Juan MacLean just scraping in. There's also a re-entry for former top 3 hit 'Can't Believe The Way We Flow' by James Blake just outside the top 20 following its music video release.

exciting chart hilites

> BROCKHAMPTON manage a second week at the top spot with 'I BEEN BORN AGAIN', but are run close by Bon Iver's 'Naeem' which rises two places to #2 in its second week to become Bon Iver's highest charting song for me, outdoing the #3 peak of 'Hey, Ma'. BROCKHAMPTON meanwhile increase their top 10 presence from two songs to three as follow-up 'IF YOU PRAY RIGHT' rises 4 places to #3 in its second week while third single 'BOY BYE' launches at #7. They're due for an album bomb next week with the release of their new album 'GINGER' so that number of top 10 hits may increase further and they may even become the first act to replace themselves at #1 for me this year ohmy.gif

> The rest of the top 10 is made up of female lead artists (probably my first majority female top 10 this year though I'm not going to check that), including four more high new entries. The highest new entry is at #4 from Jenny Hval (aka Rockettothesky from the underrated BJSC track 'Grizzly Man') with her psychedelic experience of a new track 'High Alice', reminds me of Purity Ring mixed with Enigma. Coming in just behind is Zimbabwean-Australian rapper Tkay Maidza with a dark and grimy trap banger/insomnia anthem 'Awake' which provides featured rapper JPEGMAFIA his third top 10 hit of the year (while his own brand new single with a very JPEGMAFIA-esque title and just the right amount of glitchy experimental weirdness also debuts in the top 15). In a wild coincidence there's also a Zambian-Australian female rapper debuting in my top 10 as my BJSC 117 entry 'Final Form' by Sampa The Great (already a #1 for Doctor Blind, the taste) debuts at #9. Rico Nasty's 'Time Flies' slips four places to #6, HAIM's 'Summer Girl' climbs another place to a new peak of #8 and the top 10 is rounded out by another new entry, ROSALÍA claiming her 5th top 10 hit of the year with her tropical reggaeton bop 'Yo X Ti, Tu X Mi', assisted by Ozuna for that sweet sweet YouTube revenue.

> Other new entries this week: Ukrainian Jadaphonia alumnus LUNA getting her third top 15 hit in the space of 8 weeks with another lovely synthy track; a dark, moody and intense new track from Chelsea Wolfe; Headie One's Ultra Naté-sampling new single; a new banger from Tchami which is a couple of weeks old but only just came onto my radar (not even mentioned in the dance forum!); Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign's trashy but catchy bop making a delayed entry after missing out last week; a pop-R&B cut from Indonesian singer NIKI who's the 4th artist from the 88rising label to make my chart this year (following Higher Brothers, Joji and Rich Brian); a heart-wrenching indie folk tune from blogosphere faves Big Thief; a new track from Drain Gang members Thaiboy Digital and Ecco2k; and a new song from Daithí which follows a similar formula to his BJSC song 'Mary Keanes Introduction', mixing interview audio with lovely house production.

Not listened to these Brockhampton songs you've got here (yet) but I quite liked 'No Halo' from plug, wouldn't mind that being a minor chart hit as it looks set to be. I guess that'll be #1 here soon too then or #2 behind another of their tracks.
Enjoying the Headie One track even if mostly down to the Ultra Naté sample. 'Rainforest' is another decent Tchami track too and 'Hot Girl Summer' is the best I've heard from Megan Thee Stallion so far.

Poor Bon Iver missing out on number one here, the Brockhampton domination is gonna get even worse next week isn't it? Oh well. You'll be delighted to know No Halo is looking likely to finish top 75 in the chart!

Liking the new entry for Tkay Maidza and JPEGMAFIA in the top five, hoping that moves up somehow! Same for Tchami, and the new single from Headie One is decent too although it is an unusual use for the sample!

Great to see Othan, XTC, Silhouettes and Down Bad still hanging on in the top 40 too, shame Gauč n Bass couldn't join them.

Nice chart!

Would I be that predictable ohmy.gif (answer: yes, I would in this case x) I think it was someone on plug who compared 'Both' to Dot Rotten's 'Overload', which I liked as well, these kind of samples should feel sacrilege but they somehow work for me anyway. x

I assume by 'worse' you mean 'greater' happy.gif Bon Iver probably have missed their chance at #1 though unfortunately, almost wish I had given them a week there as it was close last week but alas stanning wins sometimes xx (also you lied, 'NO HALO' was a mere UK #76 smash, poor hens xx)

Cool that you're liking the Tkay song as well! Afraid it has dropped this week though xx but I think it'll either rebound or stay pretty steady next week ~ Tchami is holding up out of the ones you mentioned though magic.gif And you know how it is with BJSC songs falling off my chart very rapidly oops (Gleb nearly did hold on for a third week though!)

I was surprised at that missing the top 75, it was certainly looking likely as it was top 70 on Thursday's update with a fairly safe lead, but in the end it missed out by just 9 sales! ohmy.gif

The Tkay Maidza song actually appeared in my own chart as well this week, really good track!

exciting chart hilites

> With the first BROCKHAMPTON album release at a time when I actually have a personal chart going my true stan colours are fully revealed (something similar to this would have happened with their last album too - still not as much of a stan as Dan is for Avicii xx) The new single 'NO HALO', one of my favourite songs from them to date, easily lands a #1 debut making the boyband the first act to replace themselves at #1 on my chart this year and the second after Rico Nasty to get 2 #1s in 2019. They also become the second act this year to hold both of the top 2 in the same week (following James Blake), as 'I BEEN BORN AGAIN' is only down one place to #2, and do more on top of that as they actually lock out the entire top 4 with album track highlight 'ST. PERCY' going straight in at #3 while second single 'IF YOU PRAY RIGHT' falls a place to #4, but overtakes Bon Iver's 'Naeem' in the process after that blocked an all-BROCKHAMPTON top 2 last week (that slips 4 places to #6). A total of 8 of the 12 tracks from 'GINGER' hold a place in my top 40 this week as they also claim the third highest new entry with the powerful 'DEARLY DEPARTED' at #8, giving them a full 50% of the top 10, and they also debut at #17 with the title track and #36 with 'SUGAR' (one that I actually didn't love that much on first listen but it grew on me quite a bit). Third single 'BOY BYE' however doesn't get much of an album release boost as it falls 5 places to #12. The only song in the top 5 by a different artist is Jenny Hval's 'High Alice' which falls one place to #5.

> There's more fresh activity in the lower half of the top 10. JPEGMAFIA may have fallen out of the top 10 with his Tkay Maidza collab but makes up for it by climbing in with his other new entry from last week, 'Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot' which rises to #7, giving him his fourth top 10 hit of the year. The highest non BROCKHAMPTON new entry comes from Declan McKenna's 'British Bombs' in at #9, reminding me of a blend of Sam Fender and George Ezra (taking the best qualities from both x), and Lana Del Rey gets her fourth chart entry of the year with each charting higher than the last, claiming her first top 10 appearance this year with 'Fuck It I Love You' debuting at #10. I plan to listen to her new album soon so there may be more Lana entries next week.

> Other new entries this week: a melt-worthy bit of lowkey R&B (which needs to be added to Spotify xx) from Sabrina Claudio giving her a second chart appearance following her #1 collab with BURNS and A$AP Rocky; Taylor Swift's Ed Sheeran cover album title track which has grown on me a lot this week after its video release and now become my fave of the era, could well climb further next week; Future delivering another flute rap banger with assistance from Meek Mill and Doe Boy (this week's obligatory new rapper with an awful name), charting now following its video release after just missing out a few weeks ago; DaBaby's collab with Offset, aided by another iconic music video, which I nearly charted earlier in the year but revisited this week after it finally charted on the Hot 100; Chase And Status' update of the absolute CLASSIC 'Original Nuttah' by UK Apache and Shy FX (a remix done right); Kosovan DJ Regard's surprisingly good Jay Sean remake / TikTok hit; BANKS belatedly finally charting a song from her new album after I didn't like the first two singles at all (another one just charting now after giving it another chance following a new video release); and finally a classical piano/hip-hop crossover instrumental from Chloe Flower which provides a rare Bré Forté hit originating from the PopJustice Song Contest.
