I caught this last night, a great new drama from BBC Two. I have to say BBC Two's drama offerings at the moment are amazing. First Wolf Hall and now Banished.

Jimmy McGovern always does a great job with the scripts, 'Common' was a great one-off 90 minute drama of his on BBC One last year about accessoryship.

Agreed. Anything written by Jimmy McGovern is almost certain to be worth watching. Common was excellent (and the accompanying documentary showed that it was all too plausible) and Banished got off to a good start last night.

So, despite scoring some very good ratings for BBC Two, this has been cancelled.

I never got round to watching it myself but I still find it a bizarre decision!
