BuzzJack Music Forum _ Taylor Swift _ Taylor gets rid of 'Hey kids, spelling is fun!!!!!1'

Posted by: 365 Aug 23 2019, 10:31 AM

'Me!' was never exactly a fan favourite among fans and critics upon its release, and one of the biggest bones of contention was the childish lyric "Hey Kids; spelling is fun!", which Taylor has now removed from the album version of the track.

How do you feel?

I'm disappointed. Does she not find spelling fun anymore?

It was the worst line in the song but I wouldn’t have deleted it even if it sort of sounds better without it. It doesn’t make that much difference to my enjoyment of it.

It’s just carefree pop with no serious message or meaning behind it. The sort of stuff what rarely impacts the charts anymore.

Well, to be fair spelling IS fun. It's not as if it's an untrue statement.

It just goes to show that she is not immune to criticism.

Its weird hearing it without it due to listening to it so much especially comsidering its just silence now

(The article that says it makes sense to remove it due to not actually having any spelling in it do they not hear the lines "girl there aint no I in team but there is a me" [backwards of course] and "you cant spell awesoME without me" )

Also can someone confirm its been bugging me all day but didnt something similar happen with 22 and the line "whose taylor swift anyway ewww"

It's sad that it seemed to affect her to the point of having to remove it. Like, who cares? It's happened now and it's not like it is particularly detrimental to the listening experience. It took me a while to even notice it in the song tbh. If anything it makes the song stand out. Also, the whole middle 8 is about spelling and I think the rest of it could be considered more cringy, so it's not like removing that particular line really removes the spelling idea.

I prefer the original, that line amuses me.

I've kept the original version on my iTunes as I like the line, it fits perfectly with the tone of the song!
