Warrington indie band Viola Beach have been killed in a car accident in Sweden. They played a number of BBC Introducing sessions.

I have to admit I didn't know anything about them until this morning, but they sounded very promising. RIP sad.gif

I thought I'd heard of them! I definitely remember hearing Swings and Waterslides on a blog last year and thinking they sounded like a good indie band to watch for the future, very saddening that they'll never get the chance.

Their management had sent me some of their singles over the past year or so. Never got around to blogging about them, but really liked "Swings & Waterslides" at the time, and intended to go and see them at Great Escape. Really tragic thing to happen, my thoughts and prayers are with their friends and family.

I heard about this earlier, such a tragedy to have an entire band wiped out like that, especially so early in their career sad.gif

Terribly tragic. sad.gif

Their label Communion released a statement, announcing that proceeds from the single will go to the band and their manager's families: http://www.communionmusic.co.uk/a-statement/

Immediately after the news broke, plenty of people thought they could spare a lot of police time by announcing confidently that hey knew exactly what caused the accident. Perhaps they may want to change their minds now.
